nc packs4 patriots Support Our Troops

NCPACKS4PATRIOTS is a nonprofit organization formed with the mission to support troops and their family members by providing care and comfort items and expressions of appreciation for their service and sacrifices. Packing care packages for our deployed troops is a way to show your support and appreciation for the service and sacrifices by our military members. We also provide support for troops at home, their families and veterans. We have had a very busy year. Our team of volunteers had to work from home because of not having a building to meet in and work from. Then we had to move everything from storage into our new building, all the while continuing our effort! We met these challenges while supporting troops through deployments and homeland activations. We continued with support from caring volunteers and donors who want our troops to know that America cares about and appreciates their service.

Photo right: The award for most creative packaging goes to Bayer Cropscience who sent care package in this barrel!

Photo left: Every day is a good day to support our troops! We love seeing these smiles! Y’all keep those donations coming in and we’ll keep care packages going to them!!

Photo above and below: We had a productive day serving troops and veterans. Our Energizer Squad helped assemble over 270 hygiene kits and bagged socks. Thank you to all our donors who make our mission possible, especially Jefferies Socks, Archway Cookies, Bigelow Tea, Honey Stinger, Community Coffee and all the donors across America!going to love this!

Ideas: Order items from Amazon, Photos below: assemble goody bags with 6-8 items The General Davie Chapter, NSDAR and the Cherry Point Baptist Church brought lots of in a sandwich or party bag, add signed fun and energy today, processing donations and packing care packages! cards. Make as many as your family, church or bike group can help with! Make financial contributions for postage. Groups are welcome to setup GoFund me pages for postage. Our financial donations have dropped significantly and monetary donations for postage is our greatest need. Please don’t forget our military members who are serving away from home and family this year. We need you to join our team to support our local heroes in 2023! Happy New Year! Thank you! LOST RIDERS TOY DRIVE / P 4 NOV 23 CONWAY, NC The Lost Riders - Misfits Motorcycle Club is a staunch supporter of their community in Conway. On November 4th, they sponsored a Toy Donation / Poker Run for Toys for Tots. According to the Toys for Tots website www.toysfortots.org, the organization sends messages of hope to America’s disadvantaged children with the gift of a new toy or book. To date, Toys for Tots has distributed 652 million toys to 291 million children. The ride began at the Lost Riders clubhouse in Conway. Bikers came not only from Conway, but also from Rich Square, Roxobel, Murfreesboro, Little Washington, and Roanoke Rapids. In addition to individual riders and the Lost Riders MC, there were bikers from Knights of the Inferno MC and from Apocalyptic Souls MC. More than 40 toys were donated, including a special dropoff made by Relay for Life of Northampton County, NC. Before the ride began, Northampton County Relay for Life representative Laquitta Green Cooper prayed for the safety of the riders and the success of the event.

Cards were drawn at the stops made in Ahoskie, Windsor, and Rich Square. The final card was drawn back at the Lost Riders clubhouse in Conway. When we arrived back at the clubhouse, a delicious lunch had been prepared for all by Marie Liverman, Shirley Garris, Rosanna Lyons, Erin Barnes, Sammantha Davis, Melissa Borum-Taylor, Karen Reehl, and Susan Davis. After lunch, there was a 50/50 drawing won by Karen Reehl. Winner of the best poker hand was Ty Liverman. Winner of the worst poker hand was Allen Barnes. After the drawings food and fellowship were enjoyed by all. Despite the chilly start, the day ended in beautiful weather. It was a great ride for a great cause. Lost Riders thanks all those who worked to organize the event and all those who braved the cold weather to come out and make it a success.

