Greyhound-like canines have appeared throughout the centuries in artistry, pottery, literature and within the tombs of the ancient pyramids. Regardless of their exact lineage and name derivation, they are one of the more unique breeds in the world that are recognised for their elegant appearance, grace, gentleness, loyalty, agility and speed.

Dear Members,
Chairman's REPORT
This issue highlights many of the positive contributions made by our dedicated Committees, individual members, and the many silent achievers who work tirelessly for the benefit of DOGS NSW.
The recent Fast and Furious shows were an outstanding success, as detailed in this edition. Spearheaded by the Finance Committee, the initiative drew over 1,200 entries across four shows—an impressive achievement that showcases both innovation and engagement within our community.
Similarly, the National Obedience, Rally and Trick Trials held on 26–27 April proved to be another major success, attracting over 550 entries, many from interstate. With 18 sponsors supporting the event, the DOGS NSW Obedience, Tracking and Performance Disciplines Committee is to be commended for their exceptional efforts in securing broad support for this national showcase. The Rally and Trick Trials continue to demonstrate the growing popularity of our dog sports, with 183 entries for Tricks and 218 for Rally. The continued rise in participation, including from interstate exhibitors, is a testament to the strength of our programming and the passion of our members.
On the legislative front, our Media and Government Legislation Committee has been actively engaging with key government stakeholders. Meetings were recently held with The Hon. Ron Hoenig, Minister for Local Government, as well as representatives from the Department of Primary Industries (DPI), including Dr Kim Filmer and her staff. Discussions included the implications of BIN numbers, zoning and development approvals and the proposed Code of Practice. As stakeholders, DOGS NSW also participated in a DPI-led workshop in Sydney, collaborating with other like-minded organisations to express shared concerns and perspectives. A summary of this session will be compiled by the DPI and distributed in due course.
Our submissions to government are backed by a diverse Committee of breeders, animal welfare experts and community advocates. It is important to note that current legislative reforms apply to the broader animal welfare sector and are not designed to single out DOGS NSW members, although they do affect us.
Our staff continue to deliver a standard of service that is second to none in Australia. We remind members that DOGS NSW does not conduct business via social media, and personal targeting of staff or volunteers online is unacceptable.
Finally, it is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Shirley Donaldson in May. Shirley was a much-loved and long-serving member - an icon of our dog world. We extend our sincere condolences to her family. Her legacy lives on and we remember her fondly every time we pass by her beloved kitchen. Vale Shirley.
Kind Regards
Her Excellency The Honourable Margaret Beazley AO KC, Governor of New South Wales
In May, the DOGS NSW Finance Committee introduced the inaugural Fast N Furious event, a cluster of four fastpaced Championship Shows, with an innovative approach. The shows ran consecutively, with each show starting and finishing on time on time, which meant that no one went home in the dark. The judging of over 1200 dogs was swift and confident, with each ring having it’s own soundtrack. The success and popularity of these shows will hopefully encourage younger exhibitors to join in, as more Fast N Furious shows are planned. Coverage of the inaugural event commences on page 12 with photos supplied by Cabal Canine Candids and Noeleen Marmont Photography.
DOGS NSW Obedience, Tracking & Performance Disciplines Committee hosted the National Obedience, Rally & Trick Trials over the weekend of 26 and 27 April at Orchard Hills grounds. There were 554 entries, with many from Queensland, ACT, Victoria and Tasmania, and Judges from Queensland, Victoria and NSW presiding over the three sports. Coverage of the Nationals commences on page 24, with images supplied by Cynthia McDonall of VeroFojt Photography.
We honour Shirley Donaldson this month with a vale on page 8. Few people would have experienced the tough beginning that Shirley had at such a young age, and yet, with love and determination, Shirley’s life was full. She was much loved by her family, friends and the whole dog community, and I doubt there were many members that hadn’t tasted her breakfast pikelets and scones at one of the many shows for which she catered. Shirley’s energy was unlimited and even when still in hospital, she was still organising the next catering booking. She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity and tireless spirit, her love of cooking, gardening and most of all, her devotion to family. Rest in Peace Shirley!
In News (on page 10), Rat lungworm disease is on the rise in eastern Australia in dogs – and there have even been recorded cases in humans, including two known lethal incidents. Further, on page 21, research undertaken by a team of animal behaviour experts at the University of Lincoln, UK, has revealed a game-changing approach to training sniffer dogs, which could revolutionise the field of dog detection.
Our breed spotlight features the elegant and gentle Greyhound, with the feature commencing on page 18.

