The View from the Chair
Shaun Hammond
Today at the Big Field DRFC extends a warm welcome to our guests from Tonbridge Juddians RFC - one of our more local teams, especially welcomed following last week’s long haul to North Walsham.

In last Saturday’s game, in very difficult conditions and despite getting on the wrong side of the ref, the team put in a high quality display in the second half to emerge worthy and clear winners and maintain our drive for a top 3 finish. I was also pleased to see TJs’ results against our dear friends from Worthing as it helped us close the gap!
I expect an extremely close and high quality game today. Much credit to our players, Armand and the team for the preparation as this is our 10th game without a break. If the structured season and player welfare is paramount this should not occur.
I would like to welcome and thank Veloce as our Spotlight Sponsor today, your support is very valued and we hope your employee has a great game today! I would also like to sincerely thank our other Sponsors in attendance today Chris and W Songhurst, Ben and Stonebridge Corporate Insurance and Paul from Beavis Morgan - your support is much appreciated.

Welcome back to The Big Field today.
It’s been a while since we have been at home. With April finally here, it feels like the summer activities can start.
A special welcome to our guests from TJs day. We had a tough day at the office at your place in December. The ground was wet and a few yellow cards made our afternoon a challenging one.
Both sides have had a few good wins - and losses - in recent times which makes today’s fixture even more important, as both teams want to sign off their season on a good note.

A warm welcome to all our sponsors and our guests today too. Community rugby is truly alive at Dorking with our Colts teams winning their cup finals and the rest of the club flourishing, from our Women’s section to our Derelicts. I hope you all enjoy your day here with us today.
Back to the rugby. Personally, I am looking forward to a good response from the Dorking lads after we ended last weekend on a high in some really terrible conditions.
