From farm-fresh ‘hops and ale trails’ to hiking, biking, birdwatching, and beaches, Delta offers plenty for visitors and those lucky enough to call it home. Boasting the sunniest weather in the Lower Mainland and miles of scenic waterfront trails and parkland, it's a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, blending small-town charm with urban conveniences.
Stroll down our welcoming main streets, where local businesses offer smiles and friendly service — whether you're browsing for a book or a unique gift, admiring works by local artists and artisans, or indulging in farm-to-table delights at restaurants, pubs, and craft breweries.
Bordered by the Fraser River to the north, the Pacific Ocean to the west, and rich, fertile farmland, Delta has been shaped by its deep-rooted history of farming and fishing. The Tsawwassen First Nation, the area's original inhabitants, take their name from a Salish word, Hən q əmin əm , meaning "Land facing the sea."

Today, discover North Delta’s thriving international dining scene along 120th Street, plus two standout natural attractions: Watershed Park and Burns Bog, North America's largest domed peat bog. The North Delta Farmer’s Market will return for the first time since 2020.
Head south to Ladner and Tsawwassen for an abundance of farm-influenced dining options, a growing agritourism scene, peaceful dyke trails, and beautiful beaches. The popular Tsawwassen Mills shopping destination and Big Splash Water Park are on Tsawwassen First Nation land, off Highway 17. It's also home to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal and the bustling Roberts Bank port, making the area a key transportation and distribution hub for the region.
Whether you're searching for unique shopping, outdoor adventure, a farm-to-table dining experience, or an award-winning craft brew, Delta has something for everyone. See why it's the perfect place to live, work, and play.

10Things To Do inDelta
01 BURNS BOG — A NORTH AMERICAN ECO-TREASURE
Burns Bog, a protected nature conservancy, is often called the lungs of B.C.’s Lower Mainland. As the largest raised peat bog on the west coast of the Americas—spanning an area eight times the size of Vancouver’s Stanley Park—it’s a hidden gem worth exploring, whether you’re a visitor or a local seeing it for the first time.
Roughly 5 km of raised boardwalks and trails take you through diverse landscapes, from dense forests to open meadows, making it ideal for self-guided walks. A crucial stop along the Pacific Flyway, the bog supports hundreds of bird species and endangered wildlife year-round.
Public tours run Saturdays from April to October—book yours at burnsbog
02 TAKE A FARM-FRESH TOUR
Cross over Westham Island’s 100-year-old wooden swing bridge, and you’ll feel like you’ve entered a simpler time (and you have). The island’s fertile farmlands produce a bounty of seasonal delights, from summer berries and fall pumpkins to potatoes, greens, and garlic.
As the weather warms, farm stands open fulltime, and u-pick fields welcome visitors eager to fill their baskets. Beyond fresh produce, you’ll find honey, eggs, jam, seedlings, seafood, meat, and beautiful flower bouquets. Check the Farm Stand section of this guide for locations and plan your perfect farm-to-table experience.

04 PICNIC IN DEAS ISLAND PARK
03 CYCLE THE TRAILS OF WATERSHED PARK
Delta’s largest park features 11 km of scenic cycling and walking trails that weave through shaded forests and open meadows. Trails vary in difficulty, from wide, flat gravel paths to gentle slopes.
Mountain bikers can tackle singletrack trails with ladder and log obstacles, while those seeking a leisurely ride will find miles of easy cycling. Pack a lunch for a picnic in the meadow, which offers a stunning lookout over Mud Bay. Afterward, hop in the car and head east to 120th Street to taste North Delta’s vibrant international dining scene. Download a Watershed Park trail map at delta.ca.
05 TAKE A PLANT
LOVER’S TOUR

Deas Island Regional Park is perfect for picnics, paddling, and enjoying scenic Fraser River and Deas Slough views. It features numerous picnic tables, a 4.7 km easy walking trail looping around the island, and a dock by the Rowing Club for paddlers to launch. (Deas Island Slough alternates between waterskiers and paddlers—check metrovancouver. org for the schedule.) No lunch packed? A short drive or bike ride takes you to Four Winds Brewing, Barnside Brewing, the RiverHouse Pub, or Cascades Casino

Thanks to Delta’s sunny days and mild climate, nurseries and gardens thrive. Tsawwassen enjoys three days of sunshine for every one in Vancouver. Plant lovers can start their garden tour at the Earthwise demonstration gardens in Tsawwassen’s Southlands, then wander through a local gem, the Secret Garden, tucked off 67A St and 4th Ave.
Next, stop by Sunnyside Nurseries before visiting the West Coast Seeds organic farm and trial garden on 34B Ave. Once you’ve gathered everything to bring your gardening dreams to life, head up Ladner Trunk Rd. to Harris Nurseryland and Vandula Farms.
In North Delta, the Cougar Creek Streamkeepers have spent nearly two decades developing rain gardens to manage stormwater runoff. You can explore mapped locations or find DIY instructions at cougarcreekstreamkeepers.ca.

