PurposeoftheRole
ToleadandmanageDRFCMedicalServicesandPhysiotherapyprovisionfortheelite squadandfurtherdowntheclubasbudgetsallow,audit,andmaintainstandards(see RFUminimumstandardsmedicalcriteriadocument2023/24
Duties&Responsibilities:
OverallResponsibilities
Toleadonaccuratemedicalandmusculoskeletaldiagnosisandoversee treatmentandrehabilitationoftheMen’sSquadbyidentifyinginjuredplayerspost gameortraining.
Toorganisephysiotherapysupportforrestofclub(includingoverseeingand mentoringwomen’s,youthandcolts’service)
Toleadonrecruitmentandrotaofallmedicalstaffandensureappropriate qualifications. Toincludebutnotlimitedto,CharteredPhysiotherapists, RehabbersandDoctors.
Ensuringevidence-basedpracticewherepracticableandeducatingplayers
Toleadoncommunicationandimplementationofreferrals,scansandsurgerywith SPIREStAnthony’s.
TocommunicateandmanageillnessessuchasCovid-19inliaisonwithclubdoctor toensuresafemanagementofplayingsquadwhilstunderstandingDRFChasa largecommunitysectionandexternalusersofthefacilities
Formulate,co-ordinateandsupervisedetailedrecordedrehabilitation programmesfor1stxvsquadplayerswithS&Candcoaches.
TosupportHeadofS&Casrequired.
Keepingdocumentationonallaspectsofinjurymanagementinaccordancetothe standardssetbytheCharteredSocietyofPhysiotherapy(CSP)andHealth ProfessionsCouncil(HPC)withVALDandTrelloonlinesystemandReturn2playfor concussionmanagement.
Whereappropriateidentifyandfacilitateappropriatecommunicationmethodsin liaisonwithHeadCoach Meetingoutsideoftrainingearlyintheweektoidentify prioritiesfortheweek.
Provideinpersonoroverseeprovisionofmatchdayphysiotherapycoverfor PerformanceSquadandeveningtrainingsessionsandensureadequatecoverif notavailablewithasmuchnoticeforteamaspossible Thistobeagreedin advancewiththeheadcoach
Procurementandmaintainingalltape/equipment/drugsrequiredtoallowallthe DRFCphysiostocarryouttheirduties Checkallsuchequipmentandrecord Attend,contributetoandprovideregularreportsatappropriatemeetingssuchas PlayingGroupmeetingsandDRRFCBoardmeetingsasable
AttendappropriateCPDeventstoensureknowledge/practiceremainsuptodate andrelevant.Beawareofanddedicatepersonneltotheantidopingcontrol program
LiaisewithDRFCovermedicalcoverforeventsinternalandexternalandensure annual1staidcoursesforcoachesandkeystaff.

Qualifications
Essential: PhysiotherapyDegree
RecognisedPitchsideQualification. Validandup-to-dateDBScheck.

MaintainingPHICISqualificationfundingprovidedbyDRFC
Skills
