WELCOME TO AROUND THE GROUNDS Round 2 of Term 1 GSV Sport was a HUGE one!

It was fantastic to see all the JSS teams get their first matches in this week after the false start due to the heat last week!

JSS Sport has over 300 students, across 26 teams competing each Thursday afternoon! We have 2 softball teams, 9 tennis teams and a massive 16 Volleyball teams!

Well done to all students and coaches on their efforts over the first 2 rounds!

IMPORTANT REMINDERS: Uniform Requirements: It is compulsory to wear full and correct MLC uniform when competing in GSV. We are representing the school the entire time both when travelling and competing, and it is important that all students are proudly wearing their MLC uniform. You are required to wear your MLC Sports Uniform as seen in the pictures to the right. Please do not wear your coloured house tops.

Communication & Absences: If you are unable to make training or a match it is expected that you contact your coach as soon as possible to let them know.

Please do this directly through Microsoft Teams. Your team chat is the place to get the most up to date information that is specific to your team. Coaches will communicate, team selections, match venues and other relevant information through these chats.

It is important you do not spam or use these chats inappropriately.

PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK Each week we aim to give a shout out to a team or individual who deserves to be acknowledged. It can be for a wide variety of reasons; from a match winning serve or showing leadership or encouragement, to achieving your first ace or maybe even learning a set play!

If you have a nomination or see a teammate who deserves to be recognised be sure to tell your coach, or you can email me the details!

This weeks ‘Performance of the Week’ goes to all our amazing sports coaches!

Without the efforts of the coaches the GSV Interschool Sport program wouldn’t be able to run.

From facilitating trials sessions, working out the teams, planning and running the weekly trainings, team communications, supervision for travel and the actual coaching at matches; the role of the GSV Sports coach is full of responsibilities.

Our MLC coaches do it all with great pride, professionalism and make sure that above all else. all our students are having fun while being involved in team sport. Thanks coaches!

TERM 2 PLANNING While it feels like Term 1 has just got underway, planning has begun for Term 2!

Please have a think about which sport you will choose out of Netball, AFL and Hockey, when we open up the sign ups mid term!
