Happy Independence Day

Editorz Notez

A lot has happened since the last issue of BB. We had an EF3 tornado come right over our house here in Nash County. We were blessed with only trees down and minor damage to our home but boy, was it scary!!! We have been busy with the cleanup and dealing with our insurance company, roofers, tree guys, and home improvement folks. We lived amungst the pines but we now live on top of “clay hill”. We had all of our trees cut down....every single one! We are starting with a clean slate. The only 2 trees left standing are small Dogwoods and it looks like they have Blite or something so they probably will not make it. So many people were hit hard by the tornado on 19 July. Many homes were damaged heavily. Many people lost their homes completely. Still many others had extensive tree damage. But nobody lost their life to this storm. We are all blessed!!!

nc packs4 patriots

Information on changes, however please note that the mission is not changing....

Dear NC Packs4Patriots Supporters

NC Packs4Patriots (P4P) is preparing for some big changes again! Our center was recently flooded from rain water coming in through the ceiling. So, we had to remove all items and move them to storage. Volunteers have been working from home and in the storgae facility to continue our mission.

Now we are being evicted from our center and we are looking for a new location. In the meantime, we will be continuing our mission, as always. We have great volunteers who are working diligently from their homes and some wonderful donors who are still sending items for us to pack and send to our troops. We still need your help! Please check out our wish list on Amazon... (NCSupportOurTroops) and donations for shipping are always a great help!

P4P would like to sincerely thank our donors and volunteers for all of the support over the years and we look forward to working with you for years to come.

Looking Like A Biker Doesn't Make

My husband rode a motorcycle back in his 20’s (which was...more than a few years ago). Within the last five years, he has begun riding again. Eventually God gave me enough courage to climb up behind my husband and ride with him. Since those first days when I clung to my husband like a tick, I have learned to relax…a little. I have learned an amazing amount about being a passenger on a motorcycle, which God has used to teach me an amazing about riding with Him as well.

Having ridden with my husband for a few years now, I have been contemplating taking the test for a motorcycle learner’s permit. I’m not naive enough to think that I’ll be an expert biker. I simply wish to participate in breaking down some stereotypes that start with those loathsome words, “All bikers are…” or “All librarians are…”. In anticipation of my newest adventure, my husband purchased a small Suzuki. (I’m roughly the size of a healthy 10-year-old, so the Harley was out of the question.) Shortly after that, I ventured out into the yard one day for my first “lesson”.

I haven’t been out there since that first lesson.

It’s not that I can’t ride it…but I can’t ride it. What every experienced biker makes look so easy is truly quite complicated. The coordination, the memory, and the timing needed to keep a motorcycle upright and moving forward is a complex ballet that I have yet to learn. Add to that the innumerable differences in driving rules that you need to know in order to accomodate the smaller vehicle, and trust me, there should be a great deal more respect in our voices when we say “biker”.

I learned something important on the day of that first bike lesson. I can dress like a biker. I can talk like a biker. I can sit on the bike, put my hands on the controls, and my feet on the pedals. I can “look” like a biker. But looking like a biker doesn’t make me one.

There are people who grace the church pews every time the doors open. There are people who read their Bible religiously, pray regularly and give generously. There are people who know all the right words, sing all the right songs, dot every “i” and cross every “t” in “Christianity”…but looking like a Christian does not make you one.

Looking like a Christian and being one is just as different as dressing the part of a biker and actually riding a motorcycle.

One of the most important things I have learned about riding so far is that each trip we take holds the potential of being our last. Motorcycles are not very forgiving and offer little to no protection in accidents. Things can turn bad very quickly. If you’re not ready to meet your Maker, you shouldn’t ride. You just shouldn’t. You have no guarantee of your next breath. Each one is a gift from God. Do you know where you stand with Him?

If you don’t know where you stand with God, chances are good that you don’t have a relationship with Him. He wants that to change. The process itself is not hard. Do you realize that you’re not perfect? (Neither is any other human being on the planet, by the way.) Can you be honest enough to admit that you’ve made bad choices, done bad things? Can you admit that you regret them, that you’d truly like to change, but that the power to do so doesn’t reside within you? Do you realize there is no way you could ever be good enough, religious enough, or generous enough to earn a home in heaven?

Welcome to the human race. We are broken. We are messy. We need help.

