Dear Poole Residents, Wow what a great summer we have had! I can honestly say that we have never been down the beach quite so much and been able to make the most of our beautiful Dorset coastline. We have had cousins from Hull in the North East visit us and thoroughly enjoy our breath taking beaches as well as wonderful forestry that we have all on our doorstep. How lucky are we to live here. Julia’s House launches Dorset Chip Shop Challenge Chips with everything - including fundraising! Throughout September Julia’s House is encouraging Dorset chip shops to sign up to its Chip Shop Challenge and donate 5p for every bag of chips sold. Ten chippies have already pledged to support the Dorset and Wiltshire children’s hospice charity. Participating shops will display a poster in their window so that customers will know they are helping to raise money for local families caring for a life-limited child. Fred Capel, owner of Chez Fred in Westbourne said: “‘We thought it was a great idea and are delighted to be able to support Julia’s House.” Other shops joining the challenge are: The Fish Place, Marlboro’s, Fish and Fritz, Bennett’s and The Seagull in Weymouth, Chuckles Chippy in Poole and Christchurch, Fish Tales in Boscombe, Relentless fish and chip van and Skate
fish and chips of Poole. Jacqui Greenhaf of Julia’s House said: ”We have had a great response and want to say a big thank you to the shops taking part. We hope more will come on board and spare a few pennies a portion to help us.” Julia’s House is dedicated to providing practical and emotional support for families caring round the clock for a very poorly child. Its nurses and carers are there for the whole family offering frequent and regular support in their own homes in the community or at the Julia’s House hospice in Corfe Mullen. The charity is due to open a second hospice in Devizes, Wiltshire in spring 2017. All-New Fiat Tipo By Tim Barnes-Clay, www.carwriteups.co.uk
I have a soft spot for Fiat. Okay, I’m mean to be objective – but you always remember your first car, right? And mine was a Fiat Panda. There’s no logic involved here – it’s pure emotion – and so, for me, the Fiat brand is synonymous with 1988 and my glorious first days of true motoring independence. The same year I got that Panda, a new Fiat was unleashed – the Tipo. The five-door hatch was boxy but appealed to the media and the masses, winning the European Car of the Year award in 1989. Sadly, the adoration didn’t last and the Fiat Tipo went to the great scrapyard in the sky when it was replaced by the Fiat Bravo and Brava in ‘95. But Fiat may well have been listening to The Stone Roses at some point – particularly the track ‘I Am The Resurrection’. This title must have become stuck somewhere in the spirit of Fiat because here we are today with a brand new Fiat Tipo for 2016. Yes, the car is back from the dead and aims to replicate the early success of the former model. If truth be told, the Fiat Tipo is no stranger to being brought back to life – the moniker was first seen on cars over 100 years ago. And in 2016, Fiat is determined to keep the name going again by going down the Daciaesque value-for-money route. The Italian auto-maker is blunt about its intentions: the all-new Fiat Tipo is a car without frills and, even though it’s more or less emulating Dacia’s marketing strategy, its real competitor is the likes of the Skoda Rapid Spaceback. Now, I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the all-new Fiat Tipo is, in my opinion, better looking than the Czech-made car. This is due to its elegant nose design, and neater overall shape. The Fiat Tipo’s price begins from a remarkably low £12,995 on the road, which is bound to shake up the British motoring market. The fresh Fiat Tipo is hitting our shores in September in five-door hatchback and ‘Station Wagon’ (estate) guises. The body forms are indistinguishable from the rear doors forward and the outside of the Tipo really doesn’t ooze ‘budget’ by any means. It’s only when you step inside that the ‘no frills’ element kicks-in. Some of the all-new Fiat Tipo’s switchgear is from the Fiat 500 range’s parts bin – as is the steering wheel. These components of the car feel good to the touch – it’s the plastics at knee-height on the doors and the dash that give the game away. The synthetic material is so cheap that it sounds hollow and scratches if you run your fingernails lightly over it. But, as with many things in life, there’s light and shade – and the Fiat Tipo’s factory-fitted kit tips the car back into the good books. All 2016 Fiat Tipo models receive six airbags, electric windows, DAB digital radio, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. We tested the flagship ‘High’ trim version (equivalent to Fiat’s ‘Lounge’ spec) of the Fiat Tipo hatchback at its launch in Turin. Equipment at this level includes sat-nav with TomTom LIVE services, climate control, a rear view camera and 17-inch alloy wheels - pushing the price-tag up to £17,995. The car we drove came with Fiat’s well-known 120hp 1.6-litre Multijet II diesel power unit - but the range also offers the choice of a 1.3litre oil-burner and 1.4 and 1.6-litre petrol engines. Behind the wheel,
