Fixtures Competitive fixtures are a cornerstone of sport at Dollar Academy and play an important role in every pupil's sporting journey. Fixtures provide opportunities for pupils to apply the skills developed in training, experience the challenges and rewards of competition, and represent the school with pride, commitment and integrity. Our fixture programme is designed to offer meaningful opportunities for participation and development across all age groups and abilities. Whether representing the school for the first time, competing in a development team or playing at senior level, pupils are encouraged to embrace the values of teamwork, respect, resilience and sportsmanship in every fixture. Fixtures are viewed as an extension of the educational experience. Through competition, pupils learn to communicate effectively, make decisions under pressure, demonstrate leadership, celebrate success with humility and respond positively to setbacks. These experiences help to develop confidence, independence and character, providing valuable life skills that extend well beyond the sporting arena. We ask all pupils to demonstrate excellent standards of behaviour when representing Dollar Academy, showing respect for teammates, opponents, officials, coaches and spectators at all times. Equally, we encourage parents and supporters to contribute positively to the match-day environment by promoting enjoyment, effort and respect for everyone involved. The success of our fixture programme relies on a strong partnership between pupils, parents and staff. We appreciate the commitment shown by families in supporting training, travel and fixtures throughout the academic year, and we look forward to working together to ensure that every pupil enjoys a positive, rewarding and memorable sporting experience

Whether pupils are taking part in Physical Education, training after school, representing the Academy in fixtures, attending sports tours or participating in strength and conditioning sessions, their wellbeing will always take precedence over performance or results. Our coaches and staff are committed to creating positive sporting experiences where pupils are encouraged to challenge themselves, develop resilience and enjoy competition within an environment built on trust, respect and kindness. We recognise that children thrive when they feel safe, supported and able to express themselves, and we strive to ensure that every pupil has a voice and knows where to turn if they have a concern. All staff involved in the sports programme receive appropriate safeguarding training, understand their responsibilities for child protection and uphold the highest standards of professional conduct. Visiting coaches and external providers are expected to meet the same standards and work within the Academy's safeguarding procedures. Parents are valued partners in supporting the wellbeing of our pupils. Open communication between home and school enables us to provide the best possible care for every young person. We encourage parents to share any information that may affect their child's welfare, participation or enjoyment of sport, and we are always available to discuss any concerns they may have. We also ask parents and spectators to support the positive culture of our sports programme by promoting respect, encouraging effort and enjoyment, and recognising that every pupil develops at their own pace. Together, we can ensure that sport remains a positive and rewarding experience for all. If a pupil or parent has any safeguarding concern relating to sport, they should speak to a member of the coaching staff, the Director of Sport or the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mrs L Langley. Every concern, however small it may seem, will be listened to carefully and managed in accordance with the Academy's safeguarding procedures. At Dollar Academy, we believe that outstanding sporting experiences are built upon outstanding pastoral care. By placing pupil welfare at the centre of every decision we make, we create an environment where young people can participate with confidence, strive for excellence and develop the character, resilience and values that will serve them throughout their lives.

Fixtures and Competitions Competitions and Representative Sport Sport at Dollar Academy provides pupils with the opportunity to compete at a range of levels throughout their school journey. Our fixture programme is carefully designed to offer meaningful and age-appropriate competitive experiences that support skill development, teamwork, resilience and a lifelong enjoyment of sport. Local Competitions Local fixtures form the foundation of our competitive programme. Throughout the academic year, pupils participate in friendly fixtures, festivals and competitions against neighbouring schools. These fixtures provide regular opportunities for pupils of all abilities to apply their learning, develop confidence and represent the Academy in a supportive and enjoyable environment. Regional Competitions As pupils progress, many teams compete in regional leagues, championships and cup competitions. These events offer an increased level of challenge and provide valuable opportunities for pupils to test themselves against strong opposition from across the region while continuing to develop their technical, tactical and personal skills. National Competitions Dollar Academy is proud to compete in a variety of national school competitions across a number of sports. Participation in national championships and cup competitions allows pupils to experience high-quality competition while representing the Academy on a wider stage. Independent Schools' Competitions As part of our extensive fixture programme, Dollar Academy competes regularly against independent schools from across Scotland and, where appropriate, further afield within the United Kingdom. These fixtures provide pupils with the opportunity to experience different styles of play, build lasting sporting relationships and uphold the traditions and values associated with independent school sport. Such competitions are an important part of our sporting calendar and contribute significantly to pupils' development and enjoyment of sport.
Representative Sport Many Dollar Academy pupils are selected to represent their clubs, local authorities, districts, regions and national governing bodies in their chosen sports. We are proud to celebrate these achievements and recognise the commitment and dedication required to perform at this level. The Academy works collaboratively with families, clubs and governing bodies to support pupils who are balancing school sport with representative commitments. Our priority is to ensure that pupils enjoy a positive, well-balanced sporting experience that promotes both high performance and long-term wellbeing. Our Philosophy While we take great pride in sporting success, our primary aim is to provide every pupil with meaningful opportunities to compete, develop and grow through sport. Whether participating in a local fixture, competing in a national championship or representing their region or country, pupils are encouraged to approach every competition with integrity, resilience, respect and pride in representing Dollar Academy. We believe that competitive sport is an extension of the educational experience. Through competition, pupils learn to challenge themselves, support their teammates, respect their opponents and develop the confidence, character and leadership skills that will serve them well beyond their school years.
