#StringerLearning@HOME Student Work Gallery - Edition 2 Hello parents, carers and students, We hope this #StringerLearning@Home Gallery finds you safe and well. We are now at the end of our fourth week of remote learning and the work being submitted continues to show a very positive attitude to learning, even in such extra-ordinary circumstances. Your teachers are working hard to set great assignments and you’re responding with dedication, creativity and flair. This week we want to share and celebrate some of the wonderful work you’ve been doing in drama, history and maths. As you can see from this issue, Stringer students know how to study independently and rise to a challenge. Stay safe, be kind to yourself and others and keep this marvellous work coming in.

#STRINGERLEARNING@HOME GALLERY EDITION 2

DRAMA DEPARTMENT How to approach the challenges of teaching a creative and collaborative curriculum remotely? We have tried to give our students a choice of activities that, whilst linked to our units of work, are engaging and achievable at home. Students have responded with real imagination and an attention to detail: production shoe box sets, costume design for familiar plays and revision tasks for set texts, the work we have received has been incredible demonstrating real resilience and hard work. Well done everyone! Looking forward to working together again soon.

The Drama Department are regularly updating their Twitter and Instagram with #StringerLearning@Home work and projects. Make sure you give them a follow, their handles can be found on the last page of this document.

HISTORY DEPARTMENT The History department have been asking students to complete research projects on their favourite topics and we have loved seeing what the students are interested in and the quality of their research. We are learning about the same topics as normal and enjoy seeing the enthusiasm and creativity of our students. There are some brilliant History resources on BBC Bitesize and Youtube that we are recommending to our students. There has been some excellent learning on medieval monarchs by Year 7, the Age of Exploration by Year 8 and the suffragettes by Year 9. Year 10 have been continuing to learn about Germany 1918 to 1929. Year 10 - Excellent work on prioritising the challenges in Germany after WWI & great storyboarding to understand the key events of Hitler’s life.

MATHS DEPARTMENT All Year groups have been submitting some excellent work. Year 10 have been mainly working through MathsWatch and their webinars start this week. Students are expected to watch the videos and makes notes to save for revision before completing the online activity. This allows teachers to review their work and give them support to improve. KS3 students have been completing a mixture of MathsWatch and paper-based tasks. It has been lovely to see their determination and resilience to not only complete tasks but also to review and edit them for extra achievement points. Year 7 – This student has watched and made notes on the relevant MathsWatch video before completing the task. She then also identified an area for improvement to help her going forward.
