Fireweed Pollination
Soon after Mount St. Helens erupted, fireweed plants grew back in the area.
The eruption created open spaces, and fireweed flowers bloomed in the sunlight. Pollinators moved pollen from flower to flower.
Soon, fireweed seeds traveled on bits of fluff.

Saguaro and Bat Interaction
A lesser long-nosed bat notices the sweet smell of saguaro flowers.
With its long tongue, the bat sips nectar deep within the flowers.
Pollinated saguaro flowers form juicy red fruits.
Bats eat the fruits—seeds and all—and fly away.