And God sent it: His only Son. He sent Jesus, knowing that the only way He could save us was to allow His Son Jesus to die in our place, to pay the price for all our mistakes, all our bad choices. Jesus was the only One who could do it, because He didn’t make bad choices or mistakes. He was — and is — perfect. He took on Himself the consequences of our bad decisions, paid the price of death, and broke its power over us when He rose from the dead.

You are not reading this by accident or coincidence. This is God’s way of reaching out to you. YOU. He wants a relationship with you. Take a moment to examine your heart and determine what you believe about the only Person who could — and willingly and lovingly did — pay the price to make it possible for you to leave this earth knowing that your final destination was worth every struggle and trial that you have faced here. Is He your Savior? He wants to be. He died to prove it..

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son.”

John 3:16 - 18 NLT

83rd Sturgis Rally

Left:

Just came home from Sturgis...what an amazing time at the Rally, Deadwood, Rapid City. Rode the Iron Mountain, Needles, and the Wilderness Loop. We visited the Cosmos Mystery Area, Crazy Horse Monument and Mount Rushmore. Soooo much fun packed into 3 days! The rumble of the bikes on the streets and highways were like a lullaby to the ears...definitly going back. Fell in love with it all!!!

Nicole Milward and my friend is Magen Hamill. We are both from Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. We rode all the way there with 6 other people...2500 kilometers on the bikes round trip.

Left: The trip of a lifetime Sturgis owes us nothing!!!

First time here from South Carolina but absolutely not the last! Saw some of the prettiest sights I’ve ever seen, and met some of the nicest people! The biker community rocks!

Rode my bike that had actually belonged to my Mama (who passed two years ago). She never made it to Sturgis so I took her with me in her urn, the little red motorcycle… she even broke out of it to leave a little of herself there.

Hope everyone had a safe trip home.

JUST IN!! THE BUS IS BEING EMPTIED OUT AND THERE ARE OVER 1000 BACKPACKS FILLED SO FAR!!!

Today, words seem inadequate to encapsulate the magnitude of gratitude that courses through us. Our “Fill The Bus” event wasn’t merely only about raising funds or collecting school supplies. It was an embodiment of love, passion, and a collective drive to foster education and hope.

To the tireless crusaders at Backpack Buddies/Help4Kids, we are not only thankful, we are inspired. Your participation wasn’t just outstanding, it was transformative. Together, we raised a staggering $1,153.15. And as for the school bus? Well, it stands filled, not just with supplies, but with dreams, aspirations, and a promise of brighter futures for countless children.

To Bridget - the beacon that shines the brightest in our mission year after year. The depth of your dedication is unparalleled. Your belief in the cause and relentless spirit is the wind beneath our wings. With each passing year, you haven’t just seen this event through; you’ve lifted it to greater heights. Our heartfelt appreciation is but a small gesture in the face of your colossal commitment.

To every hand that pitched in, every soul that believed, and every heart that gave, we owe you a world of thanks. Because of you, many a young mind will now walk into school with the tools to carve out their own destiny.

It’s been a couple of days since the adventure up to Sawtooth Mountain and I still haven’t been able to process all that happened. I’ve been trying to articulate what I felt in my spirit when I arrived at Red Deer Lake with 12 year old Conor and saw Sawtooth up close and personal but I can’t put into words. As blown away as I was by seeing it for the first time, what I experienced as I stood on the shoreline of Red Deer Lake and gazed at the reflection of Sawtooth on its mirror-like surface at sunup Sunday far exceeded my initial flood of emotions the afternoon before. The weekend I spent in the mountains with part of my Colorado family was epic and I can think of nothing that exceeds the experience but it hasn’t been the only once in a lifetime event I’ve been beyond blessed to be able to experience.

The most and closest friends I’ve made in my 8 years of living alone and homeless on the road are here in northern Colorado but I have been blessed with friends/family in every state. I’ve been beyond honored and humbled to have been asked to officiate baptisms, funerals and weddings and I’ve counseled hundreds in the midst of trials and each encounter and every event has strengthened the bond between myself and people around the country.

For 8 long/short years I’ve crisscrossed the nation and met thousands of people from every walk of life in every state. I’ve met a lot of wealthy people and a lot of homeless people and people in between and without question they have all been more than kind, hospitable and generous to me. I’ve been given the security codes to gated communities and garages, the keys to everything from campers and mobile homes to mansions on lakes and told that I’m welcome for as long as I want or need to be there and that it doesn’t matter if anyone is home or not.

