Grand Blanc Community Fund Empowers Local Youth Through Arts Grant, Surpasses $1 Million in Grantmaking
The Grand Blanc Community Fund recently hit an exciting milestone — surpassing $1 million in grantmaking since 1989. This achievement reflects the Fund’s unwavering commitment to supporting initiatives that empower residents and enhance the well-being of the community. One of the key grants that helped the Fund reach this historic moment was awarded to Grand Blanc Youth Arts (GBYA), an organization dedicated to nurturing the creative potential of local youth.
With the support of the Grand Blanc Community Fund, GBYA is expanding its arts programming to offer six unique opportunities for children to explore music, visual arts, and performance. These programs, including the Katsi Marimba Band and the Grand Blanc Children’s Choir, provide a safe, welcoming space for kids to discover and share their artistic talents with the community. Through engaging instruction and public performances, young participants build confidence, express themselves, and develop a sense of belonging.
“Every grant is a testament to the power of partnership,” said Mark Miller, Interim President and CEO. “Our collaboration with Grand Blanc Youth Arts highlights how, together, we can invest in the future of our community

by creating spaces where children can thrive through creativity and connection.”
Since 1989, the Grand Blanc Community Fund has made over $1 million in grants.
The arts programs funded by the Grand Blanc Community Fund do more than teach artistic skills — they inspire young people to take pride in their work, collaborate with peers, and contribute to the cultural vibrancy of Grand Blanc. As GBYA continues to grow, so does the impact of the Fund’s commitment to ensuring that all children have access to opportunities that help them reach their full potential.
This grant to GBYA represents not only a milestone for the Grand Blanc Community Fund but also a celebration of what is possible when we invest in creativity, opportunity, and the future of our community.

Davison Community Fund
The Davison Fund awarded $1,250 to Davison High School to create an outdoor learning space that fosters a love for nature and hands-on education. Students and staff planted vibrant native plant and vegetable gardens that attract pollinators, supporting both the ecosystem and the garden’s growth. Art Teacher Ryan Kelsey and Science Teacher Pam Ruggiero use this space for Place-Based Learning, reaching nearly 1,800 students, many of whom may not have access to backyard gardens or fresh produce. During a recent visit, Davison Fund members heard from students and staff about the program’s positive impact and their plans to expand this educational opportunity district-wide.
