Welcome to the 2023 Dorroughby Speckle Park Annual Invitational Sale. We are excited to once again present to you an excellent line of quality bulls, females and genetics.

We established our Speckle Park stud in 2018 to compliment and enhance our commercial cattle operation. We have been commercial cattle breeders for over 5 generations, moving from the Northern Rivers in NSW, into Queensland in 1990. Our mission is to produce high performing and good quality cattle that go on and perform for our clients, with our herd continually improving annually due to our breeding selection.

Temperament of our cattle is number one, as can be seen when we have farm visits from prospective buyers and repeat buyers. We continually hear from our purchasers that the temperament of the offspring produced from our bulls is amazing - this leads to better feed conversion, better carcass, and most importantly, better profit.

ABOUT THE STUDS

Dorroughby Speckle Park

We started our journey in Speckle Park cattle in 2018. Having looked around at other breeds we felt that the Speckle Park breed was the one to go with. It had all the requirements that we were looking for to start our stud - fertility, low birth weight, early maturing, high yielding beef with an emphasis on temperament. From there-in we haven’t looked back.

Tom and Lee have been involved in the commercial breed since a young age, both being born and bred on cattle properties in Northern NSW. Tom and Lee moved to Stanthorpe, Qld in 1980, all the while still farming the family farm back over the border. We purchased our first Qld property in 1990. A mixed farming venture at Millmerran. We sold Delemere in 2002 and moved to Dorroughby, Westbrook. Dean was raised on Delemere and after leaving school he worked in the gas and mining industry for 18 years. The love of the land brought him back to Dorroughby. Dean was instrumental in establishing “Dorroughby Speckle Park” along side Tom and Lee.

Being Speckle Park breeders, you get many favourable comments from outsiders about your cattle and it was this, along with the encouragement

from Dr Udo Mahne, that we ventured into our first sale, in 2021.

Throughout this journey we have focused on new genetics sourced from Canada and across Australia. The results of these selections are showing across our herd and their progeny. Our core group of 30 females are selectively matched to the breeds leading sires in the embryo program, focusing on breeding adaptable bulls for the commercial market.

Beth Vide Speckle Park Stud is located in the Linthorpe Valley near Mt Tyson in the beautiful Darling Downs region of South East Queensland. Beth Vide Speckle Park (BVSP) is proudly owned by Mitch and Stacey Warrener.

In the heart of the Darling Downs, BVSP operate amongst some of the most fertile black soils. We cereal crop for seasonal forage and rotational graze, running commercial cattle across natural and improved pastures. The rich nutrients in our region, along with our selective feeding enhances the performance of our cattle. With animal husbandry practices regulated to ensure a strong nutrition balance, what we take seriously is monitoring and controlling our animal

health. We believe this is a matter of integrity, as is providing our clients with the assurance they deserve.

Breeding with consistency leverages performance outcomes. Our cattle must have good temperament, conformation and performance in order to remain in our breeding program. This is the reliability our clients desire to ensure they are not introducing unacceptable quality or an unknown quantity into their programs. This all plays a part in the overall longevity of the breed. This is important to us and the next generation of beef producers, especially those in our family.

We believe in a balanced approach to selections in our program, and we place high emphasis on the animal’s phenotype. All of this aligns to our values of Integrity, Reliability and Longevity

Adelson Speckle Park

Our first introduction to Speckle Park was in 2014, when we visited Laiton Turnham of Waratah Speckle Park. We had only heard about the breed through friends in South Africa. We immediately fell in love with the breed. We entered Australia in 2014 to activate our visas. I had to return to South Africa, as I still had a Boran Stud to attend to. My mother and I finally came to live in Australia in 2017 and joined up with David (my husband), who was already busy building a business here. I have a great love for cattle and we went in search of animals. A door opened for me and I got to take care of Dr Udo Mahne’s donor cows. Udo was my embryologist in South Africa before he left to settle in Australia. An opportunity I am forever grateful for. It provided me the time to get to know the breed and these amazing animals. Thank you Udo, for trusting us with them. Three years later another door opened for us when we were invited to be a part of the Dorroughby Speckle Park Invitational Sale. This is where we got to know the amazing Missinghams and we have never looked back. Thank you, Dean, Tom and Lee for trusting us. We are forever grateful!

Our stud is situated in the beautiful Mount Russell area, 20km from Inverell. We run a herd of 25 stud females and 50 commercial cows, that we use as recipients. I love the art of stud breeding and being a bull breeder, and to breed good bulls you need good females. We, at Adelson Speckle Park aim to produce high performing, quality bulls, for the commercial cattle farmer. -

Pinnacle Park Speckles

Pinnacle Park Speckles was established with our first purchase of stud females in early 2015, after years of prior research into the breed and genetics.

