WELCOME CLUB UPDATES James Paige, PGA | General Manager
Happy September Club at Kingsmill Members, The past several months have been an exciting period of transition and momentum at Kingsmill. As I step into the General Manager role, one of my priorities is to continue building on the strong foundation that makes Kingsmill such a special place while finding new ways to elevate the Member experience. We have a lot to be excited about! Over the past six weeks, we have added new positions to our Maintenance & Engineering and Housekeeping teams, revamped our staff onboarding process, expanded leadership training, and reorganized our Executive Team to provide greater coverage and oversight. We will also be bringing back our Coffee and Club Conversation Meetings, inviting Members to join our leadership team for open and candid conversation and feedback. September brings a busy start to the fall season. Along with Labor Day Weekend activities across the property, golf enters one of its busiest months of the year. The cooler weather also makes it a great time for tennis, outdoor fitness classes, and time at the Marina. September programming includes kids crafts, trivia nights, live music, our September Member Mixer, Grandparents Day, a Murder Mystery Dinner, and Friday evening bagpiping at Eagles. We have also completed several capital projects in recent weeks, including new AC units at Eagles and all-new kitchen equipment at James Landing Grille. Work is nearing completion on the James River Grand Ballroom refresh and Marina fuel pump. Up next is a full restriping of our parking lots, with more project updates to share in the coming weeks. Happy September, Club at Kingsmill Members, As we move into September, several key enhancement projects across the property have been completed, all aimed at improving course aesthetics and daily playability. At the practice facility, the driving range tee has been fully re-leveled and sodded, with new drainage installed along the back-right portion to help eliminate moisture retention and provide a consistently firm, high-quality practice surface. Over on the Woods Course, the capital improvement project on hole #11 is officially complete. The fairway is fully open for play, and the surrounding native area has been stabilized, properly graded, and made significantly safer. The River, Plantation, and Woods Courses also recently received focused cultural maintenance, including solid-tine aeration, topdressing, and fertility applications to promote long-term turf health and provide strong course conditions heading into the fall. We also want to provide Members with an update regarding an irrigation issue on hole #2 of the Plantation Course. Due to low pressure within the hydraulic control line, a few sprinkler heads are currently failing to close automatically while the system is pressurized and in use. To minimize disruption to play, our team manually shuts the system down as soon as morning greens watering is complete. We are actively working on a permanent solution to restore proper hydraulic pressure and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause during your rounds. 2026 Kingsmill Men’s Member/Guest Invitational We are excited to announce that the 2026 Kingsmill Men’s Member/Guest Invitational is now open for registration. The Kingsmill Invitational brings together great competition, camaraderie, and an unforgettable weekend at Kingsmill. Participants will once again enjoy championship golf on the River and Woods Courses, along with a full schedule of social events and activities throughout the weekend. This year's invitational will feature many of the traditions that made the event so special, including our stag night kick off challenge, cigar and whiskey social, team welcome party, championship shootout, three days of open bar, and spouse dinner and dance. The competition has proven to be exciting from the opening round all the way through the final hole, with every team having an opportunity to make a run at becoming our next overall champions. Will Team USA continue the Presidents Cup win trend? The 2026 Presidents Cup will be held at the famed Medinah Country Club September 22-27. The Presidents Cup began in 1994, with a competition held at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Prince William County, Virginia, USA. Through the 25-plus-year journey, the world's best players have come together to compete for team, country and the honor of raising the Presidents Cup trophy. In 2024, the U.S. Team claimed its 10th straight Presidents Cup Sunday at Royal Montreal. The Americans took an 11-7 lead into Sunday, where each of the 12 players on both teams played Singles. Xander Schauffele scored the first point of the day for the U.S. Team with a 4-and-3 win over Jason Day. Keegan Bradley clinched the winning point for the U.S. with a 1-up victory on the 18th hole over Si Woo Kim. Team captains for the 2026 Presidents Cup are Brandt Snedeker (Team USA) and Geoff Ogilvy (International Team). The U.S. Team will be comprised of six (6) automatic qualifiers and six (6) Captain’s Picks, with the ranking determined through a weighted system based on FedEx Cup Points from January 1, 2025, through August 23, 2026. The six automatic qualifiers will be determined following the 2026 BMW Championship. The International Team will be comprised of six (6) automatic qualifiers and (6) Captain’s Picks, with the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) used to determine the former. The automatic qualifiers will be determined following the TOUR Championship. In my opinion, the U.S. Team will continue the win trend in the Presidents Cup and here is why. The quality and strength of the International Team is not as good as the U.S. Team statistically this year. Statistics are not everything in match play due to the volatile environment which influences