The Bullwinkle Chronicles

I never planned any of what has transpired since January of 2015 and the best writers in Hollywood couldn’t come up with a script for it. The only goal I had when I walked away from my former life was to see America’s lower 48 from the saddle of my Harley and nothing more. But it was pretty obvious that God had much bigger plans for my future and in fact He was orchestrating events and encounters that would lead me into a new and exciting chapter in my journey through life.

What I went through as I watched my world being torn apart nearly destroyed me but God knew what I needed to get through the darkest days of my life. He gave me peace in my soul even when I really didn’t feel His tangible presence, He put some of the best blues ever played in my heart and soul and He made sure I had the perfect scooter for what He was calling me to do. If not for my trust in the faithfulness of God, the Blues and Bullwinkle I would very likely still be sitting behind a desk wondering what if….

It is because of my trust in God, my love for lost and hurting people and Bullwinkle that I have been blessed to meet and become family with so many people. Many people I meet say they envy the life and freedom I have but I don’t think they realize the price I had and still have to pay or the sacrifices I’ve made to attain what they see as freedom, and I hope none of them ever find out.

It may sound strange but I have come to the place where I am thankful for everything I have endured, even the death of my soulmate, because it has all been used to impact the lives of multiple thousands of people in all 50 states and 70 countries around the world. It was not easy to see any good in my wife’s death and losing

26
Livin ' The Life

ullwinkle hronicles

everything I had but looking back with an eternal perspective I would not change anything because of the impact it has all had for advancing the Kingdom of God…..

Losing everything I knew and loved was the best thing to ever happen to me because I have been able to inspire so many others not to give up and lose hope. I am only able to embrace the crap that the devil threw at me because I am confident that when I finish my journey in this life I will see my wife again and we will have eternity together and we will see and meet all of the people we loved into the Kingdom of our God….

If you are going through what looks like insurmountable odds don’t give up, set your jaw like steel and push on looking through an eternal lens. Don’t entertain thoughts that leave you feeling lost and hopeless, seek the silver lining in your circumstance and refuse to let your mind entertain any and all thoughts that don’t leave you with hope. Always remember that the devil and his minions will always leave you with fears and doubts but God will always leave you with hope….

When I start to feel down or lonely I pull up the 40,000+ pictures of people I’ve met and thank God for them all. The pictures attached are just some of the places I’ve been and people I’ve met who have impacted my life and given me the encouragement needed to continue with my journey through this life….

Thee Redeemed House biker Church

”The Dangling Card”

The Heart of a Motorcycle is its Motor.

It is what our attention is drawn towards, but our attention only stays fixed on it a short period.

Our eyes automatically follow the flow of it to the exhaust pipes, from there maybe the tank, bars, and gauges.

In this process of taking its view all in, our thoughts are considering the paint, rims, tires, and seat with a deciding factor of, can I see myself riding it.

One other item our mind is drawn to is a card dangling from this Motorcycle hand grip that reveals the price.

I believe that maybe the heart of the Motorcycle, because if one cannot afford it, there will be no life for it with you. Payment and paying for it can restructure your heart in the heart of your life relating to your Job, relationship, and time ,especially time now to ride, ride to work or it setting at home while you work ‘til you can add time to ride in to what one is already doing in their days.

Your heart about your new possession now maybe to a personal customized look.

And the vision begins to make it your own.

Ever think about how God looks at you?

In His word to us, the Bible there are many numbered scriptures that tell us what our Creator looks at when He sees us, and scriptures that tells us how to customize our heart.

In 1 Samuel chapter 16 verse 7 it is recorded that God tells us He looks at our heart, and that man looks at the outer appearance.

We judge by what we see on the outside, God cannot judge on what we look like individually because He’d have to judge what He made.

But when God looks at our heart He’s looking into, yes what he created but also into how the free will that has been awarded to us has shaped the condition of one’s heart. He has provided all kinds of customizations to personalize it.

God’s hope is that we will choose the heart of Jesus to transform our heart .

When you look at Jesus the eyes of your heart are drawn to His.

That’s what you’ll be drawn to first, the flow of His Spirit wind, His tank that never runs out, His scared hand grip that will never let go. His gauges that monitor our working order. His rims and tires to be His hands and feet. Time to ride is not work but Joy always.

And if you happen to try and look at the card dangling from His wrist that has the price tag... Well, you’ll see these words “paid in full”. And the key for His Custom heart is hung right over there on that Cross.

From The Mind

Hello my happy people!

