Blame It All On Our Roots You could say we’re in our rodeo era. Rodeo season is the fashion week equivalent for the Western world. Rather than jet-setting to runways in Milan and NYC, we’re lacing up our latigos for destinations like Denver, Fort Worth, and the legendary Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo where the stakes are high and the buckles are big, and the sartorial savvy are there to see and be seen. The first line launch of each year will be a rodeo release – inspired by, designed for, and launched in conjunction with the greatest show on dirt. Pecos, the inaugural rodeo collection, is aptly an homage to the world’s very first rodeo that took place in Pecos, Texas in 1883. It’s a collection that’s classic in every way, from the palette of primary colors to the nostalgic images and artwork to the timeless toeboxstyle embroidery. It brings luxe leathers to life in silhouettes we’ve never seen and features creative contributions of USPS Forever Stamp artist (and fellow born-and-raised Texan) Ryan Feerer in the collection’s signature print. Year after year, the stock show and saddle savvy are outset for arenas with trucks, trunks, and trailers packed to the brim with rodeo riggings for both horse and human. From here on out, that will include fresh DDR designs fit for the greatest show on dirt. After all, this ain’t our first rodeo.

Putting Our Stamp on Style Inspiration really is everywhere. Even in the corner of an envelope. A couple years ago, we stumbled upon a set of postage stamps that (no pun intended) just stuck with us. Of course the motif, Western wear, initially caught our eye, but the more we studied them, the entire aesthetic really appealed to us; the color combinations, the dedication to detail, and the overall quintessential cowboy vibes. As it turns out, the limited-edition stamps commissioned by the United States Postal Service were the work of graphic designer – and fellow Texan – Ryan Feerer with whom we were fortunate to collaborate on an expansion and adaptation of that whole motif resulting in the Pecos collection’s signature print. Who doesn’t love style with a story?

Our Guide to Getting Rodeo Ready Forget the buckin’ broncs, barrel races, and bull riding, everyone knows all eyes are on the attire! Even if it really is your first rodeo, this tried-andtrue checklist will have you outfitted like an old pro. TIMELESS TOPPER A cowboy hat is about as personal as it gets in terms of a Western wardrobe – it’s gotta suit you in terms of size, shape, and style – so whether you’re going traditional or trendy, clean and classic or decked out and dazzling, there’s no wrong way to do it, just make sure your topper is true to you. TROPHY BUCKLE It’s what the rodeo’s all about, right? You don’t have to have earned yours in the arena (although major kudos to you if you did!), but a showstopping buckle is key to cowgirl couture. You can’t go wrong with a colorful turquoise cluster, but we encourage you to turn up the twang with a statement-sized scrolled sterling silver. BAD*SS BOOTS Put your best foot forward. Your kicks (quite literally) set the tone to your swagger, so don’t be afraid to build your outfit from the bottom up! Everything in between is up to you. Look on the Broadside Who can resist the nostalgic charm of an old rodeo broadside? Nowadays we’d call them posters, and in such a tech-driven world, we hardly pay them much mind anymore, but in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, broadsides were the way to get the word out. These printed public announcements touted info about anything from new inventory at the general store to an upcoming event or entertainment act, like – you guessed it – a good ol’ local rodeo. We’ve always been enchanted by these bits of historical ephemera, and the aesthetic was apt for a collection paying homage to the world’s first rodeo, so we couldn’t resist reimagining rodeo broadsides with our own DDR spin and making them wearable.