it’s evident that the all-new Fiat Tipo has been put together so that it delivers comfort over everything else. Turin’s pot-hole ridden roads were a walk-in-the-park for the Tipo hatchback – its soft suspension enabling the car to sail over them without any discomposure in the cabin. Point the all-new Fiat Tipo’s nose into a corner rapidly, though, and body roll is perceptible. The well-weighted steering helps to make up for this slightly, but it still doesn’t make you feel as connected with the tarmac as you’d like to be. From a power point of view, the all-new Fiat Tipo’s 1.6-litre oil-burning unit is nothing exceptional, but the car’s six-speed manual transmission impresses with its positive-shift action. In lower gears lag is obvious and, while it’s a quiet cruiser, things become rowdy from 3,000rpm onwards. It tugs well, though, once that rev range is reached and is swift enough for the class of car. Its carbon dioxide emissions of 98g/km are just below the Skoda Rapid Spaceback, which in 1.6 TDI CR 115 SE Tech guise emits 99g/km of CO2. Pricing is similar - the Skoda being just £675 cheaper at £17,320. The all-new Fiat Tipo gets things right again when it comes to room. It’s even lengthier than a far more expensive Volkswagen Golf, so legroom is bountiful for rear seat occupants. The slanting roofline cuts into head space a little at the back, but this will only concern passengers over 6ft tall. The hatchback’s load-area is seriously decent, too - class leadingly so at 440 litres. In real-world terms, that’s more than enough space for the weekly shop and a couple of toddlers’ buggies. All things considered, the all-new Fiat Tipo is mediocre to drive and its cabin quality isn’t the best. But it does look good; it has bags of room; it’s comfortable and it comes loaded with kit. So even though 2016’s Fiat Tipo has a few negative points, it still represents good value for money.

How just 10 minutes on a Whole Body Vibration machine changed my life, disability and my size Shake and Tone Poole opened in August 2014, to offer people just a pinch of the health, fitness and wellbeing benefits that I experienced. In March 2009, due to a trivial accident where the seat came away from the base. I twisted to the side and back, landing on an out stretched arm, causing a whiplash injury, damaging the muscles in the back of my shoulder. In spring 2013 after Aqua fit, a friend noticed my pain and suggested I went with her to “Flabs”? As soon as she told me they were vibration machines, I said “NO. I can’t use those. They set my pain off immediately. My friend explained that even though they are vibration plates, they move completely different to the gyms plates. These plates oscillate (not linear) and are a passive form of exercise. They are not as intense as the ones in the gym and she believed they would do me some good. I still said no! I didn’t want to take the chance and irritate the nerves more and go through that level of pain and discomfort again. The thought of vibration when you’re in pain, is far from appealing. In the end my friend pestered me for so long, that I agreed to go.
Was it all worth it? Yes! When we got back to the car, she asked how I felt. I realised I didn’t hurt. I was amazed that after just 10 minutes, my pain had gone. I said, “Oh, I’m in the least pain I have been in for years. I don’t hurt. I can feel where the pain should be, but it doesn’t’ feel like pain, it just feels like a thickness, probably where the muscles have locked up?” Her reply was “You’re also standing up straight”. Which I also hadn’t noticed. The immediate benefits I received after just that first 10 minute wobble, on an (Oscillating) Whole Body Vibration machine was remarkable to my health, wellbeing and fitness. Talking about Wildlife...
Love Your Local Heathland Sometimes we can take precious things for granted until we are threatened with losing them. Now is the perfect time of year to stop for a moment and take notice of our heathlands, the seemingly permanent landscape that surrounds us and comes into beautiful bloom at this time of year. With heathland, all is not as it seems. It is not permanent and it does not surround us any more. The historic Great Heath did truly surround the people of south-east Dorset around 200 hundred years ago but over 80% has been lost since 1800. It has been formed by nature and man living in harmony over thousands of years but, if left to itself, would revert to pine and birch woodland. That would mean the end of the rare wildlife that has made heathland its home.
