Welcome!
What a month it’s been at Doug Tarry Homes! June was filled with celebrations, community events, and milestones that reflect what matters most to us, building not only great homes, but stronger communities.
We were proud to celebrate 20 years as an ENERGY STAR® for New Homes builder, marking an incredible milestone in our commitment to high-performance housing. As a five-time ENERGY STAR Canada Award winner, we’ve built more than 1,000 ENERGY STAR certified homes and continue to build every new home to ENERGY STAR® and Net Zero Ready standards. It was an honour to celebrate this achievement with industry partners, community leaders, and members of our team who have helped shape this journey over the past two decades.
Giving back to our community is at the heart of what we do. Morgan Bolton had the privilege of presenting the Doug Tarry Custom Homes Scholarship to Myles Stanley-Park. Congratulations to Myles on this welldeserved achievement. We wish him all the best as he begins this exciting new chapter.
Another highlight of the month was LemonAID Day in support of the Elgin Children’s Foundation. With lemonade stands set up across Elgin County, the community once again showed incredible generosity. Every cup of lemonade purchased helps send local children to camp, and we’re grateful to everyone who stopped by to support this wonderful cause.
We also joined the community in celebrating the grand opening of Greg Tarry Park in Eagle Ridge. It was wonderful to see so many families, neighbours, and community members enjoying the new playground and green space together. Seeing children laughing, families connecting, and the community making memories in the park made for a truly special day.
Supporting our local economy continues to be important to us as well. We were pleased to present a cheque to Sean Dyke, CEO of the Elgin County Economic Development Corporation, and Grayden Laing, Chair of the Downtown Development Board, in support of several exciting community initiatives, including Nostalgia Nights, Downtown Oktoberfest, Light Up Talbot, and SBEC’s Bridges to Better Business celebration. These events help showcase everything that makes St. Thomas and Elgin County such vibrant places to live, work, and visit.
We closed out the month with a bittersweet celebration as we honoured Michele on her retirement after an incredible 22 years with Doug Tarry Homes. For more than two decades, Michele has been a friendly face, a trusted teammate, and an important part of our company culture. While we’ll certainly miss seeing her every day, we’re thankful for her years of dedication, friendship, and the lasting impact she’s made on our team. Once you’re part of the Doug Tarry Homes family, you’ll always be part of the Doug Tarry Homes family. We wish Michele nothing but happiness in her well-earned retirement.
As we head into July, we’re looking forward to another exciting month of helping families find their dream homes while continuing to support the communities we proudly call home. Warm regards,
The Sales and Marketing Team

What is Radon?
WHAT IS RADON AND WHY DOES IT MATTER?
When we talk about building better homes, it’s not just about what you can see. Some of the most important features are working behind the scenes to create a healthier living environment for you and your family.
In our latest video, Doug explains what radon is, how it can enter a home, and why every Doug Tarry Home is built with a radon mitigation system. While radon is a naturally occurring gas found in the ground, taking the right steps during construction can help reduce its presence inside your home.
From energy efficiency to indoor air quality, every detail matters. It’s all part of our commitment to building healthier, more comfortable, and higher-performing homes.
Be sure to watch the video to learn more about radon and discover how Doug Tarry Homes continues to build beyond today’s standards for the benefit of homeowners and their families.

Happy Canada Day!!! Did you know that St. Thomas is known as the “Railway Capital of Canada”? At one point, more than 100 trains passed through the city each day, helping shape the strong, connected community that continues to grow here today.
This past month with some fabulous weather I have noticed that spirit of connection is easy to see throughout our neighborhood, where more and more young families are choosing to put down roots. From evening walks and bike rides to neighbourhood gatherings, there’s a growing sense of community that makes this area such a special place to live.
At the heart of it all is Parish Park, a favourite destination for local families, the park has become a cornerstone of community life—a place where kids can truly be kids.
As we celebrate Canada Day and enjoy the start of summer, we’re grateful to be part of a thriving community where families can build lasting memories and feel right at home.

