DONAHUE PLANS "FIAT!" SUMMER CONFERENCE

When Dr. Marc Snyder became principal of Donahue, one of his dreams was to have Donahue host a conference on Catholic classical education. After all, when a school is at the pinnacle of what Catholic classical education should be, it has a duty to spread the word!

Thanks to a providential private donation to the school directed to this mission, Donahue Academy, in partnership with Ave Maria University, will host the conference, FIAT! Devotion to Mary in the Life of the Catholic Classical Educator, June 21-23, 2024. The conference will feature key speakers from around the country as well as local educators dedicated to advancing the best in Catholic pedagogy.

The conference has several speakers lined up: Fr. John Belmonte, S.J., Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Venice; Dcn. Sean Costello, Superintendent for the Diocese of Winona/ Rochester; and Sr. Elizabeth John Wrigley, Dominican Sisters of Mary Mother of the Eucharist; as well as

Ave Maria’s own Dr. Denise Donohue of the Cardinal Newman Society and Dr. Daniel Lendman, theology professor at AMU.

Throughout the weekend, conference attendees will explore principles and practices in the life of Catholic, classical schools. They will pray together in Mass and with the rosary; they will also have time for fellowship in banquet and during a Saturday night outing to Naples. The conference will offer a rich opportunity for professional development and vocational revitalization.

Donahue humanities chair, Dr. Tyler Graham, is currently editing the Catholic classical journal, Gravissimum, which hopes to publish key essays from the conference and is the website host for the conference.