Common and are set to tackle 3 km on Ferndown Common this summer, including waymarking, removing faded posts and clearing vegetation, so that we can balance conservation needs with public use of these special places. Our thanks go to the site owners Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust, Erica Trust (both sites), Dorset County Council and Christchurch and East Dorset Councils (Parley Common). Go grab your purse or wallet. You need it next to you during the five minutes it’ll take you to read this. However, it should be lucrative. Our wallets are a treasure trove of financial information. One of my party tricks is to take a look at someone’s and save them £100s in minutes – and now I want to do it for you. This is my wallet workout, a self-inspection of contents to save you cash. 1. Pull out your debit card – do you have a winner? A debit card reveals where you bank; and mistakes there are a plenty. Do you pay a monthly fee? If so, work out its annual cost (£15/ month = £180) and then ask yourself if the ‘extras’ the bank gives are worth this. If not, cancel it. Plus, if you were flogged it or told you had to have it, you may be able to reclaim all packaged bank account fees (see www.mse.me/reclaimpackagefees). Does your bank make you happy? If not, then www.FirstDirect.com is worth considering switching to. It’s a fee-free account (as long as you pay in £1,000 a month), pays switchers £100 and has a linked 6% savings account. It’s won every service poll I’ve ever done, with 92% of its customers rating it ‘great’. Or www.Co-operativeBank. co.uk is giving £150, plus up to £5.50 if you qualify for its Everyday Rewards scheme, and 70% of its customers rate it ‘great’. Are you overdrawn? Debit cards can be debt cards too, and sometimes costlier than credit. For small overdrafts, you can switch again to www.FirstDirect.com which gives a £250 0% overdraft, and the £100 switch bonus will help clear some of it. Or the www. Nationwide.co.uk FlexDirect gives a 0% overdraft for the first 12 months. For larger amounts, you can use special 0% credit cards to clear it - see www.mse.me/moneytransfers Do you have savings? If so, use your bank account to max the interest, as some now pay by far the highest interest on savings. The top picks are www.Santander.co.uk’s 123, which pays 3% on up to £20,000 and www.LloydsBank.com’s ClubLloyds, which pays 4% on £4,000-£5,000. There’s also the www.Tsb.co.uk Classic Plus, which pays 5% on up to £2,000, plus up to £5-a-month cashback on contactless purchases. 2. Pull out your photo driving licence – is it valid? A whopping 2.2 million licences have a picture that’s out of date. To check yours, look at section 4b on your photocard licence, it’ll show the expiry date. If you don’t and it’s expired, you risk a fine of up to £1,000. You can renew it online at www.gov.uk/renew-drivinglicence or at the post office. 3. Got a credit card(s) that you pay interest on? STOP It’s possible to save £100s or even £1,000s a year by getting a 0%
balance transfer credit card – that’s where the new card pays off debt on old cards for you, so you owe it instead, but at 0%. This means more of your repayments clear the actual debt rather than just paying the interest, making you debt-free quicker. There’s up to 40 months 0% available with a fee, or 24 months 0% fee-free. It’s a big decision, but joining the Organ Donor Register could mean you save or improve up to nine lives. If it’s for you, sign up at www. organdonation.nhs.uk or call 0300 123 23 23. 5. Got a credit card and always repay in full? Make it PAY YOU Every time you use a card, the retailer pays the card firm a transaction fee. With a cashback card, you effectively get this put back in your pocket. As new regulations have cut these fees recently, cashback’s been cut too, yet Amex cards are mostly exempted, so still pay a good whack. The fee-free www.AmericanExpress.com Everyday pays 5% cashback (max £100) for the first three months, then tiered up to 1.25% after. The best non-Amex is http://money.asda.com Mastercard which pays 0.5% cashback (1% in Asda). As Anna tweeted me: “@MartinSLewis Glad I read about Amex cashback card: I’ll get over £200 paid.” Yet only do this if you’ll set up a direct debit to repay IN FULL each month or you’ll pay 22.9% (Amex) or 18.9% (Asda) rep APR interest, which more than wipes the cashback gain. 6. Sign up for a myWaitrose card for FREE daily tea and coffee Get the www.waitrose.com loyalty card – then in most stores you can get a totally free takeaway hot drink, every day from the selfservice machine without buying anything. 7. Not got a credit card…? You’re less protected Pay using a credit card and you get extra protection under the ‘Section 75 law’ – which means buy something costing between £100 and £30,000 on a credit card, and pay for any of it (even 1p) on it, and the card firm’s jointly liable with the retailer for the entire amount. This get-out-of-jail-free card is hugely powerful if the retailer goes bust or won’t play fair, as Michelle found. She tweeted: “Successful Section 75 credit card claim, refunded £125 for non-delivery of phone order, used template on your website, thanks.” P.S.: If you’ve been burnt with credit cards in the past, or have little financial discipline, then ignore this point. Better safe than sorry.

