MEET THE
Constantini

BY RESIDENT
HOLLY CONSTANTINI

Tell us about your family. Dan, Holly, Leo (8) and Lorraine (5). We also have a 17 year old pup, Ally.
What street do you live on? Wisner

What university did you attend? I went to DePaul University and then University of Illinois Chicago for my masters in nursing. Dan graduated from Loyola University and then Milwaukee School of Engineering with a Masters in Perfusion.
How did you and your spouse meet? We met the first day of my first clinical rotation for my nurse practitioner program. I was with the ventricular assist device team (a team that specializes with heart pumps used for treatment of advanced heart failure) and he was a perfusionist (someone who works the machine that keeps the blood pumping when the heart is stopped during heart and lung surgeries) working with the cardiac surgery team. A few weeks later we were on our first lunch “date” in the hospital cafeteria and the rest is history.
What are your professions? I am a nurse practitioner and have spent my career working cardiac surgery and advanced heart failure at the University of Chicago. In 2021, I started honing in on my other passion, aesthetic medicine, which has evolved into me owning my own aesthetics practice, Hollywood Skin in Park Ridge. Dan is a perfusionist at Northwestern Medicine and works a heart and lung machine for cardiac surgery and lung transplantation.

Tell us about your kids. Leo loves every activity and sport he has ever done. This year he will be playing baseball, basketball, flag football, and gymnastics. Leo loves a good party and would always be the last to leave if given the choice. Lorraine is our avid gymnast who can usually be found doing a cartwheel, somersault, or handstand no matter where she is.
How does your family contribute to fostering a sense of community spirit in the neighborhood? We have worked with Center for Care and Concern helping the elderly with their weekly errands. Holly has served on the philanthropy committee for the Park Ridge Newcomers Club. Hollywood Skin has sponsored Leo’s school Walkathon and the Park Ridge Newcomers Club annual charity event. Dan is the assistant coach for most of Leo and Lorraine’s sports teams.
What’s your favorite part of living in the community? Our neighbors and the best memories we have formed so far are in the simple, everyday things that we. We will always cherish memories of our kids playing outside with the neighbors, running from yard to yard like it’s 1989. We even took down the fence between our yard and the neighbors to allow for easier access for the kids.

Beautiful Sk St
By customizing face and body treatments to the individual needs of the patient, Uptown Med Spa can refresh and enhance an already beautiful you!
Snuggles, Snacks, & Stolen Stuffed Animals LIFE WITH CHLOE

Tell us about your pet.
Chloe is a 14 year old Goldendoodle, but she lives the life of a puppy. She’s quite the diva, demanding constant hugs, snuggles, and pets. Most of all she’s extremely loyal and the best companion to our whole family.
How did Chloe come to join your family? About 7 months after my husband and I got married, we wanted to extend our family with a furry pet before kiddos came into the picture. We got her from a breeder located in Indiana. She was the last one in the litter (very tiny in size) and literally came running to us jumping and hopping through the field. Her energy was infectious.
Does Chloe have any unique talents or tricks? She can sneak human food off the counter like no other. Probably not the best trick or talent but it’s impressive for her weight and size.
Does she have any favorite toys or treats? She loves stealing our kiddos stuffed animals to claim them as her own. Her favorite “treat” is waiting for our 17 month old to drop her food on the ground from her high chair.
Tell us about your favorite memory with Chloe. My favorite memory with Chloe is how she reacted to us bringing home our first son. She was so protective of him, never leaving his side and always at my feet when I fed him. She’s since adjusted to three kids in the household and keeping up with
If she could choose any adventure to go on, what would it Anything outside! Chloe loves a good outdoor adventure, hiking, park, you name it. She loves to sniff all the new smells and run around as if she’s a puppy again.
What is Chloe’s “pet peeve”? Not getting a treat after she went potty outside. Or not being constantly pet when we are entertaining and have friends and family over.

DON’T MISS THE Stroll Park Ridge Monthly Coffee! Open to all in the Park Ridge community. Our next community coffees will take place on Wednesday, August 26th and Wednesday, September 30th from 9 - 10:15 AM at the Park Ridge Country Club. Thanks to Sue Hall @properties for hosting these fun community gatherings! We look forward to seeing you all!

