Bill White Announces Constellations Group Foundation to Donate $10,000. to Family of Marine Tragically Killed During Fleet Week

(1888PressRelease) New York, NY - Bill White, Chairman and CEO of Constellations Group and retired Intrepid President announced that the Constellations Group Foundation will donate $10K to the family of the Marine who died tragically in the early morning hours of May 26th during New York's annual Fleet Week celebration. The 22 year old Marine, dressed in full uniform, was struck by a car and killed as he was headed back to his ship, the USS Iwo Jima. The Marine reportedly exited a taxi and began crossing W. 49th Street when the tragedy occurred. In light of this sad event, Bill White, a longtime advocate and supporter of our nation's military personnel and their families, announced early this morning that the Constellations Group Foundation will donate $10K to the family of the young Marine. Lance Corporal Jorgenson is survived by his wife Hope Martinez. Fleet Week, a New York City annual event since 1984, is held in order to honor the U.S. Armed Forces and their families that so proudly dedicate themselves to serving our nation. The seven day event is traditionally a time for celebration that includes the opportunity for the public to tour visiting ships as well as the Intrepid, a longtime fixture to the New York Waterfront. There are also a variety of military demonstrations and displays and various events that allow the community to interact with and connect to our nation's military. In light of this horrible tragedy; many are, once again, reminded of just how fragile life is. "It is unfortunate that this young Marine was taken from his family and our nation during a time dedicating to celebrating and honoring his commitment to our country," noted Bill White. "Words cannot express our gratitude, love and respect properly and thanks for all this young Marine has done for our Country. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jorgenson family and our Marine Corps family at this difficult time." White was inspired to make this contribution in honor of his lifetime work with legendary philanthropist Zachary Fisher.