Celebrating the Life of Shirley June Donaldson (1932–2025)
Shirley June Donaldson lived an extraordinary life marked by resilience, enterprise and generosity. Born on November 20, 1932, in Paddington, Sydney, she was the third child of Alfred and Elizabeth Schoer. Her early years were shaped by the hardships of the Great Depression and World War II, experiences that fostered her remarkable strength and independence.
As a young child, Shirley experienced many changes in her family life. When her mother moved away with baby June, Shirley went to live with her grandparents and two young aunts in Willoughby, where she began school at the early age of four. Surrounded by a busy household, she adapted quickly and learned to be independent. In time, she was reunited with her father and older brothers in Auburn, and the family later settled together in Silverwater.
Despite the challenges of her early years, Shirley’s resourcefulness and determination were already evident. She and her brother Ken devised a pancake-selling scheme to local factories and later busked outside a leather factory to fund their weekend cinema trips. Their mischievous ventures were often brought to a halt by their younger sister, June, who was more inclined to follow the rules.
Shirley developed a close bond with her brother Ken, sharing a love of music that would endure throughout her life. In her childhood, she took on the role of managing the household: cooking, cleaning and growing vegetables, skills that she carried with her into adulthood.
Leaving school at around 14 or 15 years of age, Shirley took on various factory jobs, including roles at General Electric and Casecraft. During her school years, she became close to the Donaldson family and eventually married Kevin Donaldson in 1952, when both were just 19 years old. Together they had four children: Anthony, Kerrie, Stephen and Cathy. In the early 1970s, they also adopted a young boy named Alan, who remained with them for a decade.
Initially living in a small weatherboard house with extended family, Shirley and Kevin later moved into their own home at 140 Harrow Road, Auburn. The modest house grew over the years with Kevin’s many home additions and remained Shirley’s residence for nearly seven decades.
In the mid-1960s, Shirley began working at the Berala Hotel dining room, balancing cooking duties with babysitting responsibilities for many children, including her own. Her enterprising nature and talent for cooking led to a broader career in catering. She went on to run food operations at the Auburn Bowling Club, a hot food van at the RSPCA in Yagoona, DOGS NSW and several Masonic Clubs across Sydney. She was also the regular caterer for Strathfield Council’s Christmas lunches for many years.
Shirley’s love of animals, especially dogs and cats, was lifelong. In the 1970s, she began showing Pekingese dogs through the Ladies Pekingese Kennel Club. Her participation quickly expanded to include catering for dog show events - an opportunity that marked the beginning of her formal catering career.

Her passion for animal care led her to volunteer at the Yagoona animal shelter and study veterinary nursing at TAFE, which helped cover the costs of caring for her pets. Later, she completed a computer course at Bankstown TAFE, becoming proficient with technology well into her 90s, an unusual and admirable achievement for someone of her generation.
Music remained a constant source of joy. At 16, Shirley competed in a radio station singing contest and earned second place for her performance of Danny Boy, a recording she proudly cherished. Her home was often filled with the sounds of Englebert Humperdinck, Slim Whitman, Mitch Miller and Nana Mouskouri. In her later years, she performed with the Kelly Variety Club and the Golden Girls, entertaining residents in nursing homes—many younger than herself.
Shirley and Kevin shared over 70 years of marriage before Kevin’s passing in June 2022. Their legacy includes four children, nine grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Shirley’s pride in her family was constant, and she often spoke of their achievements with affection and admiration.
Even in her final days, Shirley remained characteristically strong. After suffering a fall in March 2025 that resulted in fractured ribs, she was admitted to ICU. She amazed doctors with her swift recovery, quickly returning to managing messages, bookings, and family conversations. On March 21, she shared pizza and political commentary with her family before succumbing to a major aneurysm. She passed peacefully in the early hours of March 26, with her heart and spirit remaining strong until the end.
Shirley June Donaldson’s life was defined by hard work, creativity, and care for others. She gave generously of her time, energy, and wisdom, never sitting still and always looking for the next task, the next recipe, or the next performance. Her strength, wit, and compassion will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In honour of Shirley, DOGS NSW have named the kitchen in the Amenities Building, ‘Shirley’s Kitchen’ and signage now takes pride of place there, along with a plaque which says: ‘ This Kitchen is dedicated to the memory of Shirley Donaldson, who devoted countless hours in this kitchen, preparing and cooking with love for the Clubs and Members of DOGS NSW over many years. Her warmth, generosity and tireless spirit nourished more than just meals. She nourished hearts and brought people together.’ Rest in Peace Shirley. 1932- 2025