It was a chilly start with the temps hovering around 40 degrees, but those who came were committed to riding for a good cause. The Northampton County Sheriff’s Department provided an escort for the entire ride. Additional assistance blocking intersections was offered by the Town of Conway Police Department, the Hertford County Sheriff’s Department, and the Bertie County Sheriff’s Department. 14 Annual Steelhorse Strangers MC Person County Toy Run Story & Photos: Rocky Watson

TIMBERLAKE, NC

Hey... Guess what happened on Sunday, November 12, 2023. ALOT of bikers and people from near and far, came together to make a BIG difference in children’s lives this upcoming Christmas! The 14th Annual Steelhorse Strangers MC Person County Toy Run left The Homestead Steakhouse in Timbelake, NC. Over 400 motorcycles rumbled down the streets of Roxboro, NC and Person County. This annual event that raises money for Santa’s Helpers of Person County, helps provide toys to under privilaged children on Christmas morning. The event was started by the SSMC President, Jarrett Shotwell aka “Joker”. On December 10, 2007, Joker’s wife Erin lost her 6 year old son. His name was Daniel Lee Neal Jr. From that point on, Christmas really wasn’t the same. Joker wanted to do something to honor Daniel as well as other unfortunate children. So with the help of his brother, father and his best friend the SSMC was formed and the first Person County Toy Run took place. Over the years, this event has completely exploded and reached new heights that were never imagined! Riders show up every year from distances further and further away. Asheville, NC, South Carolina, and Virginia are just some of the places they travel from in huge groups. Pulling up with toys strapped to their bikes. This year’s event was no different. More people, more bikes, more sponsors and a bigger check to Santa’s Helpers of Person County!!!! Over $60,000!!! Try that in a small town! How does this happen, you say? None of this would be possible without the help of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our bible says “Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” We have Bronze, Silver and Gold level sponsors.

20

These sponsors donate a certain dollar amount and their names appear on the banners across town and each T-shirt. Without our sponsors, this event wouldn’t happen. Widow Maker CDR was our Champion Sponsor this year. We even had a group that rode all the way from Conway, SC called The Rivertown Riders RC!!! Thanks guys, for riding so far and participating. You are appreciated! Let me give everyone an idea of how much the Toy Run has grown. Ten years ago, the check to Santa’s Helpers of Person County was a little over $1,600. From that to over $60,000 in ten years???

How’s that for growth! A number of bikers, clubs and organizations participate every year. They donate their time, money and toys to help with this huge event that miraculously keeps growing. Cars, children and adults of all ages line the streets on both sides as we thunder down the roads of Person County. They shout, wave their arms and hold their little ones in the air. All of them wanting the same things. For you to rev your engine loud and wave at them. It’s really something that can’t be explained unless you participate and see for yourself. Overwhelming and emotional to say the least. Us bikers sometimes get stereotyped. One of Joker’s favorite patches says “Big hearts come dressed in leather.” Someone asked me what makes the Toy Run such a great event. What makes it keep getting bigger every year? Let me be honest for a minute. This is no secret. When you get this many people together. With so many bike clubs, so many groups of people. Are there differences? Of course there are. But let me tell you what happens. We ALL put everything to the side and come together for ONE cause. We are ALL going the same direction. We are ALL on the same page. It’s a time we all get a little nicer, smile a little easier and give a little more generously. There’s people having trouble making their children’s miracle happen... Making THEIR miracle happen! You just say “Here, take this. This is for you and yours.” Then it happens... You see the look on their face. I’ve seen that look! Then it happens to YOU. You get that feeling in YOUR heart and you want that feeling more and more... Then you realize it doesn’t matter that it’s not even Christmas anymore. You want that feeling every day. Everyone gets closer. THAT’s why this event gets bigger and bigger. Because our hearts get bigger and bigger!