4. LOVE AND HELP CHILDREN Today’s children will become tomorrow’s civilization. Bringing a child into the world today is a little bit like dropping one into a tiger’s cage. Children can’t handle their environment and they have no real resources. They need love and help to make it. It is a delicate problem to discuss. There are almost as many theories on how to raise a child or not raise him as there are parents. Yet if one does it wrong much grief can result and one may even complicate his or her own later years. Some try to raise children the way they were themselves raised, others attempt the exact opposite, many hold to an idea that children should just be let grow on their own. None of these guarantee success. The last method is based on a materialistic idea that the development of the child parallels the evolutionary3history of the race; that in some magical way, unexplained, the “nerves” of the child will “ripen” as he or she grows older and the result will be a moral, well-behaving adult. Although the theory is disproven with ease – simply by noticing the large criminal population whose nerves somehow did not ripen – it is a lazy way to raise children and achieves some popularity. It doesn’t take care of your civilization’s future or your older years. A child is a little bit like a blank slate. If you write the wrong things on it, it will say the wrong things. But, unlike a slate, a child can begin to do the writing: the child tends to write what has been written already. The problem is complicated by the fact that, while most children are capable of great decency, a few are born insane and, today, some are even born as drug addicts: but such cases are an unusual few. It does no good just to try to “buy” the child with an overwhelm of toys and possessions or to smother and protect the child: the result can be pretty awful.

It will be no accident if the child goes wrong: the contemporary society is tailor-made for a child’s failure. It is certainly true that a child needs friends. Try to find out what a child’s problem really is and, without crushing their own solutions, try to help solve them. Observe them – and this applies even to babies. Listen to what children tell you about their lives. Let them help – if you don’t, they become overwhelmed with a sense of obligation which they then must repress. It will help the child enormously if you obtain understanding of and agreement to this way to happiness and get him or her to follow it. It could have an enormous effect on the child’s survival – and yours. A child factually does not do well without love. Most children have an abundance of it to return.

The Adventures of Nellie The Dorset Directories Camper Van Good old Nellie. Well she was really excited this month to be taking Hayden to his first ‘Nipper’ Ocean Championships. This a life saving competition in the sea and on the beach for children aged 8-13. We had decided to make a holiday of it and camp for the whole week, down in Exmouth, Devon. So off we set. Everything, including the kitchen sink, all packed in Nellie and totally surrounding Hayden, quite literally, in the back. I love the journey to Devon. Once passed Dorchester I really feel like I am on holiday. A short lunch stop at Lyme Regis and we were truly on our way. Prattshayes National Trust Campsite in Exmouth was where we were heading. On arriving and seeing our ‘plot of land for the week’ we realised we hadn’t booked a space big enough for Nellie’s huge derrière as well as Kombi, Nellie’s rather imposing awning. In fact it is worth noting, that the older campsites, designed some years ago, do not allow space between each plot. In our case the caravan next door had positioned themselves right up to the very outside of their line. In addition to that their canoe was carefully placed

This was clearly someone who wanted it known... that this was “their land.” We soon realised they were also from ‘the opposition’ of the competition and obviously not to be reckoned with! It was going to be an interesting few days. Due to the position of ‘the caravan next door’ we did get settled but had to have Nellie’s back to the campsite instead of facing everyone, looking like she was sulking! Still girls have their moments as we all know... The staff of the campsite were extremely friendly and helpful. There was a huge barn which was licensed to sell alcohol, had free Wi Fi, some food and Hayden’s favourite, “pick n mix” sweets! Sorted. The first day of the competition was a bit daunting. Hayden was quite clearly stressed with curt comments and long silences. I remember being like that myself, but I have no idea where he gets it from. Even Nellie couldn’t cajole him into smiling much. 29 Club” which Hayden is a member of, is a great team. I am really impressed with their supportive attitude and winning spirit. After rather a bad board race for Hayden, Dave the coach took him off for a man to man talk. That helped a lot. The following day was better all round and really exciting. Liam Openshaw got a gold, his brother Ryan got a silver and several other medals were won too. Hayden got to the semi finals and then the finals of the sprint and came 6th overall. Not bad at National level. I have to say that running on soft sand is not easy! In fact the 1K run was quite a challenge and many children fell in a heap at the end of that one. Its a good job that Nellie didn’t try as we would have needed mouth to mouth resuscitation! I was out of breath just watching. But we know how fit I am, I do like my chairs and a sit-down afterall. Then there was the Beach Flags race... gradually wheedling down to just two runners to see who is the first to grab the pole out of the sand. Boy that is tough! The most exhilarating part for us was when Hayden took part in the Surf Relay at the end. Liam Openshaw was the swimmer. He had to swim right out