Rat lungworm disease on East Coast Australia impacted by shifts in weather and climate
More dogs are catching the disease, posing a potential public health risk
Rat lungworm disease is on the rise in eastern Australia in dogs – and there have even been recorded cases in humans, including two known lethal incidents. Caused by a parasite naturally found in rats, the disease requires ongoing monitoring to ensure it is controlled and doesn’t pose a public health threat.
Research by veterinary scientists at the University of Sydney has unveiled insights into what is behind the growth in the disease, also known as neural angiostrongyliasis. Their study highlights how climatic factors act as drivers for this potential public health issue. Their findings are published in The Journal of Infectious Diseases 1
Rat lungworm disease has spread from its origins in Southeast Asia to regions including Australia, North America and Europe. Naturally found in feral rats scavenging in our cities, the parasite causing the disease is transmitted through snails and slugs, which act as intermediary hosts.
Senior author Professor Jan Šlapeta from the Sydney School of Veterinary Science said: “These snails and slugs, and the infective worm larvae in them, can accidentally, be a disease source to us humans and our pet dogs. Once in humans or dogs the worms quickly get to brain where they cause disease.”
Professor Šlapeta and his team analysed five years of data to develop a model that identifies high risk periods for transmission of the disease between two and 10 months after heavy rainfall. The scientists identified 93 cases in dogs in the study period, with a peak of 32 in 2022. This peak was due to high rainfall, a driver of snail and slug proliferation.
Professor Šlapeta said: “This is another example how the La Niña events with wetter than average periods in Australia lead to increased disease transmission and occurrence.”
The confirmed cases in the study were in and around Sydney and Brisbane, likely due to access to emergency veterinary care and higher population density.
The results shed light on the intricate relationship between climatic and weather conditions, such as rainfall and temperature fluctuations, and the threat of emergence of the disease in humans and domestic dogs.
Rat lungworm disease is caused by the parasite Angiostrongylus cantonensis, which is naturally found in rats. However, humans and dogs are considered accidental hosts, and infection can lead to devastating neurological consequences.
Lead author Phoebe Rivory, who has submitted her PhD thesis to the Sydney School of Veterinary Science, said: “In dogs and humans, the parasite enters the brain but rather than progressing to the lungs, like it does in rats, it is killed in the brain by our own immune response. It is that overt immune response that causes severe headaches and sensations.”
Using a One Health approach, which emphasises the interconnectedness of human, animal and environmental health, the researchers examined a dataset of canine infections to inform potential risks for human populations. By monitoring canine neural angiostrongyliasis cases, the team aimed to fill a significant gap in understanding how climate factors drive the occurrence of this zoonotic disease, an infection that jumps from animals to humans.
Notably, this research emphasises the importance of identifying the high-risk periods for transmission, allowing for targeted public health interventions to mitigate the spread of the disease. The study found that climatic patterns influenced the seasonal occurrence of rat lungworm disease, increasing the likelihood of transmission to dogs and potentially to humans.
Professor Šlapeta said: “This work is a clear representation of the One Health approach, illustrating how insights gained from studying animal diseases can effectively inform human medicine. With ongoing changes in climate, understanding the epidemiology of rat lungworm disease becomes imperative for protecting our pets and ourselves.”
The implications of this research are particularly poignant, especially when recalling the tragic case of Sam Ballard,2. who died seven years ago after consuming an infected slug in 2010. There have been at least half a dozen recorded cases in humans since the 1970s in Australia,3. including at least one other fatal incident. These underscore the potential severity of rat lungworm disease, reinforcing the urgent need for heightened awareness and preventive measures.
As the number of reported cases in dogs rises, this study serves as a call to action for health professionals, policymakers and the public to remain vigilant. Professor Šlapeta said: “Educating communities about how to avoid infection, by steering clear of potentially infected slugs and snails, can be lifesaving. And programs to inform dog owners on what symptoms to look out for in their pets would be worthwhile.”
The research team encourages further investigation into the impact of environmental changes on disease dynamics. This would be assisted by including data on snail and slug abundance and the related availability of infective parasite larvae.