5th Annual Bikers For Backpacks Stew & Ride ROXBORO, NC

Saturday, November 18, 2023 couldn’t have turned out any better for a nice Person County motorcycle ride. Eighty plus bikes and even more people showed up in Roxboro, NC to support this year’s 5th Annual “Bikers For Backpacks Stew & Ride”. The Twisted Rock Crew of the Iron Order MC has hosted this event for the past five years. A day of fun, fellowship, raffle prizes and some of the best Brunswick Stew you’ve ever put in your mouth! You also get to meet new people who share the same love for riding motorcycles and that’s always alot of fun! As a sponsor of this year’s event, I was invited to breakfast by Charter President, Brad Walker, aka “Fizzle” and, John Combs, aka “Sparkplug”, the Charter’s VicePresident. I got to sit down with the Twisted Rock Crew and see what makes this event so special to them. “Roughly 30% of the children in Person County Schools don’t know what they’re going to eat from the time they leave school Friday until they get back on Monday morning” says Sparkplug. Backpack Pals of Person County is an organization that provides weekend meals to at risk students in our local schools. They put necessary food items in their bags at school on Friday for the weekend. A weekend where there’s a good chance they wouldn’t have eaten... “My kids get to go to the pantry at home, whenever they’re hungry. It saddens me to think a child can’t eat when they’re hungry” says Fizzle.

Story & Photos: Rocky Watson

It makes everything we do, worth it. “It takes a village” as they say. Months of planning, public donations and sponsors are what makes this event possible. Bikers fom the Steelhorse Strangers MC, Savage South MC, American Legion Riders Post #7, Dragon Riders and other Iron Order MC chapters were some of the many groups that were represented. What a great effort for a great cause. Seeing all these people and organizations come together to feed hungry kids, right here in our own back yard. And speaking of.... Thanks to Tony Mattos, Owner of The Bullpen Backyard. Such a giving individual to provide us a super nice venue to host the ride! At the end of the day, 80+ bikes rolled out for the cause and over $7,000.00 was raised for Backpack Pals of Person County. Thanks to EVERYONE involved and we can’t wait until next year!!!

He went on to tell me about a night at the ball field. He went to see his kid play and was on his bike, wearing his cut. A lady in the stands started talking to him, asking about the bike club and what they were about. He told her about the charity ride for Backpack Pals. The lady’s eyes began to well with tears and she told Fizzle her kids recieve food every Friday from this group!! “That was it for me”, says Fizzle.

Myrtle Beach Harley-Davidson A big congratulations to Mr. Brian Conway for winning our new bike sales giveaway during our Black Friday Weekend Blitz last month! On top of riding away on a brand new Harley-Davidson motorcycle, he’s now $2,000 richer just in time for the holidays! Don’t spend it all in one place!

Once again, congratulations, Jerry, “Mr. 1,300”!! Well done on such an incredible number and accomplishment. Thanks for everything!

The 2023 Hurricane Alley Fall Rally has come and gone, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of some amazing groups and organizations, like our local CVMA 34-3 chapter! We partnered with them for our Scenic Fall Rally Ride, and because of them, parking went smoothly and the ride got to its destination safely! During the event, thanks to our loyal riders and customers, $2,496 was raised for this incredible group of Combat Veterans! It always amazes us how the people in this community never fail to show up for one another, and our heartfelt gratitude goes out to you all!

Fall Bike Night What a fun packed Bike night at The Beaver Bar in Murrells Inlet tonight! Gotta love this beautiful community of riders!!

Our final 2023 Hurricane Alley Fall Rally shoutout is for Caring In Our Lifetime! The members of this local organization dedicate their time to the fight against breast cancer! They were kind enough to partner with us for a fundraiser during our Fall Rally Bike Night, and between the 50/50 raffle and generous donations, $359 was raised for them! We appreciate these wonderful ladies for joining us, and we appreciate all of you for, once again, being willing to give back to this amazing community we call home!

The Bul Chro

By: Bob Seymour Sometimes I really wonder about my life and my ability to communicate with others and why I am doing what I am. I know in my “gut” I have to continue the journey, at least for now, and if I don’t I won’t be able to live with myself. I don’t know how to explain any better why I journal my every thought and express the rawest of emotions I experience on an almost daily basis and I’d quit doing it if I could and still have peace deep within my being even though chaos seems to hover near the surface of my mind.