I’m getting some knees in the breeze now. I have had that throttle twisted back and just enjoying the morning rides to work. It has a radio and like a boy with a new toy, I’ve had it blasting down Highway 70 from Goldsboro to Clayton. Then I started backing off on the radio and just started digging the sound of those pipes. I love it when I’m just barely in 6th gear and the bike has this deep rubble especially as I travel through the small urban areas on my way to work. Yea it’s a jackass move but it’s time to wake up and go to work anyway!

Yes Sir, I have fallen in love with that bike. It rides like a caddy and the miles are just a nothing on my body like the sporty I had before. Yea, I’m hitting the age where that matters. I’ve been on this blue ball for 47 years and this body has took a beating in this life but I can’t lie, I’ve been blessed and God has had his hand wrapped around me for all the foolish shit I’ve done. I tested the limits of every bike I’ve owned. I’ve split between cars like a hot butter knife and often felt like the reaper was closing in on catching me. I’ve got one worn out guardian angel, that’s for sure. But hey man, we get one round on this marble why live it in a bubble? Twist that wick but don’t get too stupid.

Speaking of stupid. Let’s take a look around. The country just seems to be going straight to Hell in a gas truck. I look around and all I see is weak young men. I have my own thoughts how we got here but if I dumped it up here. I would cause a problem I’m sure and so many people are not wanting to see

what’s happening, but I can’t be all serious in this rag. My sense of humor allows me to put my thoughts on a different shelf. Especially when it comes to stuff like vaccines and the amount of vaccines a child receives in the first year. You should really look at that and then break out your shovel because there’s a lot of digging and a lot of eye opening information, but like I stated I can’t get too serious. The sheep must need something to follow or they will be lost. They only trust CNN and don’t understand that they’ve been lying to the public for years. It don’t matter if CNN said we need to eat our own shit. As crazy as that sounds, so many would have brown teeth by the end of the week. I look around and all I see is the lack of respect for not only the country but lack of respect for people just in general. Nobody cares and they are all out for themselves. Which is fine, this is a free country....they say.

My mind ponders when I hear people say, “Well back in the good old days”, or “if the good old days are gone”? Let me answer that question for ya bud...Yes! It’s gone! It’s not coming back, especially if your are depending on the generation of these people we have around here today. Our country came from harden hands and hard working backs. It came from sacrificeb and blood. But these people are worried about being a cat in middle school or confused about which bathroom they are supposed to use. This is our future? If so we are f****** doomed!

I watch these young men in the workforce and I am ready to vomit. They are on their phones constantly and act like they deserve the same pay as someone who’s been with the company for 20 years. It’s a give me, give me, give me generation. Now, I know why the Boomers looked at us all weird when we were growing up. Just think about it for a second. The boomers where given the golden ticket from the previous generation. Because they had to deal with the Great depression and eat things that would make a goat puke just to survive. You can barely get a kid today to eat anything other than a McDonalds chicken nugget!

The Boomers had it made son, I don’t care what your argument is. They grew up with a booming economy. A man could raise a family off one income and that’s a nice house and a car and maybe pay for their kids college. Sure they had the Vietnam War and some crazy shit they had to deal with, but that is nothing compared to today. We got kids thinking they are cats. They are cutting off their family jewels because they are brainwashed in school that if they see the color pink and they like it, they need to change their gender. In 1976 the word pronoun was only used in english class and nobody in their right mind would have been confused about what was going on in their pants. Now, tell me vaccines haven’t caused some damage. It’s easy research. Just start looking at the mental decline and the years it started happening and then compare it to the amount of vaccines they pump into children. Then once you add that all together and figure it out then remember that population reducing is a goal of the people who run the world. Welcome to my mind ladies and gentleman.

Yelp, this in one of the many reasons I ride. To take a break from the reality I see but I do have hope. I’ve not lost all hope. God has a plan and I think the generation thats forming now is going to pull this country out of the dump its going in. Parents are home schooling more. Snatching their kids out from the schools that are teaching this evil that’s taking over our society. These kids are not going to be fed this brainwashing. They are going to see common sense and learn respect. It’s happening right now and It gives me hope.

So, while you are out on that ride pray for our country. Pray for our future. Pray for these kids. and one more thing....look twice and save a life!

Blue Knights NC Chapter 2

WAKE COUNTY, NC

On August 1st 2023 The Blue Knights lost a Brother. Robert Cain Overby passed away leaving many friends and family behind. Mostly known as Bud, by friends, he was the Blue Knights North Carolina State Representative, the International Safety Officer as well as President of Blue Knights chapter 8 in Greenville, NC.