The Dog Show that offered a new way of thinking
On Saturday 17 May 2025, DOGS NSW unleashed a bold new event that had everyone talking – and barking – for all the right reasons. Welcome to Fast N Furious, the show format that retained the essence of tradition, but turned up the tempo with a bold new approach.
Set against the familiar backdrop of The Bill Spilstead Complex, the inaugural Fast N Furious Championship Shows felt anything but ordinary. From the beats between rings to the fast-turn around judging schedule, this event was confident, contemporary and refreshingly original — while still honouring the spirit of the sport.
Four Shows. One Day. Seamlessly Delivered
The numbers alone are jaw-dropping. In just six hours:
• Over 1,200 dogs were judged
• No one went home in the dark
• Each show started and finished on time
The day ran like a stopwatch – four shows kicked off at 8:30am, 10:30am, 12:30pm and 2:30pm sharp. Each show ran for exactly two hours, start to finish. No delays. No downtime. Just clean transitions, marshals in high-vis vests keeping things in check, and exhibitors hustling ringside with military precision.
“This was dog showing like we’ve never seen it before,” said one enthusiastic participant. “It was sharp, social and so much fun. I was home before sunset – and my dogs had a blast.”
Feel-Good Music, Right-On-Time Rings
Yes, there was music. Each show had its own soundtrack, music filled the air between rounds, and themed intros turned the General Specials ring into something that felt more Melbourne Cup Day than your usual Saturday show. Not everyone was sold on the volume – a few exhibitors noted their dogs were a little overwhelmed – but overall, the vibe was electric. One attendee joked, “Let the dogs choose the playlist next time. Mine’s definitely a Led Zeppelin fan.”

The Dog Show that offered a new way of thinking
Praise- and a Few Points to Polish
Feedback from the post-event survey came in hot – and overwhelmingly positive.
• 90% rated the show “Good” or “Excellent”
• 94% said they’d return
• 87% of those who didn’t attend said they’d like to try it next time
Described as “fresh, exciting, and long overdue”, FNF proved that dog shows can still evolve. That said, there were some gentle suggestions for improvement:
• Some exhibitors expressed a preference for traditional ribbon presentations
• A few exhibitors found four shows in one day just on the edge of too much
• There was a call to simplify entry systems – with a suggestion to open all shows at once for less stress
The Future Is Fast (And Furry)
The Fast N Furious Committee have exciting future models that are being planned and rolled out shortly. And the ideas are flowing – themed events are in development.
But it’s not just about the show ring sparkle. The numbers reveal this is also a savvy model for sustainability and growth:
• The format attracts regional exhibitors, making the trip more worthwhile
• If replicated nationwide, FNF-style events could create a lot of positive revenue annually
Fast N Furious isn’t just a new event - it’s a fresh direction
A direction that shows dog sports can evolve while staying true to their roots. That we can value exhibitors’ time, energise the experience, and bring community, competition, and fun together in one vibrant day.
If the aim was to explore what the future of some dog showing could look like — this was a bold first step. Structured. Spirited. Refreshingly different. Just like the dogs that inspire us.

One of three copies of Dog’s Best Friend by Giuseppe Santamaria Win!
If Your Dog Could Talk, What Would It Say About You?
Given Australia’s love affair with dogs, it is no wonder that dog owners are the focus of renowned photographer, Giuseppe Santamaria’s latest book. He wanted to examine the unique ways in which dogs and their humans co-exist in concrete jungles.
He embarked on a journey around the world, visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, New York City, London, Milan, Paris, Toronto, Melbourne & Sydney and asked all the owners the question above. It sparked warm smiles and heartfelt responses revealing the unique personalities and connections between dogs and their best friends. Some of the responses were:
‘ We’ve been together 14 years. She’s seen me through everything.’ – Jen and their dog Lilly NY
‘I think we do a lot for each other. It’s a very therapeutic relationship’ - Adriana and dog Bubos, Sydney
About the Author: Giuseppe Santamaria
Giuseppe Santamaria is a street photographer and art director based in Sydney, Australia.
In 2010 he started a photography project called Men In This Town, a street style blog that captured men with a distinct look in their natural habitat, in cities around the world.
Over the past 15 years, the project has evolved and been published into a series of books taking a closer look at who the people on the street are and their particular approach to the many facets of life.

Your pup’s favourite sleeping place: the cold hard concrete floor inside. Not the orthopaedic beds (multiple) we bought her!
Your pup’s favourite trick: She goes to her “settle mat/place” and lays down when asked.
Why is your puppy the best? She is already confident and very sure of herself. She is inspiring me to be more like that!