I see the tears and hear the shaking voices of those who have wept and thanked me for listening to them and praying with and for them and giving them hope. I see the joy and restoration of hope in the faces and eyes of so many and I can no longer ask or justify my wanting to return to my former comfort zone.

My life was so much easier when I was a stoic man who just dealt with life as it came, but for whatever reason that isn’t possible for me to do anymore. It bothers me to see that what I express often offends many people who have experienced similar tragedies in their lives and have had to deal with them differently than I am currently doing. I sincerely wish I knew why things have happened the way they have and that I was a better communicator but I don’t have the answers or the ability to say what I do in a more articulate manner.

I never would have chosen this road and the whole journey is absolutely surreal. Navigating through the surreal is like riding in the fog, you can’t just stop because you’re liable to be hit from behind by a truck and you can’t speed up because you can barely see the lines in the road or any vehicles in front of you. All you can do is continue moving at a speed that you’re comfortable with and hope you reach your destination without missing your exit.

I know that many people who have been following this journey have been impacted by it, some in a life changing way, and I am humbled by their support and prayers. I have asked and at times begged God to release me from going on with this calling but each time I do I see the same thing in my mind. I see the faces of all those who have messaged or texted me and of those I have met and shared my story with.

Looking back at the last 8+ years of life on the road I am beyond grateful for all of the pain and sacrifices I made on this journey because of all of the people I have met. I can’t share the thousands of pictures I have of them but these photos are just some of the people that changed my life….

26

The further along the road I go it seems in many ways the more difficult it becomes to continue but at the same time the determination to continue grows stronger.

the good news! Rodger Duvall ~ Jesus Freak Thee Redeemed House biker Church

”Living Life Behind Barz” “Living life behind barz”, is a view of and in life from our viewpoint of reality. Our Behind the barz view of what we see determines our reality, from our viewpoint, we see and know there are other realities, absolute truths. Those absolute truths are other vehicles, homes, buildings, trees, landscape, roads, people, weather, sky, clouds, rain, cold, and hot temperatures. Those are some basic absolute truths that can not be denied. There are other absolute truths that can not be physically seen when riding behind barz, thoughts about the deceptive lies from agendas of deceived people who don’t want to believe truth. Yes, there are deceived people who believe the lie, (just using this as an example ) there shouldn’t be any more motorcycles. They are too loud, can’t see them, people that ride them are too free, people get hurt bad when they wreck, etc, etc.

So, they will say let’s get rid of them completely and erase them from history and any evidence of them ever existing. That’s what the deceived people deceived by the lie “there is no God” and want to do away with God, and erase from culture any evidence of a moral God. Now anything goes, if a person believes in their personal reality of what they want to believe then everyone is to accept it. That is insane, they’ve lost touch with reality truth, and if a sane person questions them they will turn the table and try to convince you that you are insane. When Jesus was brought before Pilate, recorded in the Gospel of John chapter 18, Jesus’ view behind barz was a worldview viewpoint of a world decided by lies. As Pilate questioned Jesus to defend Himself, Pilate ask Him ,” Are you the king... Jesus replied, “ My Kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest...( to be done away with) My Kingdom is from another place” Then pilate said, “You are a king“! Then Jesus made this statement, “you are right in saying I am a King. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the Truth. Everyone on the side of Truth listens to Me.” Those who listen to the lies of this world are being deceived into satan’s plan to rid this world of Jesus’ moral truth in His Word. (antichrist) In the year of Our Lord 2024 I hope you stand on the side of Truth with Jesus and see the Truth of His Word for a Kingdom world view behind barz riding in the Spirit of Truth and you won’t be deceived. Armor up, starting with the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of Faith, the helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of The Spirit (Ephesians 6:14-17)and ride against the devil’s schemes. “Jesus Freak” Rodger.