06 CENTENNIAL
BEACH: SUN, SAND AND SUMMER FUN
In summer, Centennial Beach in Tsawwassen is a favourite destination for sun lovers. Warm tidal flats invite skimboarders and explorers when the tide retreats, while high tide draws swimmers and paddlers.
Want to get on the water? South Delta Water Sports offers inflatable kayak and paddleboard rentals delivered right to the beach (southdeltawatersports.com)
A network of trails, beach volleyball and tennis courts, and a children’s playground provide plenty to do—or simply relax in the sand.
Two shelters with a maximum capacity of 75 are available for small family reunions, company events, or get-togethers. Metrovancouver.org allows for booking up to a year in advance.
Parking fills up quickly during peak summer hours. If biking isn’t an option, consider arriving early or carpooling to save space for another visitor.
07 PEDAL TO PINTS ON THE DELTA ALE TRAIL
South Delta locals are fortunate to have two craft breweries—Barnside Brewing (barnsidebrewing.ca) and Four Winds Brewing (fourwindsbrewing.ca)—just a short ride from two scenic bike trails: the Millennium Trail in Ladner and the Boundary Bay Dyke Trail in Tsawwassen. It’s a fun and responsible way to enjoy a flight on a sunny day. Cyclists can begin in Ladner Village or Tsawwassen Southlands and meander along quiet roads and dyke trails to their destination. Download a map of Delta’s cycling routes at delta.ca.

08 A BIKE ADVENTURE IN BOUNDARY BAY
Boundary Bay is a vital stopover for thousands of birds along the Pacific Flyway, and the regional park near Centennial Beach features scenic trails where you can spot eagles, hawks, owls, herons, and shorebirds year-round.
For a family-friendly biking adventure, the Boundary Bay Dyke Trail offers wide,

traffic-free paths. Stretching 34 km (return) from 17A Ave in Tsawwassen to Mud Bay, it has multiple access points and parking areas.
If you start at the beach, a short road leads to the trailhead—perfect for a quick coffee stop. Adventurous cyclists can detour along local back roads for breakfast at Kings Links Golf Course or discover a family-friendly finish with a sweet treat at Beach Grove Cafe. Download a map of Delta’s cycling routes at delta.ca.

09 SPEND THE DAY AT SOUTHLANDS: FARM FRESH FINDS AND MORE
Tsawwassen’s newest community blends urban charm with agriculture. Starting in June, Market Square will host a farmers’ market and yearround events, classes, and craft markets—check the schedule at southlandsgrange.ca. From May to November, you can experience everything from live music to garden demonstrations, seed swaps, and even a hot sauce showcase!
Designed for walkability, the area is perfect for a leisurely stroll or people-watching. Grab a coffee and pastry to enjoy at nearby Centennial Beach, or simply relax. Looking for some local flavour in craft beer and delicious fare? Four Winds opened their restaurant and craft brewery on-site last year, making it an even better place to spend the day.

10 SHOP AND STROLL IN LADNER VILLAGE
Start your visit to Ladner Village with a leisurely stroll along the harbourfront, before heading up Delta St. for gifts, art, thrift shop treasures, restaurants, and more. Beginning in June, one of Western Canada’s largest open-air markets, the Ladner Village Market (ladnervillagemarket.com), kicks off its season. With over 160 vendors, you could easily spend an entire Sunday exploring its offerings.
Do you fancy a nature walk and want a peaceful way to spend some time outdoors? For a quieter escape, visit Canoe Pass (formerly Brunswick Point). This scenic 11 km (return) gravel path winds along the shoreline through salt marshes and farmland, making it a top spot for birdwatchers, cyclists, and hikers. Keep your eyes open and your camera ready for eagles, herons and waterfowl.

DELTA EXPLORING
A Tapestry of Communities and Heritage
The City of Delta, British Columbia, comprises three distinct communities: Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta.
The Tsawwassen First Nation were the original inhabitants, with archaeological evidence dating their presence back to approximately 2260 BC. Today, this land is a self-governing body within the Metro Vancouver Regional District, overseeing 724 hectares (1,800 acres) on South Delta's western edge. This land hosts two bustling shopping malls and the Big Splash Water Slide Park
TSAWWASSEN
With a beachside culture tracing back to the 1890s, Tsawwassen has long attracted visitors to Boundary Bay's warm, shallow waters. Boasting more sunshine than Vancouver, its beaches and oceanfront dyke trails are ideal for family outings. After biking or hiking, local cafés, restaurants, and boutiques provide inviting spots to unwind.

