D O R O T H Y S T R I N G E R ENRICHMENT WEEK Monday 15th - Thursday 18th July 2024
creativity I resilience I respect
Introduction
In the penultimate week of the academic year we are planning four days of Enrichment Activities for all students in Years 7 – 9. These will take place from Monday 15 July to Thursday 18 July 2024, and we will be offering students a wide range of activities that will give them an opportunity to learn outside of the classroom or in a different way. This is part of our extra-curricular offer, and we understand how important it is that students are able to be given opportunities that are different and enriching, which supplement their learning in the classroom. Activities may give them the chance to face a personal challenge that takes them out of their comfort zone or to develop, or further develop, a new or established skill. They will have the opportunity to work with staff and other students in new ways which will help their personal development and allow them to engage in deeper learning. In this booklet, you will find details of all the activities being offered this year. Activities offered may be limited to certain year groups or they may be open to all three year groups. These details are in the booklet along with any costs and equipment needed by students. The contents page provides a quick overview to assist with this. We have tried to keep the cost of activities as low as possible. The Pupil Premium cost is also shown, which is the cost for students who receive Pupil Premium funding support. This is indicated next to the PP symbol. Please read this booklet together with your child and examine the activity details carefully. This will help to ensure your child selects an option that is appropriate for their interests and that Enrichment Week is as enjoyable and successful as possible for all involved. We are asking students to make first, second and third choices because many activities have a limited capacity, so it is not guaranteed that students will receive one of their top choices.
There is an online form for you to complete here. To secure a place on your child’s chosen activity, we require full payment by Friday 24 May 2024. It is important that your child selects an activity that you have already approved with them at home. Next steps: • Look at the options with your child • Complete student choice form giving a first, second and third choice • Choices forms must be completed by Friday 24th November 2023. We will allocate and confirm choices of activities in January 2024 Full payment for activities will be required by Friday 24th May 2024. Thank you for your support - we hope everyone has a worthwhile and memorable experience.
Mr. Hillier, Headteacher