From a background of breeding performance horses that excelled in a variety of fields, came a focus on structure and conformation suited to purpose, knowledge of utilizing genetics to suit that end goal and an unsurpassed passion for breeding the very best that I can. Also an ability to think outside the square, which has served me well on my quest to source outcross genetics from across the globe. (No easy task for a breed with such a limited gene pool). From the very beginning I have believed that having a presence in the show ring plays an important part in promoting the breed. Over the years, Pinnacle Park bred stock and genetics have been a regular sight in the winners’ circle in show rings in QLD and NSW, with numerous broad sashes, and many high point awards and Supremes of Show. Our wonderful breeding female, AAA Unique Destiny also recently won the coveted title of Reserve Champion of the World Speckle Park Female. As a beef breed, we have also grown out and processed our own home bred stock with exceptional comments from both butchers and feedback from consumers of the Pinnacle Park Speckle Park beef.

With only a very small property of 36 acres, located just North of Stanthorpe, at The Summit on Queensland’s Granite Belt, I am very particular about our breeding program, and breeding decisions. I breed only stud animals, and focus on quality outcross genetics with stock in Australia and Canada. 2021 was our first offering at public sale, with our stock previously selling well through private sales. We are excited to offer some very exclusive Destiny daughters in the 2023 sale. Many thanks to the Missingham family for inviting me once again to be a part of this years sale.

All cattle must be transported from the sale location by Monday 4th September. We can continue to feed and care for your purchased animals up until this date, however no responsibility is taken for any injury, mishap or death after the fall of the hammer. It is important that when your bull arrives at his destination after sale date, that he is accompanied by cows or steers as companions. VISITOR SAFETY

Every care has been taken to ensure your comfort and safety for both our open days and sale day. Please be cautious and aware when moving around the sale animals. No children are to enter the sale pens or loading area when animals are present.

HERD HEALTH

All animals in the sale have met with necessary health requirements. All bulls, heifers and cows were vaccinated from 3 months with 7 in 1 with a 6 week booster, plus have had their annual booster. They have all been tested for Pesti Virus and are certified Negative. All bulls were vaccinated for Vibrio and Three Day Sickness and have had their booster. A copy of their vaccination records, test results and individual breeding/crush side results will be provided to every buyer. These can also be requested prior to sale for any animals you are looking to purchase. All bulls and females have been Tick Fever Vaccinated, however if you are located in a Tick area, it is recommended to continue with Tick treatments as required.

ADVICE DISCLAIMER

All vendors are willing to provide assistance for those seeking guidance on their sale animals. However, the final decision is that of the purchaser and it is encouraged that people either inspect the cattle thoroughly on sale day and the open day or on private inspection.

INSURANCE

We recommend buyers organize insurance through their agent or Elders Insurance (Rockhampton) Nathan Fairley and his team offer competitive and comprehensive stud stock insurance on your purchases. Nathan and his team can be contacted on 07 4923 7394. Alternatively speak to one of the Elders team at the sale and we can organise cover for you on the spot. No vendors of this sale take responsibility after the fall of the hammer, and that in the event of infertility, injury or mishap they contact their insurance company.

GUARANTEE

All consigning studs have taken the utmost care in ensuring the sale animals are sound for breeding at the time of the sale. All sale bulls are guaranteed breeders and come with a Breeding Soundness Evaluation certificate, and have passed their crush side veterinary examination and Bulls over 14 months have results available for Morphology. It is the buyers’s responsibility to insure sale animals for infertility, injury or mishap.

Our females are either PTIC on sale day, have previously bred calves, or are young heifers that have had their reproductive organs checked by an independent veterinarian and come with a breeding health certificate. All females over 12 months old have been palpated to ensure soundness of reproductive tract, including the presence of 2 fully formed ovaries. Females are guaranteed to be fertile, unless the purchaser has entered the female into a flush program.

Guarantees provided by vendors can be full monetary refund (less salvage value), a replacement provided of a suitable equally valued animal, or a credit for a future purchase - whichever is mutually agreeable to both vendor and purchaser. If in the unlikely event a claim against our guarantee is made, a qualified vet certificate is to be provided to the vendor outlining the claim.

DNA TESTING

All animals in this sale have a 50k or 100k SNP Profile, are parent verified and pedigree assured. They were also tested for Myostatin, red gene and poll genes. Most animals also received a leptin classification. These genetic profile codes are explained in the below table.

Myostatin

NC Free of the nt821 myostatin gene.

C Carrier of one copy of the nt821 myostatin gene. It is recommended to breed a carrier animal to a non-carrier.

EMBRYO LOTS

All embryos offered for sale are for domestic use only. These embryos are not eligible for export.

SPECKLE PARK MEMBERSHIP

Dorroughby, Beth Vide, Adelson and Pinnacle Park are all members of SPI and all sale animals are registered, parent verified and DNA tested, unless otherwise specified.

Each animal has a separate file with a certified pedigree, Pesti Test results, health certificate and SPI Transfer Form that will be presented to the new owner after the sale.

An animals breeding value can be defined as its genetic merit for each trait. With a young breed and limited data available at this stage, it is not possible to determine an animal’s true breeding value, an estimation can be made. These are called EBV’s (Estimated Breeding Value).

EBV’s for each animal are listed in the sale catalogue and are used as a guide only.