ELECTROLYTE EQUALITY
What to look for and avoid when shopping for your next

Not all electrolyte beverages are created equal. Some opt for high sodium content, others eliminate sugar, and some have additives like caffeine. That’s before you decide on your format of canned, bottled, tablet, or powder. What should you look for in electrolyte drinks? What, if anything, should you avoid? We’re tackling those questions and other tips to know about this trending beverage below.
At a minimum, a good electrolyte drink should contain sodium, potassium, and magnesium. Sodium gets most of the attention, but potassium and magnesium are equally important for fluid balance and muscle function. For everyday hydration, look for a product with a moderate sodium range and minimal added sugar. A small amount of sugar can actually help your body absorb sodium more efficiently, but too much turns your hydration drink into juice. When in doubt, shorter ingredient lists are usually a better sign. Avoid artificial coloring and sweeteners, but also be wary of vague terms like "proprietary blend.” A good rule of thumb is, if you can't pronounce it or identify it, put it back on the shelf.
Since electrolyte drinks are classified as supplements, they aren't regulated by the FDA the same way food and medicine are. Use research from other reliable sources, such as NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) and testing publications such as Forbes or Bon Appétit, to guide your decisions.
As for which format is best, the answer is easier than you might think. Decide which one you are most likely to consume. For example, if you travel a lot, you might prefer a TSAfriendly tablet or powder over a precanned option. The format is only the vehicle. It’s what's inside that counts. When

What school do you attend? I am in 8th grade at St. Paul of the Cross.
What sport do you play and how long have you been playing? I have played soccer for 10 years.
BEN WALDECK
BY RESIDENT BEN WALDECK

What inspired you to get started with soccer? I started with Little Kickers when I was 3. I played for Hawks when I was 4, then played PRSC House league before playing for PRSC Travel the past 3 years. I thought it was always fun so I stuck with it and love learning and growing each year I play.
What position do you play? I play Center Midfield. What do you enjoy most when playing soccer? Being on a team with all my friends.
What is your proudest moment? My proudest moment is when I made the travel team.
Who is someone you admire? My Mom because she got me into playing this sport and always tells me to play with grit, but to never forget to have fun.
What advice do you have for others looking to get into soccer? When you get cut or you are not having fun and want to play another sport, just stick with it and keep playing. Each year brings new challenges, but also opportunities.
If you were to continue playing soccer, what do you hope to become or accomplish someday? I hope to stick with it and play it in college or make it pro.
What do you like to do when you’re not playing soccer? I like to bike around with my friends. I also play basketball and volleyball at SPC.

WHERE HEALING BEGINS Rainbows
for All Children
BY JUSTINE FAUSCH, DIRECTOR PARK RIDGE/NILES CHAPTER
RAINBOWS FOR ALL CHILDREN is a nonprofit organization that provides free peer-support groups for children and teens navigating difficult life changes such as the death of a loved one, divorce or separation, deployment, incarceration, and other significant losses. Our mission is simple: to provide children with a safe, supportive environment where they can build resilience and heal alongside their peers.
What types of services or programs does it offer? Each year, we offer two 12-week sessions led by trained volunteer facilitators. Through age-appropriate activities, games, discussions, and creative projects, children learn healthy coping skills while forming meaningful connections with others facing similar challenges.
What’s your role in this cause? As the Director of the Park Ridge/Niles chapter since 2024, I’ve worked to grow our local

chapter—recruiting volunteer facilitators, building partnerships with schools and community organizations, coordinating fundraising efforts, and helping ensure every child can participate free of charge.
What inspired you to dedicate your time to this cause? My involvement began after experiencing my own divorce and watching firsthand how difficult that transition can be for children. I wished a program like this had been available for my own family, and when I learned about Rainbows, I knew I wanted to bring it to our community.
What challenges have you encountered along the way? One of the greatest challenges has been increasing community awareness. Many families don’t know this program exists until they’re in the middle of a crisis.
How can others in your community get involved? We’re excited to continue expanding our reach, recruiting additional volunteer facilitators, and growing community partnerships so

we can serve even more children. Our groups meet Tuesday evenings at the Park Ridge Community Church and welcome children in grades 1st–8th. We also welcome financial donations, which allow us to provide all programming at no cost to participating families. If you’d like to learn more, volunteer, or support our mission, we’d love to connect with you.