LADNER
Established in the 1800s as a farming and fishing hub, Ladner maintains its small-town allure with a charming village center, friendly community, and fishing vessels docked in the harbour. Encircled by fertile farmland, it appeals to culinary enthusiasts and craft beer aficionados eager to explore roadside farm stands, farmers' markets, and its two local breweries.
NORTH DELTA
Geographically closer to Surrey, North Delta shares in Delta's rich farming and fishing heritage, with many historical sites reflecting its early canning industry roots. Home to Watershed Park and Burns Bog — the largest raised peat bog in North America — it attracts hikers and cyclists. Additionally, 120th Street offers diverse South Asian and international dining options.

LIKE A LOCAL EXPLORE

Deltans love getting out to appreciate the beaches, trails, bog and dykes that abound across their community. Some insider tips to make your trip more enjoyable, and preserve the abundance of natural beauty and outdoor space.
• Park and Ride (Your Bike!) Many of Delta’s outdoor attractions experience high traffic during peak months. Exploring on two wheels is a great way to slow down, enjoy the scenery and avoid the congestion. Check the City of Delta website for up-to-date cycling route information.
• Be Fire Smart BBQ-ing is a popular pastime at many Delta parks during the summer months. Always follow park guidelines and dispose of charcoal responsibly.
• Plan Ahead Celebrating a large gathering? Reserve a picnic shelter at Boundary Bay Park or Deas Island.
• Be Respectful Abide by parking restrictions, keep furry friends leashed except in designated off-leash areas and dispose of waste appropriately.
• Farmers First Many of the dyke trails are used by Delta farmers, who have the right of way. Yield to farm traffic when sharing the dyke.
• Support Local Be sure to support the many locally owned businesses during your trip.

EXPLORE
SCENIC BIKING & HIKING TRAILS
With a mild climate year-round and gentle terrain, Delta is perfect for biking and hiking at all skill levels. Families love the traffic-free dyke trails, road cyclists enjoy the quiet back roads, and mountain bikers and hikers head to Watershed Park for more of a challenge.
Here are three popular trails—find more in the Birding section of this guide. Download trail maps and cycling routes at delta.ca.
SOUTHLANDS DRIVE TO CENTENNIAL BEACH & BOUNDARY BAY DYKE TRAIL
Starting at Southlands Drive (56th St & 4th Ave in Tsawwassen), this scenic 20+ km route stretches from upper Tsawwassen to Mud Bay Park. Grab a coffee before heading out along the flat, oceanfront gravel trails, with just a slight incline into the Southlands. Respect farm machinery, as you’re in an active farming zone, but keep your camera ready for eagles, snowy owls, herons and migrating birds.
FERRY ROAD TO THE MILLENNIUM TRAIL & DEAS ISLAND PARK Park in Ladner Village and take a scenic ride or walk along River Road past the salt marshes. Head north on Ferry Road to the river, then join the Millennium Trail, which runs along the waterfront, under Highway 99, and into Deas Island Park—a perfect spot for a picnic by the Fraser River.
WATERSHED PARK
– NORTH DELTA’S
FORESTED RETREAT With 11 km of forested trails, this park offers flat, easy walks and cycling, along with challenging hillside trails for mountain bikers. Access the park from three locations: two on Kittson Parkway and one on Highway 10 (between Highway 99 & 120th St).
WESTHAM ISLAND If you love birds, nature, and peaceful country roads, then a bike ride to Westham Island is a must! This hidden gem is a cycling paradise, offering breathtaking views, fresh farm stands, and incredible birdwatching along the way.
Start from Ladner for an 18km round-trip ride, or if you prefer a shorter, low-traffic
route, begin at Westham Island Bridge for a 10km adventure. Either way, you’ll pedal past seasonal farm stands, a local winery, and stunning marshland landscapes.
Your ultimate stop? The Reifel Bird Sanctuary—a birdwatcher’s paradise where you can walk the trails, spot ducks, geese, and migratory birds, and enjoy the peaceful natural surroundings. Don’t forget to bring a bike lock and binoculars to enjoy the experience fully!
Whether cycling for the views, the fresh air, or the wildlife, Westham Island is the perfect escape for a relaxing and beautiful ride.
PORT GUICHON As you bike towards Westham Island, you’ll come to a little stretch of a river community. If you’re ever been to Louisiana’s backcountry, when you see Port Guichon, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported there again. This historic place is formerly the site of the commercial and port installations of Laurent Guichon. Today, it is part of the dike of the neighbourhood that still bears the name. The house on the property remains the residence of one of Guichon’s descendants.
This place is valued for its association with Joseph Guichon, from Chambéry, France and his family. The Guichon family played a significant role in developing the cattle farming industry in B.C. The family is also linked to a historic hotel in New Westminster and other businesses and part of early economic development in British Columbia.