Bud was a truly amazing person serving 31 years in the military. He was an MP and recruiter retiring at the rank of First Sergeant. Bud was more than just a guy with some fancy titles, Bud was a kind, generous, funny person that everyone enjoyed being around. I personally got the opportunity to meet Bud at the Blue Knights NC 2 Christmas party and I’m so glad that I was able to experience what a person he was. Bud was truly the life of the party, had a smile on his face cracking jokes the whole night. Bud was never afraid to talk to anyone and would always find a way to put a smile on their face. Bud has touched a lot of people’s hearts and will truly be missed. On August 7th, 2023

The Blue Knights NC chapter 2 along with other chapters from North Carolina came together in memory of Bud. They met up and rode to Bud’s memorial service and to be there for the family. Blue Knights are more than just a Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club. The Blue Knights are a big family. They look out for each other and step up when someone needs a hand. Bud had the true Blue Knight spirit and will be leaving a very large hole in the Blue Knight community.

Great Feeling Fear Is Good

Father’s Day morning I had me a nice little ride. My daughter approached me and said, I’m about due for another ride! Say no more, I will have the back seat on in about a minute. I couldn’t think of a better Father’s Day gift than a nice long ride with my baby girl, and to top it off, my son got me a new Harley shirt.

Then & Now

First picture is of me and my daughter, the second picture is of my daughter’s daughter.

Peace and Love

I’m super proud of myself for not letting my fear get the best of me. I rode HWY 129’s Tail of the Dragon a few days ago. I almost talked myself out of it but my hubby encouraged me and said “you can do this”. I’m glad I listened because I would have been pissed off at myself if I had not. It was something I wanted to accomplish on my 50th birthday. I’m happy to say I checked that off my bucket list. I just wanted to share as to say: Fear is good. It keeps us in check - but don’t let it rule you. Trying things helps foster growth and experience.

The Life Amazing Twisty Roads

Fishin’ & Bikin’

#askboone went fishing Boone style today with my daughter, Zoey! We rode my KTM down a trail to the lake and casted a couple of times! Okay okay, it was a couple of hundred times! Zoey caught a fish!!

#ASKBOONE and Zoey

Been on the road with my fiancé since Aug. 2nd, with six more days to go. We left Winnipeg, went to Milwaukee for the Harley museum, then to Tail of the Dragon, where we spent two days exploring and riding some amazing twisty roads! We just made it back to Canada in Sault St. Marie, and will take a few days to travel across to Saskatoon, then home to Winnipeg. A fantastic ride so far!

Debbie Linke has had trouble with her heart since the early 2000’s. In late March 2023 her condition declined quickly. After a few weeks at CMH then sent to VCU, where they prepped for heart transplant due to the severity of her condition. On April 19th a balloon pump was installed to help her heart pump. She then had to lay completely flat and unable to move, sit up, or get out of bed. She received a heart transplant on April 30th. Since then, she has been in rehab is now home with home health and therapy coming out to help her get used to her new normal lifestyle!

On March 23rd, Lucas suffered a traumatic brain injury resulting from a baseball accident at school. While practicing, he was hit in the left temple by a hard-hit ball that took a bad hop. Since then, treatment has included 2 ER visits, 2 CT scans, 1 MRI, and a team of specialists. His symptoms include memory loss, constant headaches, vision and hearing issues, along with cognitive deficiencies. He enjoys the outdoors and fortunately has not lost his sense of humor!!

STICKERS

For 19 years we have included stickers in each issue of the magazine. I personally put each and every sticker in each and every copy myself (Doobie)!!! Here lately folks have gotten bad about pulling stickers out of many copies... I guess because they like the stickers so much. It has happened in the past but not like it has the last few issues. It is unfair to others who pick up a copy of the magazine only to find that their copy does not have a sticker. So, starting with the Jan-Feb 2023 issue of Behind Barz we are not going to place stickers in each copy. We will have stickers available for FREE but you have to send a self addressed, stamped envelope to our PO Box listed on previous page. We will then send you the sticker that goes with this issue (if you write “BB FREEDOM” on the envelope) plus we will throw in 3 more stickers, of our choice. We hate this has to be done but with the time it takes to place each sticker in every copy and then people are pulling the stickers out we feel that this is the best way to do it right now. Thanks for your continued support! We still have lots of killer prizes from our sponsors on the previous page to give away. So remember, you can’t win it if you don’t stick it!