Hannahs Place Charity Ride story & photos: Leslie Harder

WELDON, NC OCTOBER 21, 2023 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence is one of those subjects that we often speak of in the abstract. Unfortunately, it is all too real for many people. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, there are more than 20,000 calls placed to domestic violence hotlines — in one day. Here in the US, twenty people are physically abused by their partner — per minute. According to nccadv.org, nearly 1 in 3 women (35.2%) and men (30.3%) — in North Carolina alone — experience domestic violence and stalking in their lifetime. Are you surprised? Perhaps not, but we should certainly be dismayed by such statistics. For at least one in three of us, these numbers are not just statistics. They are a real battle, a daily struggle to survive, escape the abuse, and cope with its aftermath. One of the ways many escape is through the aid of shelters like Hannah’s Place Inc. Hannah’s Place is a Roanoke Valley nonprofit organization that provides hope and help to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. They provide needed services and shelter for the abused, and they promote prevention within the community. Hannah’s Place held their First Annual Domestic Violence Charity Ride and Car/Bike Show on October 21. This event was hosted by the East Coast Dragons Motorcycle Club led by president Shawn Robinson and the Changin’ Lanez Car Club. The Lord provided perfect weather for a ride that day. It was in the low 60’s with sunshine and a beautiful breeze. The event was held at River Falls Park in Weldon, North Carolina. From the park in Weldon, we rode through Halifax, Roanoke Rapids, and Littleton. We rode across Lake Gaston on the Eaton Ferry Bridge, then through Gaston and Garysburg. The ride took us full circle back across the Roanoke River to our starting point at River Falls Park in Weldon.

Back at the park, awards were presented. East Coast Dragons Motorcycle Club won the award for the most represented club. Puerto Rico won the award for the best in show car. Dr. Dobbs won the award for the best in show bike. Stray Cats Hot Rod Association also attended and many of their classic cars were on display. Lunch was served. Special speakers Angela Taylor of Operation Speak Out Against Domestic Violence and life coach Keith West spoke about the far-reaching effects of domestic violence and the ugly truth that it is not limited to violence against women. Part of the purpose of this event was to raise awareness of the signs of domestic violence and to encourage those who experience it to seek help. If you have experienced violence at the hands of one you love, there is hope and help available. If you have experienced family strife that became physical, please check out this website and take the test there to help you understand your situation: https://hannahsplacenc.org/getting-help-domestic-violence.html. No one is entitled to lay their hands on you in violence. It may seem hopeless, but it is not. You may feel helpless, but you are not. Reach out and seek that help before it is too late. You can call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233, or chat with them through their website https://www.thehotline.org/, or text START to 88788. Hannah’s Place can be reached at (252)541-2064.

From The Mi Hello

Hello my happy people! Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year! Some how we made it! You will notice it’s a new voting year. Gas is going to drop. More propaganda will be hitting the social media. More and more separation and divide tearing away at the very fabric of our country. We will see more and more crap being spit out of these politicians mouths like an overflowing toilet, with the hand broken off and the value stuck on open. I think they are starting to realize we are no longer buying into the race wars. I think people are finally seeing that it is a power and greed war. It always has been. Time for my fellow brothers and sisters to stand fast. The America we love is crumbling to the ground. As my grandfather used to tell me, America is the best country in the world and when it falls it will be because it rotted from the inside out. We turned our backs on God. We turned our backs on the men and women who gave it all and are buried under those white crosses in Arlington. Kids are using legal drugs at a rampant rate and are more interested in getting high than working on their futures. With that being said, what is their future? What is ours? These kids are wanting to play pretend at 17 years old, acting like cats in school and not knowing which bathrooms to go to. We are poisoning our children with vaccines and being told by our government officials that there’s no link to autism with vaccinations. Which is a lie! Just look at the data. The more years go by with more and more injections and autism climbs up right beside it. We are losing ladies and gentlemen. Our children are going to school and are being brainwashed. We are trading our family time for the convenience of cellular phones. When the old folks die off the glue that held families together crumbles apart. We no longer go to visit our aunts and uncles and cousins because we see them on Fa*eb*ok. But Fac*bo*k is a cheap alternative to real time spent together.

