Hello West Moors!

June already...I do hope the warmer weather lasts into July and August. The sunshine seems to make such a lot of difference. We are off to Devon for a few days this week which I am thoroughly looking forward to. Hayden is having swimming lessons and really enjoying it, so the pool will be a winner all round I think. Gives me time to sit and have a coffee at the side!

We have a full West Moors Directory for you this month with many local trades… electricians, plumbers, property maintenance, roofing, kitchens, bedrooms, carpet cleaners, blinds, handymen , chiropodists and more. Many clients have been with us since we started 73 editions ago! Do continue to call them - it makes all the difference! INSPIRING WOMEN

PARTY FOR THE HOUSEBOUND In mid May members of West Moors WI hosted their annual party for men and women with special needs. About 40 guests, some with their carers, enjoyed tea and musical entertainment by the Zimmers who distributed numerous small instruments to the audience so that they could join in. This party is one of the many events organised by members of West Moors WI, the next being a talk on the Early History of Wimbledon on 7th July. Monthly meetings are held on the first Thursday each month at the Memorial Hall starting at 2.15 and visitors are very welcome.

WEST MOORS FLOWER GROUP We are a very friendly flower club who meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 10.00am in the West Moors Memorial Hall.

On June 15th, "STRICTLY COME DANCING" will be a demonstration by Karen Cannon and the club competition is entitled "I've Got Rhythm".

On July 20th, "IT’S CARNIVAL TIME" will be a demonstration by Sue Hooper and the club competition is called "Carnival".

Visitors and new members are very welcome, tea/coffee will be served in the interval.

Events happening at West Moors Library during the summer for children This year the Reading Challenge is based on a Circus theme and as such we will be holding craft activities to support this.

On July 28th from 3-4pm there will be a clown puppet craft activity and August 9th 3-4pm a ringmaster craft activity.

Children from the ages 5-10 are welcome to join these sessions - please book your place early by coming into the library for a ticket.

There will also be an activity run by the Family Learning team to encourage parents to interact with their children and again this will involve a craft activity. Visit the library for more information with regards to time and date.

We run informal sessions in the Committee room at the West Moors Memorial Hall on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Monday in each month at 7.30pm and some Sundays at 12 noon (by request).

We have computers which you can use for free, or you can bring your own and we will help you with organising and securing it, as well as the e-mail, photography, word processing, ancestry research and other uses you have for it.

Informal help lasts 2 hours and costs £2

per session. Individual tuition is given wherever possible.

We call ourselves ‘The Village Pump’ as this is where you can get all the news in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.
