Honey Bees

Honey bees gather nectar and pollen from flowers.

They use nectar to make honey and beeswax.

They shape the wax into hollow tubes.

They keep their nest safe, strong, and dry.

Little Dancer Aged Fourteen

Degas built a sculpture of a young ballerina.

On a metal and wood frame, he used padding, wire, rope, clay, and beeswax to make the body.

Over time, Little Dancer’s arms and hands cracked, and the fabric tutu fell apart.

Copies of the sculpture are made of a metal called bronze.