Boys lining up for the board relay race to a buoy against the tide, across to another buoy and then swim back in again, some 1000 metres in total. It is quite something to watch. Then Kieran Duffy was the board paddler and he had to paddle for 1500 metres around the course! Hayden was the sprinter at the end and he took his team to the bronze medal position! What a crescendo to finish on. You can imagine the noise... or maybe you don’t want to? It was an amazing two days. Branksome Chine came 8th out of 30 clubs in total! We beat some dedicated Cornish teams (I wonder if any of them were in ‘the caravan next door’?). Dave the coach was ecstatic. Did I spell that right? The children were just incredible and every one of them quite rightly were given a medal for taking part. We spent the next few days a little more relaxedly on the beach, bodysurfing in the waves (Hayden and Stephen that was), playing crazy golf, putting, taking a boat up the River Exe to Topsham and taking a train back to Exmouth, having meals overlooking the beautiful sea and generally having fun. JTYAF Hospitality Day Raises over £10,000 The sun was certainly shinning on the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) for its 8th VIP Hospitality Day at the Bournemouth Air Festival. Guests enjoyed a fantastic flying programme and JTYAF favourites, the Tigers Freefall Parachute Display Team, dropped into the arena, smoke trailing, flying the JTYAF flag! A fantastic sight above the beach at Bournemouth and a great profile raiser for the charity.
The day was a great success raising over £10,000 for local young people which was only made possible due to the kindness and generosity of the many JTYAF supporters. The charity received a wonderful selection of donations from local artists, organisations and
individuals and these formed the basis of a Silent Auction and raffle which raised almost £6000. A wonderful team of Barclays Community Volunteers supported the event and the matched funding from Barclays added to the success of the day. Pete Thornton, Charity Chairman explained, ‘It’s a big team effort and we are so grateful to the Barclays Team for their continued support with our VIP day. On Your Plot Herb Gardens
Nature tends to dictate what we do in the garden and sometimes it’s just too late to plant those seeds, too early to prune that bush and incredibly you are already on top of the weeding. So what can you do to fulfil that urge to work the land? Why start a herb garden of course!

• If you are growing pumpkins for Halloween, you need to support the fruit as it swells and raise it up to keep it off the wet ground and deter slugs. Restrict each plant to no more than three fruits. • Clear up finished crops, clean and store any supports or netting for future use. • Keep planting winter lettuces for a supply of fresh leaves right through autumn. • Fancy fresh strawberries next year? Now is a good time to get new plants established. • Add support to Brussels sprouts by drawing up earth around the stems, or using canes. Most activity on your plot is tied to the seasons, but this month we take a look at one project that can be started off at almost any time of the year - your own herb garden. As we’ve taken to growing more and more of our own food so we have found ourselves getting increasingly interested in trying out new recipes to make the most of all those lovely fresh flavours. Recipe books abound in our kitchen and they all have one thing in common - the use of herbs, and what a variety of them there is! Whether you’re looking for a sprig of fresh mint, a handful of rosemary, or some chopped chives what could be better than being able to choose and harvest them right outside your own back door? Choosing the right site for your herb garden is important, and outside your back door is often a good place to start! Planting near the kitchen makes it easy to pop out for a few fresh leaves when you are cooking, and many of us have a patio which can easily become home to a variety of container grown herbs. Herbs can make an
attractive, fragrant and tasty addition to your borders, or you may prefer to opt for a permanent herb bed. If this is the case you will need to give some consideration to containing the growth of some of the more vigorous varieties. This can be done by dividing the bed (a cartwheel design made with bricks is very attractive), or by using pots sunk into the ground. Herbs comprise of both annual plants, that germinate, grow, flower and die within the year, and perennials that will grow on from one year to the next. Whatever you plant, you will need to find out which type it is and the conditions that it favours. The more hardy perennial types such as thyme, rosemary or mint may be happy outside all year round. One of the advantages of using containers is that tender varieties can be moved under cover during the worst of the winter and even tender annuals like basil can have their season extended by lifting plants to pot up and keep on the kitchen windowsill as autumn approaches. Most types of herb can be raised from seed, but for a quicker start browse the farmers market, garden centre, or even car boot sales for plants that are ready to go. One of the great things about a herb garden is that it can be continually evolving. Look upon it as just the start of a collection, that will grow with time. Adding a new variety can be as simple as picking up a plant that takes your fancy on a trip out and adding a new pot to your collection. As well as using herbs fresh from the garden, you can dry leaves by hanging in bunches and then storing in an airtight container, or use ice cube trays to freeze chopped up leaves with a drop of water. Store the cubes in polythene bags, great for adding to a stew in the middle of winter!

