Extra-curricular clubs

Overview of Clubs Donhead has a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities with over 60 clubs on offer each term.

From Preschool to Elements, we have clubs running before school, at lunchtime and after school by trusted companies, many of which have been working with Donhead for many years. We also have our own staff using their specialities to lead clubs. With specialist music, computing and art facilities, and the fantastic space on the lawn, court, auditorium, and sports hall, the club provision has never been so broad.

Our aim is to have students excited and energised by the clubs they attend, and we are always looking for ways to improve our offering.

Extra-curricular clubs

Club Sign-up Club sign-up opens via the Parent Portal, usually during the penultimate week of the preceding term.

Pre-Prep sign-up opens first, which is then followed by the Prep School.

Waiting lists - Within any academic year, if your child does not get a place in a club, please sign them up to the Waiting List. All students on the waiting lists will have priority the following term.

Selective clubs - Some clubs may not be available for sign-up and club leaders will contact parents directly for applications. e.g. Senior Art Club & Athletic Development Club.

Homework Class and After School Care - Both clubs run throughout the term, from Monday to Thursday. You will be charged automatically based on the Portal bookings for the day.

Please remember to remove your child when you don’t need the session anymore, so that others who need it can use the spaces.

Club pick-up For all after-school clubs students should be collected from the school gates by the main Reception.

If a parent or guardian is not at the gates at pick up time, the club instructor may take the students to After-School Club.

The After-School mobile number can be found on the door at the main Reception, and can be used to notify the After-School Club team that your child should be brought to the front for collection.

Often club providers have multiple clubs in one day, and they need to get ready to welcome students for their next session.

Please make every effort to arrive prompt for collection.

Club Charges, billings & Cancellations Taster sessions - Clubs will allow for a taster session in the first week of a term.

If after the session a child does not wish to continue, parents can contact the Club Co-Ordinator (clubs@donhead.org.uk) to make amendments.

If a child wishes to be removed after the first week, then charges may apply until the end of the half-term. This is at the discretion of the club provider.

Club costs are provided on the Club List sent out prior to the Portal opening.

Invoices - Club providers will invoice Parents/Guardians separately from the school. Details for making payment will be given by the external club provider.

Cancellations - Club fees are highlighted based on the term and if a student cannot attend a session they will still be charged on the termly rate.

Extra-curricular clubs

Club kit & Equipment Some clubs require students to be in certain uniform or kit.

Please follow the uniform guidance for each individual club.

When in Donhead PE or Games kit, make sure clothing is appropriate for the weather i.e. caps, tracksuit tops and bottoms.

Other clubs may require additional equipment which can be brought to school, such as hockey sticks or cricket bats.

The school will provide all necessary equipment except: Gumshields for Hockey and Rugby Boxes for hard-ball cricket Shin pads Footwear

Pre-Prep Clubs Timetable We have Pre-Prep clubs running throughout the day and with an additional slot after school. From 17:00 our Pre-Prep students also have the option of After-School Club, with collection from the main Reception at anytime in that hour.

Students will be supervised by staff between the end of school and the start of their club at 16:00.

Students can bring a snack with them to eat prior to their club start time.

Prep School Club Timetable In the Prep school, the club provision expands to meet the changing interests of our students. Clubs run until 18:00 with Homework Class and After-School supervision available for all year groups.

Students will be supervised by staff between the end of school and the start of their club at 16:00. For any clubs starting at 17:00, students will need to be supervised by Parents or signed into an earlier club.

Students can bring a healthy snack with them to eat prior to their club start time.

Extra-curricular clubs

Homework Class Homework Class for LP1 to Elements runs from 4:00pm to 5:00pm on Monday to Thursday.

Pupils are expected to stay for the whole hour to complete homework set for that evening. Expectations of behaviour remain the same as a throughout the normal school day.

An additional charge of £2.50 per session is made for this class.

Extra-curricular clubs

AFTER SCHOOL SUPERVISION For our Pre-prep students, After School care is available from 3:00pm-4:00pm Monday to Thursday, and 3:00pm to 4:00pm on a Friday. An additional charge of £8.50 per session is payable for this supervision. For further details, please contact the School Office.

After School Club is led by Mrs. Megarry and her team. For Early Years to PP2 the clubs runs from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, and for all Year Groups from 5:00pm to 5:55pm, on Monday to Thursday.

Donhead Clubs Lent term 2025 8th – 10th Jan – homework club & after-school club only 13th Jan – All clubs begin 17th – 21st Feb – Half-term week 31st Mar – 4th April – No clubs except homework club & after-school club NOTES TO PARENTS: All co-curricular activities can be booked online through the Parent Portal from Monday 9th December.

Pre-Prep (Nursery-year 2) - Portal opens at 20:00 Prep (year 3 -6) - Portal opens at 20:30 Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis. You will have access to your child’s enrolled and requested activities via the Portal.

Waiting lists - Within any academic year, if your child doesn't get a place in a club, please sign them up to the waiting list as all students on the waiting lists will have priority the following term over others who already have been in the club.

Club costs– All co-curricular clubs’ costs are termly and not by session. These costs allow for occasional clashes in school activities.

Please note that once a club has started and your child has attended more than 1 session, refunds are at the discretion of the club provider. Prices are provisional and subject to change.
