Donald Robbins President and Founder of Robbins Financial Group, LLC Donald Robbins, LUTCF, is the President and founder of Robbins Financial Group, LLC (RFG), a Charlotte, North Carolina wealth management firm serving high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners. For more than two decades, he has developed his practice around a clear belief that a financial advisor should remain accountable only to the client. This principle has shaped how he built the firm, selected partnerships, and guided relationships with the families who rely on his advice. RFG's structure and approach it follows continue to reflect this commitment to client-focused service. His finance journey began at Elon University, where he studied economics while competing as a college athlete. Balancing academics and athletics helped shape the discipline he later applied to his career. He completed his bachelor's degree in three years and earned his North Carolina insurance license while working as an intern. After completing his education, he returned to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and began his career as a financial advisor with MetLife. He chose this opportunity because it offered an entrepreneurial environment based on merit, effort, and personal initiative, rather than a salaried position at a larger brokerage house. Since then, he has never worked in a salaried role. His dedication and commitment were recognized early in his career when he received MetLife's Rookie of the Year award in 2001 and later achieved Top Producer honors.

Building Robbins Financial Group In February 2005, Financial Advisor Don Robbins founded Robbins Financial Group to provide financial planning and advisory services through an independent firm structure. Before creating the firm, he had already achieved top advisor status at two of the largest life insurers in the country¹. He carried important lessons from those experiences into his own organization. One key belief was that an advisor should not have competing obligations and should remain focused on serving the client's best interests. Another was that organizations responsible for managing client assets should focus on long-term stability instead of short-term outcomes. These beliefs became the foundation of how he approached every decision within the firm. They were not simply statements about the business; they became standards that shaped how RFG developed its services, partnerships, and client relationships. By building a firm grounded in accountability and long-term thinking, he created an environment where clients could receive guidance tailored to their situations, goals, and priorities.

Expanding the Firm Through Trust and Growth A significant moment in the firm's history occurred in March 2015, when Donald Robbins transitioned the practice to MML Investors Services, LLC, a corporate registered investment platform. The move followed a multi-year due diligence process and reflected his belief that the foundation supporting client relationships was essential. When he asked 321 client households to transfer their business to the new platform, every household chose to make the transition. This response demonstrated the trust that clients had developed through years of working with him. Following this transition, the firm continued to expand its capabilities and resources. Since then, RFG has grown more than fivefold and has added experienced professionals, including Director of Operations Bridget McDonald, partner and advisor Adam Taff, licensed advisor Edward "Ned" Jordan, and senior consultant Dan Balogh. In 2023, the firm expanded further by acquiring Executive Benefits International. This addition strengthened its ability to provide executive benefits solutions and increased the range of services available to clients.

A Comprehensive Approach to Financial Planning Throughout more than 26 years in practice, Donald Robbins has worked with a wide range of clients, including athletic directors, professional athletes, entrepreneurs, executives, and physicians. Many of these clients have complex financial situations that require careful coordination and thoughtful planning. His work has focused on several areas, including wealth management, trust and estate planning, executive deferred compensation strategies, tax mitigation strategies, retirement income planning, and business succession planning. He believes that these areas are connected rather than separate. A decision involving investments, taxes, retirement, or estate planning can affect other parts of a client's financial life.

Because of this, he and his team focus on understanding the complete picture instead of addressing only individual financial concerns. This approach allows the firm to create plans that consider multiple factors and align different strategies with each client's broader objectives.

Coordinated Planning for Long-Term Goals Robbins Financial Group's planning model centers on collaboration and coordination. Donald Robbins and his team operate as a single-resource planning firm by working with a trusted network of attorneys, accountants, and other specialists. This structure helps clients receive guidance from different professionals while keeping their overall financial strategy connected. Rather than requiring clients to manage communication among multiple professionals, the firm brings together the necessary resources and keeps each part of the plan aligned. This coordinated approach can be especially important for individuals and families with business interests, investments, and estate considerations. When different areas of financial planning are connected, clients can make decisions with a clearer understanding of their potential impact.

A Commitment Built on Relationships For Donald Robbins, success has always been measured by more than a company's growth. The strongest reflection of his work comes from the relationships he has developed with families, business owners, and professionals over many years. Clients have continued to work with him through platform changes, shifting market conditions, and the continued growth of his practice. The foundation of his career remains the same as when he first started building his firm. Donald Robbins continues to lead Robbins Financial Group with a focus on putting clients first, creating long-term strategies, and maintaining the responsibility that comes with serving families and businesses. His approach remains centered on trust, accountability, and providing guidance that reflects each client's unique financial goals. ¹New York Life Insurance Company 10x Agent of the Year between 2005-2014.
