FLYING IN EUROPE: WHAT TO EXPECT
When you fly outside the U.S. with Flexjet, many things remain the same: When it comes to operations and service, we set the standard at exceptional. Whether it’s to reach a glamorous mountain resort such as St. Moritz, or Mediterranean islands like Sardinia or Mykonos, you are never far from a private runway in Europe. However, there are several industry-level differences worth knowing before you take off.
• In Europe, almost 200 airports have either full or partial slot restrictions compared to only four airports in the U.S.
• Slot allocation systems during busy periods may limit bookings at the exact requested time of your departure. In this scenario, we’ll suggest the closest available time or recommend an alternate airport.
• Smaller airports in Europe have limited capacity and infrastructure, which can reduce their ability to accommodate travel agendas.
• Air traffic congestion on the day of your flight can also cause unforeseen delays on occasion.

Additionally, it’s worth pointing out that moving across country borders can make your experience a little different on the ground.
• Passports are always required.
• In most cases your car for hire or rental car may not be brought onto the ramp to meet you at the aircraft steps. The private FBO or terminal staff will escort you to and from the building and assist with luggage.
• Certain airports require all passengers, including private jet passengers and their luggage, to go through security and customs checks. This will take place at the private FBO or terminal and you should plan to add ten minutes or so at either end of your flight.
