WELCOME TO THE BAYOU It’s deep, dark, moody, and mysterious. It’s part Victorian, part gothic, part swamp. It’s full of character, imagination, and attitude.
The Fall 2026 collection, Born on the Bayou, is steeped in Southern mystery, midnight glamour, and unapologetic excess. Inspired by the textures and contradictions of the bayou, the collection brings together bold prints, tactile fabrics, and a fearless approach to accessorizing. It swirls together styles inspired by the likes of Stevie Nicks, Helena Bonham Carter, and Louisiana Voodoo Queen, Marie Laveau.
pairing the rugged spirit of denim with the plush drama of velvet. We also incorporated a Frenchman’s plaid, a nostalgic pattern reimagined with a distinctly modern attitude. Layered and mixed without restraint, it gives the collection its lived-in Southern character while keeping the vibe decidedly fashionforward. And then there are the accessories – lots of them. Born on the Bayou embraces the “more is more” mentality. Belts are stacked in layers, jewelry piles high, boots make a statement, and every look feels finished with one more unexpected detail. The result is maximalism with a Southern soul: textured, eccentric, and richly expressive.
Tortoise shell is replacing cheetah as the new animal print neutral and it brings a touch of wild sophistication, while crocodile prints add a unique textural appeal, appearing in unexpected places and elevating everyday silhouettes. Velvet-flocked denim transforms a familiar staple into something decadent,

CHANNELING A SOUTHERN GOTHIC ROMANTIC This collection is full of character – and not just character, characters.
We knew the vibe we wanted Born on the Bayou to embody, but at first, we struggled to conceptualize it in a way that was authentic to Double D Ranch. Well, it’s always easier to dress a woman than an idea. So, we created this character who is part Southern lady, part witchy mystery. She has impeccable manners, a Louisiana drawl, and always keeps fresh flowers on the dining room table. But, you suspect she might also have a voodoo doll and some tarot cards in her bedside drawer, and perhaps an Ouija board at the top of her closet for special occasions. She’s feminine but formidable, and slightly mystic in a way you can’t quite pinpoint. She gets dressed according to what version of herself she woke up in that day, she doesn’t give a second thought to what you think of her. She is tight-lipped, but her clothes have volume; her appearance announces her entrance. Her accessories are excessive and unexpected, but also exquisite. You are in awe of her, intimidated by her, and drawn to her all at once.

A LITTLE MARIE LAVEAU When we sit down and sink our teeth
into designing a collection, we are always channeling something, whether that’s a person, a place, a movement, or an era. For Born on the Bayou, it was a little bit of Marie Laveau. Imagine being such a presence that, nearly a century and a half after you passed, your gravesite is still one of the most visited – and considered one of the most culturally significant – in the country. No, it’s not a politician, a priest, or a prophet. It belongs to the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans, Marie Laveau (1801-1881). As you might imagine, her story is a fascinating and complex one, far more than we can get into here and definitely worth exploring. By trade, Marie was an herbalist, a midwife, and a salon owner, but her claim to fame was as a renowned practitioner of Louisiana Voodoo. Some believed her to be a clairvoyant; some thought of her as somewhat supernatural. She was sought after by all echelons of society for her perceived sorcery, and she was held in unusually high regard for a free woman of color in the Deep South at that time. Everything about Laveau’s life is shrouded in legend and lore. She never kept a diary, so much of her story has been passed down by word of mouth through the generations. She’s been the subject of documentaries, a 2020 musical production, and a season of the television series American Horror Story. And, for all her witchy wonder, her legacy still looms large in The Big Easy.

MISMATCHED MUDCAT We never thought we’d be talking swamp
and style in the same sentence, but as it turns out, we might’ve just explored one of our favorite genres yet. Among the characters we ‘created’ for this collection is the born-andbred bayou boy who is so unconcerned with trends that he becomes the trendsetter himself. And that’s where we got to have a little fun with it. We imagined a true man of the land, gathering garments everywhere he goes: a plaid blazer he found in a hunting shack, denim he’s owned for a decade, pieced-together leathers and furs and croc skins he trapped himself. Visualize all of your favorite garments. Now imagine wearing them all at once. That’s kind of the essence of our “mismatched mudcat”. A blazer on top of a leather jacket on top of a pearl snap? Sure. A plaid, a solid, a gingham, and a rug print all at once? Absolutely. Polished on top, distressed on bottom? Perfect. Multiple belts, tiny sunglasses, and a pocket watch just for fun? Aces. There’s a bit of a Mad Hatter vibe to it; none of it should make sense together, but it just… does. Not only does it work, but it also works to a degree that it actually makes you the most fashion-forward person in the room. Listen, we’re not saying you need to take it to the extreme… but we’re also not NOT saying that.

STORY:
WILD BY DESIGN Nature is a beautiful thing. From the flora to the fauna and
even just the essence of the environment, the heartbeat of the bayou pulses throughout this collection.
We incorporated and reimagined almost everything you could imagine from the Louisiana swampland landscape. We transformed crocodile scales into chic dresses and sheer tops, and fashioned real ones into boots and belts. We turned tortoiseshell into sleek silk. We created beautiful blouses boasting Auduboninspired barn owls and blue herons. Bold, blooming magnolias (the state flower of Louisiana) are the forefront of the custom floral print, accompanied by super-subtle alligator tails. We paid homage to deer and dragonflies alike in a gorgeous, beaded goat suede jacket. We even gave a nod to
the tiny critters – the frogs and the mud bugs – in some of our more casual tees. And, while not native to the area, any football fan knows that tigers are integral to the lore of Louisiana. We showed some love to the stripes in a stunning duster, statement vest, and a bold biker. Even our denim was designed to feel as if it were from nature, velvet-flocked to give it a swampy green sheen and an almost algae-like texture. While undeniably luxurious, this whole collection is wild by design.

FRENCHMAN’S PLAID A key factor in the whole mismatched, swampy-Victorian vibe of the Born on the Bayou collection is blending, balancing, and layering high and low, and this plaid print is just right for the part. It has a European, proper, almost professor-like air, which pairs exceptionally (and unexpectedly) well with a casual Henley and some distressed denim. And yet, if you’re not much of a mismatched mudcat yourself, it can be styled to create an elevated, polished look. DIFFERENT TAKE ON DENIM Velvet-flocked denim takes a familiar wardrobe staple and drags it somewhere wonderfully murky.
Reimagined with a subtle green tint, this unusual fabric blends denim’s rugged character with velvet’s soft, tactile surface. The result feels less like traditional streetwear and more like something discovered deep in an overgrown wetland. The green coloring is key to its swampy personality. Mossy, algae-inspired tones create a damp, earthy impression, and rather than looking polished or pristine, the material embraces an intentionally unique, organic aesthetic.
Velvet flocking adds another layer of visual depth. Its short, fuzzy fibers catch light differently from the denim beneath, creating shifting patches of softness and shadow as the garment moves. On jackets or jeans, this contrast can make even a simple silhouette feel mysterious and atmospheric. Velvet-flocked green denim is ultimately about texture and mood.