Greyhound
History
The exact historical origin of the Greyhound is unknown, although thought to be Africa, Greece, Middle East, or Turkey. Centuries of breeding have resulted in one of the most remarkable breeds of dog known to man. A very ancient breed, some say it dates back over 4,000 years ago, making it the oldest purebred canine. It is a sighthound, which has been historically bred for coursing game and now also for Greyhound racing.
Greyhounds primarily hunt by eyesight, as opposed to other canines, which use scent. Greyhounds have the ability to see distances up to half a mile away (805 metres). A characteristic of the sighthound is the instinct to chase, and Greyhounds are noted for reaching speeds up to 70 kph in three strides.
These remarkable creatures have been a symbol of pride and respect for many great civilisations. The following are just some of the impressions they have made throughout history:
The first evidence of long, lean canines resembling the Greyhound appeared in temple drawings in the city of CatalHuyuk in Turkey, dating back to 6000 BC, depicting a Greyhound- like canine assisting a hunter.
Greyhounds were the most valuable possession of the Egyptian Pharaohs, including Cleopatra and King Tutankhamen, and were often carved into the walls of the tombs of Pharaohs or mummified alongside their masters. In ancient Egypt, the birth of a Greyhound was often second in importance to the birth of a son. Entire families would mourn the passing of a Greyhound by shaving their heads, fasting, and weeping out loud.
The first mention of any canine breed in literature dates back around 800 BC. In Greek literature, a book called “The Odyssey”, told the story of a man named Odysseus, who left home for 20 years. When he arrived home, the only one who recognised him was his Greyhound, “Argus”, who was only a puppy when he left.
The Greyhound is the only canine breed to be mentioned in The Bible, Proverbs 30: 29-31.
During the Middle Ages, Greyhounds nearly became extinct, due to famine and disease. Fortunately, priests and clergymen took special care to protect the Greyhounds and later bred them for noblemen.
Around the year 900, the King of Wales ordered that the punishment for the killing of a Greyhound was the same for the killing of a human - death.
In the year 1014, King Canute enacted the Forest Laws, stating only persons of nobility were permitted to own a Greyhound.
Image (above): Supplied by Sobers. Elisabeth Espedal. Left: The Greyhounds 1897 John Emms oil painting.
Appearance
Greyhounds come in colours that range from white to black, from brindle (“tiger striped”) to blue (“grey”), from fawn to red and any combination of these colours.
Conformational differences occur between racing (track bred) Greyhounds and show bred (ANKC) Greyhounds. Show Greyhounds tend to be taller with longer necks, more angulation in the hind limbs and heavier boned.
Males weigh between 30 and 39 kilos, and females weigh between 23 and 30 kilos. Height at the shoulder is ideally: Dogs 71-76 cms (28-30 ins), Bitches 69-71 cms (27-28 ins). Greyhounds are very ‘small’ large dogs. They are almost cat-like in their ability to get into the smallest places and curl into the smallest ball.
Temperament
The modern-day Greyhound still retains all the attributes that made it so treasured throughout the centuries. Known for their gentleness, patience, and sensitivity, they have personalities that want to please their families and to bond deeply with them. They are one of the most loyal companions, and extremely intelligent.
Health
Although large dogs, Greyhounds can live for 12 to 14 years and truly grow old gracefully. Since they are athletes, they tend to be a healthy and robust breed. Greyhounds do not have many of the inherent health problems which some other large breeds experience – for example, hip dysplasia does not occur in racing Greyhounds. Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) is not uncommon in retired racing Greyhounds but rare in show lines.
Greyhounds have many physiological differences compared to other breeds. They are more muscular, have a very high percentage of fast twitch muscle fibres (an adaptation for sprinting exercise) and a larger heart. They have many haematological and biochemical differences – including increased red blood cell counts and creatinine levels, but lower white blood cell counts (particularly neutrophils), platelets and T4 levels. Greyhounds do not tolerate old style barbiturate anaesthetic agents but cope well with more modern drugs such as propofol.

