WELCOME TO AROUND THE GROUNDS A huge well done to the Seniors and Inters who started their GSV campaigns this last week!

All students represented MLC proudly, with great respect to the opposition schools and most importantly they had fun!

Unfortunately, a predicted forecast top of 37 degrees at 4pm saw all our Junior matches cancelled by the GSV on Thursday.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS: What happens to GSV when there is adverse weather?

Majority of GSV training and matches are undertaken outdoors. With that, we are exposed to all weather conditions that Melbourne can throw at us.

Extreme Heat - The GSV Policy states: if the predicted temperature is above 40deg, GSV will cancel all sport and notify schools by 3pm. On the day of; if the predicted temperature at 4pm is over 36deg all sport will be cancelled and schools notified by 9am. Finally, if during competition the ambient temperature reaches 36deg play will pause, and if it does not drop below 36deg in the subsequent 30mins competition will be cancelled.

Wet Weather - On the day of competition at 1.30pm a decision will be made between schools to cancel. If prior to/during a match, the safety of students becomes compromised matches can be cancelled. If there is lightning and thunder with a time delay of less than 30secs all play is to stop immediately and cover sought. Play can only recommence if there is no lightning for 30mins.

For all outdoor MLC training at Xavier College, the MLC Head of Interschool Sport will cancel if the evening forecast predicts heavy rain at 7am. Communication will be sent by 6.30pm on the night prior. If light rain or drizzle is expected, training will still take place. Please remember to pack a towel and a change of clothes on such days.

PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK Each week we aim to give a shout out to a team or individual who deserves to be acknowledged. It can be for a wide variety of reasons; from a match winning serve or showing leadership or encouragement, to achieving your first ace or maybe even learning a set play!

This weeks ‘Performance of the Week’ goes to our MS Volleyball Team Grace.

After losing the first set 12-25, then went on to win the second set convincingly to line up a very important third set! They were down by 12 at the beginning and it looked like they were going to be beaten by a better team. But then.... they showed great team connection, energy and grit that saw them fight back and win the third set 28-26 and win them the game!!

Also a shout out to the three students who represented MLC at the GSV Golf Event on Tuesday.