Fairwell Michele Milles. When I joined the Doug Tarry Homes sales team two years ago, I was fortunate to have Michele guide me through the role—the highs, the lows, and everything in between. Her infectious attitude, sense of humour, and unwavering professionalism always shone through, and she is someone I have continually tried to emulate.
There isn’t a week that goes by where someone doesn’t stop in to ask how Michele is doing or where they can find her. That speaks volumes about the impact she has had on our homeowners, our community, and our team. To me, Michele truly embodies the Doug Tarry Difference.
Thank you, Michele, for your guidance, friendship, and the example you’ve set for all of us. Wishing you all the very best in your well-deserved retirement—you will be greatly missed.
LSTAR Slo-Pitch Tournament- I participated in the LSTAR Tournament as part of Triland Realty, we went undefeated on a gorgeous day, but more importantly, I was able to network with some of the best agents around!
Wellspring Cancer Support – Certificate of Appreciation – Recently, I had the honour of accepting a Certificate of Appreciation from the Wellspring Cancer Support on behalf of Doug Tarry Homes. Through our donation we were proud to help support the Aquafit program offered at the local YMCA of Southwestern Ontario in St. Thomas.
This cause is especially close to my heart, which made the experience even more meaningful. During the presentation, I had the opportunity to meet some of the incredible women who have participated in the program and hear firsthand about the difference it has made in their cancer journeys. Their s tories of resilience, strength, and community were truly inspiring.
Moments like these are a reminder that supporting our community goes far beyond building homes. It’s about helping create opportunities, connections, and programs that make a meaningful impact in people’s lives.
I am incredibly proud to be part of an organization that is committed to giving back and supporting causes that matter. It’s just another reason why I’m grateful to be part of the Doug Tarry Homes team and the wonderful St. Thomas community.

Jade Lemonade Thrift
If you love the thrill of finding hidden treasures, you’ll want to check out Jade Lemonade Thrift in Downtown St. Thomas.
Owner Hailey MacMillan opened the shop in October 2025 after years of thrifting and running a successful resale business from home while raising her daughter as a single mom. When it came time to open a storefront, Downtown St. Thomas was the perfect place.
Named after her daughter, Jade, the shop is a true family affair. Jade has quite the eye for a bargain, once uncovering a Christian Dior brooch for just 25 cents that later sold for around $340!
At Jade Lemonade Thrift, every purchase helps give quality items a second life while keeping more out of our landfills. Be sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram for new arrivals and sales, sometimes up to 50% off. You never know what treasure you’ll find next!

WHAT DOES HVAC STAND FOR?
A Google search will tell you that it stands for for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. It refers to the integrated technology, equipment, and ductwork used to regulate indoor temperatures, control humidity, and maintain healthy air quality in homes and buildings.
Home Tight’s application of Aeroseal technology on ductwork makes it more air tight, allowing for better cooling and heating in your house by making sure you don’t lose conditioned air through the cracks. Be cooler, be warmer, and save more money!!! Find out how at hometight.ca

Customer Care
Happy summer from the Customer Care Team! With good weather comes some tips for good lawncare. In the heat of summer watering your lawn is an important part of helping it grow and be healthy. If you have a fresh lawn that’s just been sodded, you will need to be watering it daily to help it root.
It is best to water it at dusk or dawn whichever your schedule allows. Use a sprinkler that covers most of the lawn and let it run for about an hour. If your lawn is established you can use your judgment as to how much it will be needed. Maybe once a week for an hour or two if we haven’t got any rain. Don’t water mid day as the water will cause burning in direct sun. Remember a healthy lawn is a happy lawn and gives your home great curb appeal.
Warm regards, the Customer Care Team

A message from our President
People often ask me how Doug Tarry Homes got started building ENERGY STAR® and Net Zero Ready homes. The story actually goes back to 2005 and a home called the Waterford Cottage.
While the home was being judged for the local HBA awards, one of the judges, Paul Rawlings, told me it was already performing very close to a new pilot program called ENERGY STAR® for New Homes. He suggested I take a closer look, so I did. We ended up becoming one of the first 50 builders in Ontario to join the program.
From there, moving toward Net Zero Ready homes just felt like the next logical step. We had already been building solar-ready homes for years, and I’ve always believed there’s a better way to build. If we can make homes healthier, more comfortable, and more energy efficient, why wouldn’t we?
Of course, building to these higher standards came with additional costs, but it also meant real savings and long-term value for homeowners. Over the years, I found myself asking the same question over and over: If this is such a better way to build, why isn’t it just the standard?
That question still drives me today. We continue to challenge ourselves to build better homes because I believe that’s what our homeowners deserve, and it’s the right thing to do.