September’s the month to make new friends The local branches of The Oddfellows’ Friendly Society have declared September a great time to take action and make new friends.
Bournemouth Hospitals, Cherry Tree Nursery, Julia’s House, the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance and Alzheimer’s Research, to name but a few.
As part of the annual Friendship Month campaign, throughout September the local branches will be hosting special events, giving people the opportunity to come together, have fun and try something new. Established in 2010, Friendship Month is the Oddfellows’ annual national campaign which aims to raise awareness of the importance of friendship to the nation.

New Food Festival to Open at Merley House Wessex Food Events is hosting a new Food Festival at the stunning Georgian House location of Merley House just outside Wimborne. The Great Witchampton Cheese Robbery Delving into the Priest’s House Museum’s ephemera collection we come across a Victorian reward poster that tells the tale of the ‘Great Witchampton Cheese Robbery’. This poster offers a £20 reward relating to six to eight uncoloured rammel cheeses ‘feloniously stolen’ from the Dairy House, Witchampton, on the night of 11-12 October 1845. The reward was for information that would ‘lead to the apprehension and conviction of the Offender or Offenders’. It was offered by Mr William Burt, owner of the cheeses, and Mr H Rowden, Solicitor and Treasurer of the Wimborne St Giles Association. Rammel cheese has been called ‘the best cheese made in Dorsetshire’, although the recipe appears to have been lost. The name rammel comes from ‘rammilk’, a dialect word for the raw or whole milk. These cheeses must have been highly valued for such a large reward to be offered. The average wage of a Dorset farm labourer in the 1840s was six shillings a week, so a £20 reward would have been the equivalent of more than one year’s pay. We do not know whether Mr Burt recovered his cheeses. It is unlikely that the thieves were ever caught because there was no professional police force to investigate the crime, as the Dorset Constabulary was not established until 1855.

Tastes so good... TOMATO SOUP
As the weather turns slightly colder as we venture into Autumn, there is nothing more perfect than a warming tomato soup. You can add croutons to give it an extra crunch or you can even top it off with basil leaves if you want to dress it up.
Serves 4 Ingredients: 1 tbsp. butter 2 garlic cloves 3 x 400g cans plum tomatoes 500ml vegetable stock 5 soft sun dried tomatoes in oil 1tsp. sugar 125g pot fresh basil pesto 142ml pot soured cream
Equipment: Large pan Method: In a large plan, heat 1 tbsp. of butter (or oil if you prefer) and then crush the garlic cloves and add to the pan. Do this on a low heat for roughly 3 minutes until the garlic has softened. Then, add the chopped tomatoes and the canned tomatoes. Once you have done this, add the sugar, stock and seasoning. Turn up the heat and bring the soup mixture to a simmer. Let it simmer for 10 minutes until the tomatoes have broken down then take off the heat. With a stick blender, whizz the whole mixture together. Add half the sour cream and continue to use to stick blender. Make sure to taste as you go to adjust the seasoning or alternatively add more sugar if you prefer. When it is all blended, serve the soup into bowls. You can either add more sour cream into the bowl or add some pesto on top.