My Happy People!

Bonding and sitting at the table to share a meal and talk. They are doing this to break families apart, and it’s working. The more time goes by the more the wedge is hammered in deeper. If you don’t know who your families are you are more prone to turn your backs on them. Which makes it easier to walk away from core family values. Yes, I know this is a motorcycle magazine. I do believe the Title to my section is, ( From the mind of Big Ed ). So work with me here...why do we ride? For some of us it’s to break away from the struggles of everyday life. Some of us ride to feel the air of freedom. What did I just say??? To feel the air of FREEDOM! How in the Hell can you feel the air of freedom if freedom is being snatched out of our hands? I ride and feel blessed when I pass by a yard with an American flag in all its glory, waving in the wind. But right now that flag needs our help! This country needs our help, and I know what bikers, thousands of bikers, have done for the blessing of freedom!!! Thousands upon thousands showed up at our White house on different occasions to voice their concerns of freedom! We do this because bikers and freedom go hand in hand! It’s what’s separates us from the mindless tw*ts that don’t even know how to respect the values of the people who died so they can enjoy the gift of freedom! A gift which was given in blood! So we wouldn’t turn out like those other communists countries. Seems we are well on our way. Too many worried about their sexual preferences and wanting to be accepted for their self proclaimed gender. When God had all that figured out before they were even born. Mental confusion is what it is. Sad when an animal is born and has more sense than some of these people. Even a house cat knows where to use the bathroom. I know I know I’m going on and on but it’s frustrating me to see where we are and what we’ve lost in just the short time I’ve been wondering around this blue ball. It should be a wake up call to so many but so many are lost. Why are kids killing kids when it wasn’t just 20 years ago we would be at school with a high powered rifle hanging in our truck’s rear glass. So, you are telling me this generation is doing it right? I don’t think so. When I was a kid more folks had faith in God. More people had self respect. I can prove it, too.

Do you know how? In 1993 we had cameras...yes sir, we also had camcorders, but do you see any pictures or videos of your mom spreading her butt cheeks and acting a fool? Do you see any videos of your Mom acting like she’s giving a BJ in a video? Hell no, you don’t. People had morals and self respect back then. There was no way they were ever going to be caught by their Daddy’s with some pictures or videos of them showing themselves like that. No way you would be a bad reflection on your family. Hell! nobody cares about family no more! This is why I’m so frustrated with where this country is going. You can’t sell me this shit! No faith in God, no family values, no self respect!!! But I’m the bad guy for believing in these values. I feel like sometimes I was born in the wrong year, because I’m not meant for this crap we have here today. So, yes! Thank God for motorcycles! It’s therapy. Much needed therapy, an escape from this wicked and mentally confused world we are living in as we ride on some country back road. Besides twisting that throttle back to how fast I can catch the reaper. How about cruise and enjoy. Look around and catch the red white and blue flapping in the breeze and think what does it mean to you. How about we feel blessed that we woke up to another day and we are capable of enjoying such gifts. Ride that sled to the mountains and get connected with God. Pull up to some random water fall and enjoy the simple creations God has given us. How about pass out that wave to your oncoming biker on the road. Show some kind of love. Just because the world has forgotten how, doesn’t mean us bikers have to follow that trend. Keep it real, and hold on to those old school values brothers and sisters. The road ahead is definitely uncertain but we bikers know how to adapt and overcome. Be safe out there and I will be seeing you with my face in the wind and my life Behind Barz...

