System hacks and data breaches are the dangers that lurk for individuals and businesses in a technologically-advanced society that values data.

Encryption technology, made possible through cryptography, has several benefits for its users.

IT CAN BE USED ON DEVICES Modern encryption can be applied to a host of smart devices used by individuals. An iPhone, for example, encrypts data as long as passwords are enabled, or the Touch ID feature is activated. Android devices, on the other hand, have a section dedicated to security within the Settings feature; some Android devices even come with encryption enabled right out of the box.

IT ENSURES REGULATORY COMPLIANCE Some industries that handle sensitive data – such as health care, for example – require that patient information is encrypted. Such industries have enacted laws and regulations that describe the encryption standards to be met and the consequences of data loss as a result of poor (or non) adherence.