players’ decisions in shot making although they can have an impact. There are several factors that influence wins and momentum in match play. The most important are greens in regulation proximity, scrambling percentage and birdies. Greens in regulation proximity is a thermometer for the moment. If a player hits it close, the opponent may take on a hole location they normally wouldn’t, especially in the singles matches. Scrambling percentage is a good indicator of a player being able to tie a hole when they have missed the green and diminish any momentum the opposing player may be able to create by winning a hole with a par. Birdies… nothing matches a hot putter in match play. The U.S. players lead many of those categories when matched against the International players head-tohead. Team pairings for the fourball, foursomes, and head-to-head on Sunday will be well thought out from both teams. Strategy, personality, and player statistics will certainly influence pairings and the Sunday line up. MEMBER SPOTLIGHT - MATT BLACK & ANNA KROUSE
About Anna and Matt Matt is from North Louisiana and Southern Mississippi, while Anna is from Philadelphia, PA. Matt moved to Williamsburg after attending Millsaps College, and Anna attended William & Mary for undergraduate and graduate school. We met at a karaoke bar and even had our own restaurant in downtown Williamsburg from 2015–2019. These days, we run an online retail business and are renovating the Old Chickahominy House property for a storefront featuring vintage music, books, collectibles, electronics, and a sneaky beer and wine shop in the cellar. We also have a “truly outrageous” cat named Jem and are expecting our first child in February! Why Anna and Matt became Members While we don’t live on property, we’ve been invited by our friend Sara Ruch to multiple social events in the past. We’re not the biggest golfers, but in learning about all the other Club amenities, restaurants, and events, we saw an incredible opportunity to find a community we could join and grow with. What is your favorite thing about Kingsmill? We both love the strong sense of community, as well as the various amenities only a 10-minute drive away. Having that secured before we welcome our child to Williamsburg gives us a lot of peace of mind. And the pools. And the dueling pianos. And the holiday buffets.
Favorite Menu Item Matt’s go-to order is the Southwestern Chicken on a Croissant at The Mill with an Iced Coffee; Anna’s is the Crab Dip at James Landing Grille. Favorite Vacation Spot While we’ve been visiting the Orlando theme parks frequently since our honeymoon, our favorite vacation destination is Scotland. Anna owed a pub in Edinburgh once upon a time, and we tend to visit during Fringe Festival for catching up with old friends and indulging in comedy, music, and other performing arts. We actually skipped Fringe this year in order to attend a Scottish wedding for a couple who met at Anna’s pub years ago! Fun Fact Matt recently began his sixth year on the Board of Directors for the Williamsburg Choral Guild and has also been performing and taking improv classes at Coalition Theater in Richmond. Anna traveled to Scandinavia with a dance company in high school, performing in Copenhagen, Stockholm, Göteborg, and Helsinki. PAGE 7

Introducing Chef Liz Hull “I’ve been cooking for 14 years—it’s really all I’ve ever known since my junior year of high school. I’ve found that a full table is when I’m most satisfied. Knowing everyone is enjoying something I had a part in creating makes all the work worth it. Most of my experience has been right here in Williamsburg. Blue Talon Bistro was my first kitchen and where I built a strong foundation. From there, I moved to The Trellis as a full-time baker, where I learned everything from making my own sourdough starters to creating the famous ‘Death by Chocolate’ cake from scratch. I spent a few years at the Williamsburg Lodge, where I gained experience working on a much larger commercial level. While there, I helped build a life-size gingerbread house for the main lobby and even had the memorable experience of serving dessert to President Trump’s immediate family during his first election year. Eventually, I ventured over to the savory side of cooking at Opus 9 Steakhouse and Schlesinger’s Steakhouse, where I became the lead seafood cook and fell in love with that side of the kitchen. Most recently, I spent three years as Head Chef at Williamsburg Golf Club, where I created menus, hosted five-course wine dinners and cooking demonstrations, and helped serve a growing Membership. I’m excited to bring that experience to The Club at Kingsmill and look forward to getting to know our Members and creating memorable dining experiences for you to enjoy.” Liz Hull, Eagles Chef

A new month brings plenty of ways to stay active, connect with fellow Members, and enjoy the start of fall at the Fitness Center. Here are a few highlights coming up this month:
Marina Parking: At no time should vehicles or carts be parked or left unattended in the Marina Launch area in a way that blocks traffic or interferes with watercraft launch and recovery. Brief pick-up and drop-off is permitted within reason. All vehicles must be parked in designated spaces across from the Marina Store and restaurant. Boat trailers must be parked in the designated trailer line in the main resort lot across from the Fitness Center. Transportation is available to and from the Marina.
Labor Day “TRY”athlon | Sunday, September 6 – Complete a 400-meter swim, 10-mile bike ride, and 2-mile run or walk in this fun, noncompetitive challenge. For safety and security reasons, they must remain locked at all times when no Marina attendants are present. All boaters and watercraft users must check in at the Marina Store before using the boat launch. If no attendant is present, please call ahead.
