Welcome to the 2022-2023 Girl Scout Year! As October 1st approaches, we are excited to share this year’s edition of Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson’s Girl Experience Program Guide. Use this throughout the year as your handy resource for everything GSHH has planned this year for your girls!

We are excited to present an expanded number of in-person programming options which utilize more properties throughout the council in concert with virtual programming options to allow Girl Scouts and their families to design their ideal Girl Scout Experience.

Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc. remains committed to providing exceptional girl-led programming that can be done as a troop, Service Unit, or individually for a girl and a family member. There’s no one way to be a Girl Scout and GSHH’s programming allows Girl Scouts to develop their leadership skills and support their interests along the four main pillars of Girl Scouting:

q Life Skills q Entrepreneurship

The Girl Experience at Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson

GSHH takes the guesswork out of planning activities! Girls can sign up for programs with their troop, as an individual who is part of a troop but wants to explore her own interests, or as an independently registered Girl Scout (Juliette).

The Girl Experience Program Guide contains:

Earth Day/Project Camp Love

Description: GSHH’s Camps are special place to make new friends and create amazing memories. Now is the time to give back to camp. Family Fun & Movie Night

Description: Are you ready for a night out under the stars having fun and watching a movie on our giant outdoor screen? When the sun goes down, the fun will start with crafts, games, and snacks. Stay for a late night movie on the lawn.

For 11/18: Come join us for a fun family movie night! Settle in with snacks, comfortable sit-upons while watching a great movie.

First Aid Certification

Dates: Saturday, January 28, 2023 & Thursday, February 23, 2023

Level: Cadette - Ambassador C S g

Description: This course prepares you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies. At the end of this course, Girl Scouts will earn the First Aid Badge and certify them in the Health & Safety Institute’s First Aid, CPR, and AED for children and infants.

Certification from this course is good for two years. This is a Blended Learning course. That means there is an online knowledge portion of the course that must be completed prior to this in-person skills session. Two weeks before your course, you will receive an email with instructions and a link to complete the online class, which will take approximately 3 hours and may be paused and resumed. When you complete the online class with a passing score, you will receive a certificate of completion. You must bring this certificate with you to the in-person course.

*This course requires you to get up and down from a kneeling position and deliver high quality chest compressions and rescue breaths from a kneeling position.*

Description: Participate in the GSUSA National Fighting Hunger Service Project in November. Food collection boxes will be located at our properties for nonperishable goods, which will be distributed to local food banks. On 11/29, drop by anytime from 4:00pm - 7:00pm to make thank you cards and letter to share with our local food bank heroes.

Description: Juniors will take the first step to earning their Bronze Awards. Girls will complete the Get Moving Journey activities and create a plan to complete their take-action project. Attendees should bring a bagged lunch and refillable water bottle.

Description: The holiday season is a great time to celebrate, care, and share. Baking is a great way to learn about the history of different cultures. We will be baking three different delicious holiday dishes and learn about the cultural history behind each dish and gain new baking skills. (Ingredient lists will be provided prior to the event - adult supervision and participation is necessary.)

*Girls can sign up for as many sessions as they wish, and are welcome to attend one, two, or all three if they wish.

Description: Cadettes will take steps toward their Silver Award. Girls will complete the Think Like an Engineer Journey activities and will create a plan to complete their take-action project. Girls will get prepared for their Silver Award with getting familiar with requirements and understanding the paperwork. Attendees should bring a bagged lunch and refillable water bottle.

Dig up flower secrets in this badge!

Description: An overnight opportunity for girls and their female parent/guardian to experience sleep away camp. Come enjoy camp activities including game playing, arts & crafts, camp songs, and cooking a meal over a campfire! This short but action packed program is a great opportunity for young campers to experience all that Rock Hill Resident Camp has to offer, and for the adults to relive their memories while making new ones with their camper. Please bring a bagged dinner and a reusable water bottle. S’mores and breakfast will be provided.

Description: The Girl Scout Advisory Team invites you to come and enjoy a fun filled weekend at Rock Hill Camp. You will enjoy outdoor activities, outdoor badges, life skills, STEM, professional development and a party on Saturday night. Description: Safe@Home is a 90-minute program that teaches preteens how to practice safe habits, and prevent unsafe situations, to care for themselves when parents are away for short periods of time and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Participants are also introduced to the Safe Sitter® First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses.

q If you already have an account: Sign in using the email address we have on file. If you don’t remember your password, click the “Forgot my password” link with instructions on how to reset your password.

q If you don’t have an account: Click on Create an Account and follow the instructions.

q Note: You can pay for a program using your Dough-si-Dough or Cookie Credits. To use, please call Customer Care with your Dough-si-Dough card numbers and they will process the registration for you.

q Programs are subject to change pending update to COVID-19 guidelines or other restrictions.

q Be mindful of registration deadlines - these can be up to two weeks prior to the event. Some programs have minimum registration requirements that must be met for the program to run and may be subject to cancellation if not enough people register before the deadline.

Confirmation Notices

q Confirmations will be automatically sent to the email on file for the registered adult (parent/caregiver of the girl) with program details at the time of registration. Please confirm we have the correct email on file when registering for programs.

q You can view all program registrations by logging in to your myGS account under the My Events tab. This will list all the programs you have registered for and the payment status.

q For virtual programs or webinars, you will receive the log-in information 1-2 days prior to the program.

Cancellations/Refunds

q GSHH has a no refund policy on program registration

q GSHH will allow a transfer to another program due to extenuating circumstances. GSHH must be notified in writing 10 business days prior to the program/series start date and the new program must be selected at that time. GSHH does not hold transfer requests to be applied at a later date. All requests must be received in writing and sent to: customercare@girlscoutshh.org

q Refunds will only be available if GSHH cancels the program.