SPOTLIGHT
Suitability
Greyhounds shed very little hair. A rubdown with a damp cloth or dog brush is usually sufficient. They are very clean and do not have a “doggy” odour, unlike most other canines. Greyhounds tend to be better tolerated by those with allergies.
Greyhounds should never be kept outside for extended periods. Due to their lack of body fat (less than 16%), very thin skin and fine hair coat, they do not adjust well to very hot or very cold weather.
When properly introduced and managed, some can live in harmony with other pets, such as smaller dog breeds, birds or cats.
Because they tend to take on the activity level of the household in which they live, Greyhounds may need as little as turn-outs in your fenced-in backyard, to a couple of daily walks. Basically, Greyhounds are “70 kph Couch Potatoes.”

New Research in Detection ‘Sniffer’ Dog Training could Increase Success Rate
Research undertaken by a team of animal behaviour experts at the University of Lincoln, UK, has revealed a game-changing approach to training sniffer dogs, which could revolutionise the field of dog detection. Widely used for a variety of detection tasks, detection dogs can scent the odour of volatile substances including explosive materials, drugs or wildlife, as well as certain diseases. Given this critical role in security and public welfare, the dogs’ reliable and accurate performance is essential.
Historically, detection dogs have been trained using a sequential, or single-odour-method, which involves training the dog to detect a target odour in isolation, with additional odours learned consecutively. While sequential training can be an effective means of learning individual odours, it may not be optimal for identifying target odours when mixed with other substances.
The study, conducted using odour detection methods with pet dogs at the University of Lincoln with support from the Defence Science Technology Laboratory, makes recommendations for trialling moving away from traditional sequential training methods which present a target odour alone until the dog has learned it before moving onto the next target.
The innovative ‘intermixed’ approach is where a detection dog is exposed to multiple different target odours within a single training session, giving the dog an opportunity to identify various scents concurrently, instead of one at a time in a sequential manner.
Anna Wilkinson, Professor of Animal Cognition, explained:
“This novel training approach made dogs better able to alert to slightly different versions of their target odour, something that is really important in working dogs who will come across lots of variation to the targets whilst working.” Findings from the study demonstrated higher rates of olfactory generalisation in the intermixed group, which would indicate greater success in real-world scenarios, where there might be multiple variants of odours present. This approach contrasts with traditional sequential training methods, which may limit a dog’s ability to adapt to new odour challenges. The research underscores that it may be beneficial to shift training practices to ensure that detection dogs can meet the evolving challenges they face in the field.
The study is published in the Journal of Comparative Psychology: and is available to read online: https://psycnet.apa.org/doi/10.1037/com0000390. - University of Lincoln, UK

2025
National OBEDIENCE, RALLY AND TRICK TRIALS
Over the weekend of the 26 and 27 April 2025, the DOGS NSW Obedience, Tracking and Performance Disciplines Committee held their National Obedience, Rally and Trick Dog Trials.
The Saturday began with a warm welcome to everyone by our Chairperson Pauline Hartwell, the opening of the proceedings by Mrs Lyn Brand, President of DOGS NSW, with the National Anthem sung by Kate Parry Rice-Blakk. The Judges from Victoria were: Mrs Kim Houlden and Mrs Lorna Piper
Queensland: Mrs Coral Pethers and Mrs Cynthia Fisher NSW: Mr Phill Evans, Mrs Tracey Knox, Mr Darryl Turley, Mrs Judy Turley, Mrs Loretta Rabbitt and Mr Patrick Connoley We extend our appreciation to them all.
Response from competitors was excellent: 554 entries, with many from Queensland, ACT, Victoria and Tasmania. Saturday was a perfect, sunny day and enjoyed by all. Sunday was a different story, with rain and damp grounds, but this did not deter the competitors. At one time the downpour was so heavy the Trial had to halt for a short time.
Over the two days there were many qualifications and Titles gained and, at the conclusion of the weekend, judging of the Winners of Winners by Mrs C Pethers - UDX to Novice and CCD by Mrs C Fisher. The Teams events were also a great success.
We thank Royal Canin and all the major sponsors for their wonderful support. We were also extremely grateful for the generous donations received from the Obedience Clubs and many individual people. Thanks also to the Stall Holders, who were in attendance to sell their interesting dog-related products and who added to the festivities.
A special thank you must go to our Chairperson Pauline Hartwell, who had the ambitious idea to hold this event, and to the Committee, all of whom worked and contributed in so many ways to make the two days successful. Thanks also to our DOGS NSW Representative Linda Dibben, Photographer Cynthia McDonall of VeroFojt Photography and Cataloguer Sharon Patterson. A special mention to the many wonderful Stewards who volunteered their time over the two days and who we could not have done without.
