WEST PARLEY PARISH COUNCIL Green Belt Building Plans published On January 17 the East Dorset District Council published their “Core Strategy” containing their house building plans in the green belt at West Parley, Wimborne, Corfe Mullen and Verwood. If this ever comes to pass, West Parley’s “share” would be a whopping 520 houses on top of our present 1600. 200 are planned for the Dudsbury heights field and 320 plus shops in the New Road field. A new road system is also proposed with roads running behind the new estates from Christchurch Road to New Road. Details can be found on the Parish Council website, in libraries, and on the Community Notice Board at Parley Cross. A full public consultation will be held between 2 April and 25 June. The Parish Council will ensure that

residents get the forms, and assist where needed. W.P.P.C. will be firmly opposing the plans which are not only an invasion of the key green belt gap separating us from Bournemouth but also an unsustainable 32% increase on our present housing stock. What’s up in West Parley The old and crumbling Scout Hut by the Recreation Ground playground will be disappearing shortly. The playground, already popular with mothers and young children, will be extended and a small pavilion built nearby with chairs and tables. Toilets and other facilities are being arranged with the nearby Parley Sports Club. The West Parley Volunteers have continued to be busy, and walkers will have noticed huge improvements in the walks at the back of the Rec Ground and in nearby Parley Wood.

Parley Rotary - Off and running Its official. Parley now has its own fully fledged Rotary club and it has hit the road running. In fact, just a few minutes before being welcomed into the worldwide Rotary network, the club made its first ever donation! It handed over a cheque for £600.00 to Susan Sutherland, project leader at the Ferndown based Bus Stop club that provides all from a listening ear to advice and more practical help to parents, families, young people and individuals living on Trickett’s Cross. Ian Pounds, who headed up the recruitment drive, was unanimously voted in as President in front of a full house at the Parley Sports & Social Club that in addition to Parley members included a host of Rotarians from across Dorset and Hampshire. Speaking at the event, Ian Pounds said: ‘Its incredible that from an idea born in October last year, we now have a vibrant club of 40, including 11 ladies, all intent on working together to improve the plight of those less fortunate than ourselves.’ ‘We have a number of activities in the pipeline and have already sold

all but a few of the 200 tickets for our fund raising Race Night on 17 February.’ ‘Its also true to say that we have a more relaxed, less formal approach to the traditions practiced by many of the Rotary clubs throughout the world. However, we do share the same ideals and we will certainly pursue them vigorously,’ he closed.
