This issue features DOGS NSW Elections, so if you are eligible to vote in the Metropolitan Region and you still receive a hard copy of the magazine, you will find your Ballot Paper along with a Ballot Paper Only and Returning Officer envelopes enclosed. For those members opting to view the digital magazine and eligible to vote, you will receive a separate postal vote in the mail, with the Ballot Paper and envelopes enclosed.
Please read the Ballot Paper carefully as it contains instructions on the proper manner of completion before the paper is marked. Each Ballot paper, once completed, must be placed in the Ballot Paper Only Envelope, sealed and then placed in the Returning Officer envelope. Please ensure that you complete the back of the Returning Officer envelope with your details, then seal and affix a stamp, before posting. Voting closes 12 NOON, Friday 7 August 2020, with the count on Saturday, 8th August 2020 at Orchard Hills, commencing at 9.00am. There are five (5) Nominees standing for the two (2) Metropolitan Region positions and these are profiled from pages 8 through to 10. Additionally, those nominees standing for the Hunter, Illawarra /South East and Western Regions, who were all elected unopposed, are featured on page 11. There are four (4) positions available for the Obedience & Tracking Committee, with six (6) nominees profiled, from pages 12 to 14. The ballot papers for the Obedience & Tracking Committee can be found on page 16, with the second ballot paper to be used for joint members only. Please remember to following the instructions carefully on the Ballot Paper otherwise your vote could be invalid.
The Agility Committee’s two (2) nominees, featured on page 15, were both elected unopposed. Our spotlight feature for this month is the Harrier, a friendly, sweettempered pack hound, who loves the company of people or dogs and is excellent with children. It is an active breed, which loves to go exploring, sniffing and trailing, so best to keep on a leash at all times, unless in a safely enclosed area. Thank you to John Bryson who assisted in this feature.
AWCLO Deidre Crofts returns to write us an article on Dog Breeding during the pandemic and how it has impacted our registered breeders. This article features on page 23. Some interesting information has come forward as a news article, that shows that many pet owners are using the lockdown to focus on the health of their cats and dogs. The data shows that many owners had increased routine vet visits, ensuring everything is up to date, and elective procedures are taking place. To read more on these findings please turn to page 26. Finally, as many of us are now returning to the work place, some of our four-legged friends may be feeling a little anxious. To help reduce separation anxiety in pets there are a number of things you can do to assist. Please turn to pages 24 to 25 to find out how. Winners of the May competition to win a copy of Older Dog? No Worries book, were Sandy O’Neill, Diane Richmond, Noelle Deshon, Ellie Kay and Jim Collier. Winners of the ‘Good Dog’ book competition were: Greg Lamb, Kathy Drew, Carol Daniel, Margret Gardner and Kelly Fleming. Kerry Kerry Christofi