Strolling into August
BY RESIDENT PAUL HANSEN
August strolls in on a warm summer breeze
We hear in coming through the trees
Limbs waving shaking all the leaves
Heat and rain taking their turns
As we try to avoid getting sunburned
Every day is special here

Knowing school’s start is coming near
Families on vacation not around
But still much goes on in town
Bike riders are everywhere
Strollers and joggers here and there
The riverside trails too are full
And everyone is swimming at the pool
Memories of summers past fly by
Life goes by in the blink of an eye
Cherish every moment that you can
Soon autumn will be here again
Is there anything you still want to do?
Something special, something new?
Knock things off your bucket list
Do it now, don’t be remiss
August is just starting no you see
And when it is gone we will be sorry
Time to do things may not come again soon
Enjoy the daily sun and evening moon
Even the smallest things can bring delight
And light up the darkest night
Wave to one another on your walks
Share your joy in your talks
I will see you all and smile
Knowing life is all worthwhile.

Positively Park Ridge Person of the Month LARA LISS
BY STROLL PARK RIDGE STAFF
WE ARE INCREDIBLY PROUD to honor Lara Liss as our Positively Park Ridge Person of the Month.
For the past 19 years, Lara has called Park Ridge home, but her connection to the community runs even deeper through her husband, Joe, a lifelong resident whose family has been part of Park Ridge for more than 50 years. Together, they have raised three children, AJ, David and Julia, along with their beloved Bernedoodle, Buddy, while embracing the traditions, friendships and spirit that make Park Ridge so special.

Much of Lara’s volunteer work has centered around an organization close to her heart: Girl Scouts. She has served as a troop leader for the past decade at Roosevelt, Lincoln and Maine South and currently serves on the board of Girl Scouts of Greater

Open M-F 8:00am - 5:00pm

Chicago and Northwest Indiana. Inspired by generations of strong women leaders, Lara hopes to encourage the girls in her troop to earn their Gold Awards and inspire younger girls to be curious, confident and engaged in the world around them.
Lara’s community involvement extends well beyond scouting. She has been a room parent, a V-Show coach at Roosevelt, a volunteer soccer coach with Park Ridge Soccer Club, and a dedicated parent volunteer for Maine South athletics. Professionally, she also serves on the board of an international association with members in 150 countries, a role that takes her around the globe.
“Community involvement is what takes a town and makes it a home,” Lara says. In an era marked by loneliness and disconnection, she believes volunteering creates meaningful bonds and lasting friendships. To new residents looking to get involved, her advice is simple: start with one cause that resonates with you and volunteer for one event. “You’ll be surprised how quickly you build meaningful connections.”
Lara also believes being a good neighbor comes down to the little things: bringing in someone’s mail, shoveling a sidewalk, dropping off a meal or sending a thoughtful text.
Through her leadership, volunteerism and genuine care for others, Lara embodies what it means to be Positively Park Ridge. From mentoring young girls through scouting to supporting her children’s schools and activities, she has helped make Park Ridge a more connected, welcoming place to call home. Congratulations Lara!

When in Rome
BY RESIDENT SCOTT CASTELLANOS
CIAO A TUTTI, which is Italian for “Hello everybody.” You guessed it, the family just got back from Italy, which means I will be insufferable for the next couple of months, talking about Bolognese, spritzes and coffee. I am kidding of course, or at least I hope so. It was an amazing vacation, and I am so glad we did it as a family. Leading up to the trip was a different story. When the logistics of the trip started coming together, the kids were not too excited. They didn’t look at it like a once-in-a-lifetime vacation filled with history, culture and breathtaking views. To them it was us ripping them away from their friends and forcing them to spend every waking hour with their boring old parents, for over two weeks. To quote one of my sons, “You are ruining my summer.”
Fast forward to the trip, those feelings faded away and the boys embraced all Italy had in store for us. My oldest son loves history, and he took in all the stories and historic places. My youngest thought the art was entertaining, especially the lack of clothing in many pieces, which kept him and I giggling our way through multiple museums. The boys poked fun at me for attempting to speak Italian and I poked fun at them for wanting to go to the same clothing stores they can find at Old Orchard. I believe their words were, “But this Zara is in Italy.” The only things the boys

weren’t happy about were breakfast-related. My oldest couldn’t find chocolate milk, and my youngest wanted bacon and eggs, as opposed to the pastry and cappuccino the cafés had to offer.
My favorite was dinner time because when you sit down to eat in Italy, they assume you’re staying for the night, and we took full advantage. We tried each other’s food, laughed, and had conversations about everything. My wife was smiling ear-toear, which had to feel great because this was her dream coming to life. I know we may not get many more full family vacations going forward, but I am grateful we got this one. That being said, ciao a tutti, which also means “Goodbye everybody.”