Whilst EBV’s can be used as an estimate, all animals for sale have been scanned and these raw data figures have been published in this catalogue. We believe as Speckle Park is such a young breed, that both EBV’s and Raw Data can be used in conjunction to help you decide what animal best suits your needs.

Sired by El Guapo, Samson has shown great growth for age, while remaining free moving with good feet. Fertility plus with 90% Motility and 80% Morphology. An impressive IMF of 7.4%, we have so much confidence in his ability in the commercial market, we have collected him for in-herd and commercial use.

One of our favourites here, due to his length, style and muscle pattern.

These traits have been handed down by his powerhouse Dam, DPS Q18, who is quickly becoming our most valuable Dam. Free moving with a hint of softness, Stinger will be a great all round bull that will compliment any herd. A mammoth EMA of 133 at just 22 months. Top 20% for 400 and 600 Day Weight.

S21 is a pretty impressive stud Sire in the making, judging him by his appeal. He is a very proud bull with real presence about him. Quentin is quiet and soft natured. Top 5% for Gestation Length and top 25% for Birth Weight, top 20% for 600 day, top 10% for Maternal Cow Weight and top 25% for Carcase Weight. One for the outcross enthusiasts, Santos is one of the softest bulls we have bred. His Sire is Moovin Zpotz Falcon 3X, out of Cora Crossroads 45C, a cow that Landon from Calico Creek has a high opinion of. He has added length, whilst maintaining thickness across his top line. Santos will breed great calves for the feeder market.

A beautifully muscled and well balanced bull with one of our highest scanned EMA’s of 125.

Simba has a straight backline, with the advantage of having the thickness. He moves freely in the paddock, and is sure to produce great yielding progeny. Typical of most Cause N Effect progeny, Simba sits in the top 5% for Scrotal Size.

We love the Underhill All Out’s, due to their thickness and front end power.

Crossed with our DPS Q1 line, Stone Cold doesn’t lose out too much in the way of fat coverage. Stone Cold has been lightly used on some of our females. Top 10% for EMA.

A son of Colgan’s Baxter, Sanchez is a free moving young Sire with plenty of eye appeal. Well-muscled without losing softness, and a strong topline that has plenty of width. A great bull to breed for the feeder market. Top 20% for 200, 400 and 600 Day Weight and Gestation Length.

T6 is a silent performer with good growth figures (top 15% for 200 and 400 Day Weights).

He is in the top 25% for 600 day and Maternal Cow Weight. He is in the top 25% for Rib and Rump Fat and top 20% for IMF. He is a very quiet, docile bull that is easy to work with. His Dam, Adelson Kylah Q6, is one of our best flushing cows. She has a very good udder with ample milk and very good teat spacing. Tick fever, Vibrio, 3 Day, 7 in 1 and Pesti vaccinated.

If you are searching for a low birth weight, short gestation bull to go over your heifers, look no further. Another well-balanced bull with a great topline and front end power. Dorroughby Stallion sits in the top 1% for Gestation

A Leptin T/T bull not to look past. Serengeti is thick set and hormonally balanced throughout with a moderate frame.

Mainstream Eldorado, his Sire, needs no introduction in the Speckle Park arena with top 1% Milk EBV’s. Serengeti’s Dam has a magnificent udder making him a top choice for breeding females in your herd. The raw data behind this bull is impressive with a good balance of fats, IMF and EMA recorded.

We’ve always liked the make-up of Dorroughby Stalone, having a smooth coat, deep front end, straight topline and his stylish, free-moving nature. One for the heifer bull buyers!

Fertility Plus! A larger frame type that will continue to grow into himself.

Dorroughby Sinclair has always been the largest of his contemporary group, being in the top 5% for 200 day, 10% for 400 and 600 Day Weight and Scrotal Size. Another free moving type, with some great scan results. His motility and morphology results were also some of the best of the Dorroughby offering.

T3 was a very impressive calf since birth. He is a medium frame early maturing bull. He is in the top 15% of the breed for Rib and Rump Fat - attributes that will keep him in good condition, no matter what season we are in. His Dam, Waratah Melisa G34, needs no introduction and has produced many show winning offspring. Tick fever, Vibrio, 3 Day, 7 in 1 and Pesti vaccinated.

A great, later maturing type that has continued to get better with age.

The largest of his contemporary group, and plenty of scope to grow further, we think Tobias will breed exceptional females. On raw data, Tobias has the best Scrotal of 41cm of the Dorroughby Offering. Top 5% for 200 and 400 Day Weight and top 10% for 600 Day Weight.

For those looking for a low birth weight bull, whilst still maintaining growth and carcase traits, Dorroughby Sambo fits the bill.

A well put together bull, with a deep front end, beautiful head, running through to his straight top-line. Sambo scanned one of the best of the Dorroughby consignment across the board and will breed great soft calves.

Kenya T4 is an early maturing bull with a short Gestation Length (top 15%).

T2 will be a good bull for any commercial operation. He has got that length of leg under him that can easily cover great distances and has good feet. Parker T2 also has a very strong back.
