Let us seize the day and the opportunity and strive for that greatness of spirit that measures life not by its disappointments but by its possibilities, and let us ever remember that true gratitude and appreciation shows itself neither in independence nor satisfaction but passes the gift joyfully on in larger and better form.

Welcome to Door County Auditorium!

Thank you for your presence here as we commemorate our 35th Anniversary Season and the Inaugural Season of our new venue, The Cramer Exchange. Though separated by three and a half decades, both projects were made possible by dreamers, doers, the hard work of many skilled individuals, and immeasurable donations of time and financial resources from our community, for the benefit of our community. You may have noticed that our name recently changed from Door Community Auditorium to Door County Auditorium. While community remains at the heart of our mission and programs, the name change: 1) Shares our collective love and pride for this beautiful county we call home 2) Goes with the flow… over half of folks already call us Door County Auditorium 3) Addresses the confusion that comes from an unaffiliated Southern Door Community Auditorium 34 miles to the south 4) Focuses more attention on our programs and partners — a couple extra syllables and characters add up in print and radio ads.

Much like the initial effort to build DCA, the journey of establishing a new venue has come with twists, turns, and tumult. Together, our team faced Covid, tariffs, supply chain issues, and dueling construction projections on both sides of the street. The five-plus year project was also seasoned with the stuff of life: births, deaths, retirements, and community transitions. Through it all, we remained committed to the belief—as articulated by Angeles Ariens—that, “Dancing, singing, storytelling, and silence are the four universal healing salves.” We are proud to add capacity and new salves to our medicine bag in these times.

Our new venue supports, strengthens, and sustains the original dream of DCA. The Cramer Exchange’s gathering hall complements the existing auditorium and provides a more intimate setting for concerts, lectures, movies, and breaking bread. The patio, bar, and fire ring offers a physical invitation to share music, drinks, and stories. The entire complex supports learning, deep listening, dancing, and socializing with its flexible and thoughtful amenities. And, the education wing will plant seeds for the future. We are excited to share it all with you.

This summer, prior to all DCA-presented performances, we will present free, pre-show music performed by local musicians (see p. 24 for the Okarma Concert Patio Line-up). Cold beverages and fun snacks are available for purchase. We’ll also host a few post-show parties next door. The Cramer Exchange’s first season includes magic, comedy, movies, lectures, arts instruction for young and old, concerts in the round, private events, and performances paired with food. We are intentionally experimenting with programming, A/V capacities, and audience configuration to gauge what works best in the space. Results will inform future seasons.

As we open this special season, we continue to raise funds to close our campaign, address the finishing touches of the project, and bridge our campaign pledge timing gap. Donations of all sizes are welcomed and needed and will be listed alphabetically in the main entrance. We’d love to add your name to our community of supporters.

With appreciation for the first 35 seasons and anticipation for the next,

Thank You for Making Dreams Come True!

The Cramer Exchange officially opens with the kick-off of the 2026–2027 Season, Friday, June 12, 2026.

With amazing community support, we near the successful completion of The Encore Campaign. Finishing gifts are still needed to help us complete the final phase and realize our shared vision. Please help us close the pledge timing funding gap and complete the finishing touches to The Cramer Exchange’s outdoor spaces, remaining A/V and kitchen equipment, and, the Education Wing’s furnishings, instruments, and program needs.

THE Link Gallery OF Children’s Art

Beginning in the early 1990s, The Link Gallery at Door County Auditorium featured regional, national, and international artwork created by a mix of professional and aspiring adult and student artists. The space was aptly named The Link Gallery because the gallery corridor physically connected the auditorium with Gibraltar Schools, and its exhibits would link performances with educational opportunities and visual art with the performing arts.

More than two decades and dozens of captivating exhibits later, the space was re-dedicated in Spring 2015 as The Link Gallery of Children’s Art, Door County’s first and only exhibit space dedicated solely to the exhibition of artwork that portrays the world through the eyes of children. The space continues to celebrate the limitless connections between education, performing arts, visual arts, nature, community, and the broader world around us.

