WELCOME TO AROUND THE GROUNDS Welcome to Term 2 GSV! GSV is BACK! Football (Australian Rules), Hockey and Netball are set to kick off from Monday 28th April.

At the end of last term we had a great turn out for all the trials sessions and our 41 teams are now all selected and ready to go!

We have the most teams out of all the GSV affiliated schools and we are super excited to see so many students get out there and compete.

MLC’s GSV Teams for Term 2 Football = 4 Senior Teams (9-12s) and 3 Junior teams Hockey = 2 Seniors, 2 Inters and 3 Junior teams Netball = 3 Seniors, 8 Inters and 16!! Junior teams

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

As we head into a fresh new term of GSV, we welcome both new and returning players. Each week I will post a few reminders so that everyone is aware of both GSV procedures and MLC expectations. Please remember that GSV is a full-term commitment to both training sessions and matches.

Training Sessions - These are planned and run each week by our amazing coaches, and it is expected that all students attend each session. We ask that students arrive on time and ready to go. Exact training details (day, time, venue) will be sent to students directly by their coach. After school trainings (AFL) require you to meet at the fountain by 3.35pm sharp.

Fixtures and Matches - This newsletter ‘Around the Grounds’ will have the most up to date fixture information each week. We encourage students to know their team name (eg. JSS Hockey MLCB) and check independently their fixture. When playing away, students are permitted to leave class at 2.50pm and are to promptly meet their coaches to catch their bus. If fixtured for a home game students are required to finish Period 6, then head to the PEC at 3.25pm.

Communication - It is super important that students inform coaches of any absence or illness as early as possible. You are expected by your coach and teammates to train & play each week. Any changes to training, transport or fixtures will be communicated directly to students via email or Microsoft teams chats.

FOOTBALL Lead Coaches - Seniors: Mr Murphy & Lily Goss, Juniors: Mr Jenkins Juniors - Training Wednesday afterschool, Matches Thursday afterschool Seniors - Training Tuesday afterschool, Matches Friday afterschool Uniform & Equipment - MLC Football Jumper, Black shorts & Black socks. If you need to purchase any of these items and have not yet filled in this form (link below), please do so ASAP. A cost of $50 will be allocated to your MLC account. Uniform items will be allocated by coaches prior to the first matches. https://forms.gle/eE5hnrUeLbyE3w4A6 If you already have a jumper from previous years that is no longer required, we ask that this is please returned to the Sports Office. All players must wear football boots and have a mouthguard for training and matches otherwise they will not be able to participate.

HOCKEY Lead Coaches - Seniors: Mr Wallis, Inters: Mr Nunn, Juniors: Ms Harding Juniors - Training Tuesday 7am, Matches Thursday afterschool Inters - Training Monday 7am, Matches Wednesday afterschool Seniors - Training Wednesday 7am, Matches Monday afterschool Uniform & Equipment - All players are required to wear their MLC Sports top and black bottoms. (skirt, shorts or skort). It is compulsory to wear a mouthguard and the MLC Hockey socks. Shin guards and hockey sticks MLC can provide however players are encouraged to bring their own if they prefer.

(skirt, shorts or skort). Please arrive for matches prepared to play. No jewellery, nails cut short, appropriate footwear and hair tied back.