Blue Knights NC Chapter 2 RA:LEIGH, NC Meet the Blue Knights, December 2nd was the Blue knights wake county chapter 2 Christmas party. During the party I asked 2 members 4 questions each and I made them write their true honest responses down. The first member I interviewed was Brain DeMott, he has been a member of the Blue Knights for 17 years! His favorite part of being a Blue Knight is the brotherhood with some of America’s best people. Brian joined the Blue Knights to ride with people he could feel safe with and also be part of an International club. Last thing I asked was if he had anything else to mention and he said brotherhood interactions have been worldwide for him such as Italy, Dubai, all over America and it’s always very positive. Next member I interviewed was Greg Toback who is one of the Directors in Blue Knights Wake County Chapter 2. He was asked the same set of question, Greg has been a member of the Blue Knights for 4 years. His favorite part of being a Blue Knight is being around other people with the same interests (motorcycling) who have shared similar life experiences that he has. He says it’s not easy being in law enforcement, “A lot of us have seen things that we can never unsee and it’s very refreshing to know you’re not alone.” Greg joined the Blue Knights to find like minded law enforcement people to ride with and help out our local communities. Lastly any other things he wanted to mention was he loves being a Blue Story and Photos: Knight and see the smiles it brings to kids and Samantha Raybon adults when they see us riding together enjoying some “wind therapy” or participating in a charity ride or officer down rides. Greg has been a Director with chapter 2 for almost 4 years now and likes that the chapter trusts him to help lead us now and into the future. He also puts together many of the group rides for his chapter and other local chapters. I plan to interview more members so more people can learn more about who the Blue knights are as people and not just a group. On October 14th The Blue Knights participated in the Le Tour de Femme. Le Tour de Femme it is a woman’s only road and MTB cycling charity ride with a variety of distance options. The ride benefits local charities like the Kay Yow cancer fund and UNC health care cancer fund. The mission of the all woman’s ride is to provide funding and increase awareness for cancer survivorship programs while supporting and empowering woman to explore the sport and community of cycling. The Blue Knights mission is to keep the women safe on these routes. October 14th was a very wet day for everyone that participated, it rained the whole day. Because people come from all over the world to be a part of this cycling charity canceling and postponing was not an option unless they deemed it was unsafe for the ladies to

continue but luckily everyone was able to complete their route and everyone participating was more than happy to do so. The Blue Knights participate in this charity every year and they ride along side these strong amazing ladies to make sure everyone makes it to thier goal destination safely.

Because of Great Bikers NASH, WILSON & FRANKLIN COUNTIES Story & Photos: Scott Finch On the first Saturday of December each year, the Enforcers Motorcycle Club Buckhorn Chapter along with other chapters in North Carolina and several other states. have the honor to be a small part of a great cause. The Fallen Heros Wreath Program’s purpose is to honor the sacrifice made by Law Enforcement Officers who were killed in the line of duty. The program produces and places wreaths at the final resting places of Fallen Officers during the winter holiday season. While the Enforcers Motorcycle Club is a LEMC; it is not only limited to Law Enforcement yet our involvement in this program is a very personal and humbling experience for all involved. Reading the biographies of each one and reflecting on them making the ultimate selfless sacrifice cutting their lives short is both a privilege and heart wrenching. For many of us these were our friends, co-workers and role models for the community and profession. The families aren’t notified of the wreath placement so that this memorial is solely about the officer and their memory. For more information about the Fallen Officers Wreath Program visit https: //www.fallenheroeswreathprogram.org.

Blue Ridge Parkway

Beautiful day of riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway. A little chilly and windy but couldn’t beat it! Got a parking space at Graveyard Fields and hiked down to the lower falls. Traffic wasn’t bad at all, even though several overlooks were full. Linn Cove Viaduct wasn’t crowded, managed to travel hrough without stopping. Got in a total of 375 miles most of that being on the Parkway. Rode from west of Waynesville to Boone. Don Johnson...Stanley, NC.