During the academic year, The Link Gallery of Children’s Art features 3–4 professionally presented exhibits. Children at various age levels from all Door County schools as well as those who are home-

schooled are invited to participate. During the school year, exhibits focus on providing a window to the world and educational experiences for children who live here. Summer exhibits have themes that illuminate aspects of Door County for residents and visitors alike. The space also presents traveling exhibits featuring art created by children from other parts of the country and the world. A wide variety of themes and artistic media are explored, ranging from the natural environment, cultural traditions, historical events, to values such as trust, kindness, and generosity.

Trey Perlman, Grade 12, Gibraltar

This exhibit features Door County student artwork from various grade levels. Please enjoy this window into the thoughts and creative inspirations of youth.

The Link Gallery of Children’s Art at Door County Auditorium is an exhibit space dedicated to showcasing artwork by youth throughout Door County and the world beyond. We are excited to present the fresh and imaginative artwork that comes from the hands, hearts, and minds of children.

Be a part of something wonderful! Become a member of Friends of Gibraltar at friendsofgibraltar.org.

The Link Gallery of Children’s Art is a collaboration of Door County Auditorium, Friends of Gibraltar, and Gibraltar Area Schools.

For a listing of upcoming Link Gallery of Children’s Art exhibits, visit: www.dcauditorium.org

Eloise Leist, Grade 2, Gibraltar
Molly Virlee, Grade 10, Gibraltar

Friends of Gibraltar began in 1982 with a group of parents from Gibraltar Area Schools wanting to support experiential education and engage the school and the community. Friends of Gibraltar programs take place during the school day with entire grade levels participating. Programs are developed with Gibraltar teachers to ensure inclusivity and connection to curriculum goals. In addition to inclusivity, the organization is committed to providing meaningful opportunities to all students within the school day, at no additional charge to the students.

Friends of Gibraltar provides programs and projects for all students in grades 4K-12 for a total of about 300 programs per school year! Programming is a

combination of local experiences with workshops and field trips, overnight leadership retreats, outdoor science education, and projects and programs that bring creative professionals from all over the world to Door County.

Friends of Gibraltar is now part of Door County Auditorium but continues to maintain its own programs, staff, and designated revenue. This deepened partnership supports FOG’s experiential education goals for students, staff, and the community; encourages administrative efficiency; and, strengthens DCA and FOG’s collaborative presentation of The Passport Program, a series of unique cultural and educational experiences, bringing the world to Door County students.

Hearing Is Believing!

Thanks to generous community support, Door County Auditorium is the first public performing arts venue in Door County to install a hearing loop system. This emerging technology significantly improves our venue’s comfort and accessibility for our patrons with hearing loss.

What are Hearing Loops?

Hearing loops provide an in-ear loudspeaker that cuts out a significant amount of background noise for audience members with hearing aids or cochlear implants.

A typical hearing loop system consists of a microphone, an amplifier, and a thin copper wire, usually installed around the outer edges of a room. The wire is able to pick up the sound from a microphone which creates a magnetic field that transmits the sound directly to the hearing aid.

How to Use DCA’s Hearing Loops

In order for the hearing loops to work properly, hearing aids must be equipped with a telecoil, or T-coil. The T-coil in the hearing aid must also be activated and turned on, which can be done with a simple flip of a switch. About two-thirds of hearing aids and all cochlear implants on the market in the U.S. are already equipped with a T-coil. This T-coil program must be activated by an audiologist. Talk to your audiologist to find out if your instruments can have both a T (no background noise pick up) and an MT program (blended micro-phone & T-coil program) for improved hearing at concerts and lectures.

If you do not have a T-coil equipped hearing aid or cochlear implant but wish to benefit from our hearing loop system, please ask for a special headset at the box office window.

COFFEEHOUSE CONCERTS

DATES: JAN 16, JAN 30, FEB 6, FEB 20, MAR 6, APRIL 10, MAY 1, JUNE 5

Lineup TBA

DCA’s well-loved series gets a refresh. An expanded lineup of concerts will take place at The Cramer Exchange beginning this winter. The deep listening coffeehouse environment and cozy fireplace vibe fans have long enjoyed will remain, but now with the addition of extra capacity and beer and wine sales. Artists from Door County or with Door County roots are invited to submit their performance proposals by August 1. Preference will be given to artists with professional promotional materials (brief bio & photos), an established or growing fan base, a concert plan different from other local public concerts, and, new collaborations with other artists (could be as simple as two acts each doing 50 minute sets in one co-billed night). Submission details will be available on our website by July 1.