0th Toy Run

SPRING HOPE, NC 2 December 2023 I would like to thank everyone that helped make Batchelor’s 30th Annual Toy Run a success. Donations received passed last years amount! It is with sad heart that the Batchelor’s announced this year would be the last Batchelor’s Toy Run. We appreciate everything Steve/Carolina has done over the years. When Charlie and Snooks started this run 30 years ago, Snooks asked Steve if we could use his bar to have our toy run. Steve agreed, so out of appreciation Snooks asked to use the bar name for our toy run, which is where the name started.

Photos: Bikerwolf, Jenn Morton Depo and Doobie

So going forward Charlie/Bonita, Josh/Briana will continue our toy run but with a new name. Same toy run, different name. It will continue to be held the 1st Saturday in December at Webbs Mill with Pete & Cathy and a few new faces. It will be called the Tar River Toy Run at Webbs Mill. To all who helped put our run on: sponsors, food donators, Toy Run staff, raffle prize donors and all who attended... THANK YOU wholeheartedly!!! For the ones that retired this year... thank you for all your hard work over the years. It was greatly appreciated! Charlie, Bonita, Josh & Briana Photos: Bikerwolf, Jenn Morton Depo and Doobie

OLD MULE

BBQ ~ Marinade ~ Dipping Sauce

Old Mule

began as homemade Christmas gifts for family and friends during the 1980’s. Over the years we (Cheryl & Steve) refined our recipe and were eventually prodded by family and friends into starting a business. That was 1990. It only took us another 6 years to actually get our business off the ground (two new careers and 3 children later). Our children have grown up in the business (though, sometimes less enthusiastically than other times) and have been able to learn everything from cooking and maintenance to book-keeping, marketing and tax law. And always, working with people! Our family and community have always been priorities as our business continues to grow. The name “Old Mule” came out of an appreciation for the working mules of the past. Our parents and grandparents told stories of the mules with which they farmed for many years. We were looking for a good name that tied to our farming background and the farm mules that were once so common (Cheryl’s father wanted to name her after his favorite childhood mule, but her mother forbid it….but that’s another story…In keeping with that era, we package Old Mule Sauce in a style reminiscent of the old time general store. Today, we continue to cook Old Mule ourselves on our family farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. It seems few companies actually MAKE what they sell or put their label on. Since our beginning, this “made by our family” principle has been important to us (though not always easy). Because of this, we take great pride in our products! We do not try to be “all things to all people” or set a “new North American record for sales growth”. Our goal is simply to provide our customers with a unique, high-quality sauce that will add something special to their gatherings and meals with friends and family..

44

You can find Old Mule products at Food Lion stores and many other businesses. See their website where you can purchase one jar, a pack of jars, gift boxes and even jugs!!! Old Mule is all-natural… is gluten-free and contains no high-fructose corn syrup, soy, MSG, or artificial preservatives! www.OldMule.com We love Old Mule on everything we have tried! We even use it as a dipping sauce for nuggets and fries. We will be featuring recipes here with Old Mule products in Behind Barz Mag. Given them a try. You’ll fall in love, too! Would make great Christmas gifts and they are a biker friendly business!

STICKERS For 19 years we have included stickers in each issue of the magazine. I personally put each

and every sticker in each and every copy myself (Doobie)!!! Here lately folks have gotten bad about pulling stickers out of many copies... I guess because they like the stickers so much. It has happened in the past but not like it has the last few issues. It is unfair to others who pick up a copy of the magazine only to find that their copy does not have a sticker. So, starting with the Jan-Feb 2023 issue of Behind Barz we are not going to place stickers in each copy. We will have stickers available for FREE but you have to send a self addressed, stamped envelope to our PO Box listed on previous page. We will then send you the sticker that goes with this issue (if you write “FLAMING SKULL” on the envelope) plus we will throw in 3 more stickers, of our choice. We hate this has to be done but with the time it takes to place each sticker in every copy and then people are pulling the stickers out we feel that this is the best way to do it right now. Thanks for your continued support! We still have lots of killer prizes from our sponsors on the previous page to give away. So remember, you can’t win it if you don’t stick it!
