Fifty Years Before the First Cut

WHERE A PRADO PIECE BEGINS

A Prado table does not begin in a workshop. It begins with a tree, planted and tended for half a century by hands we will never meet, in a forest owned by no one and kept by everyone.

This is the journey of the wood behind our outdoor furniture, from the state forests of Randublatung, Central Java, to the hands that shape it.

Origin In the regency of Blora, Central Java, teak has been grown under state forestry management for generations. It is not harvested. It is cultivated.

THE FOREST

Randublatung, Under Perhutani Our wood is sourced from the Randublatung Forest Management Unit (KPH Randublatung), one of the teak-producing districts overseen by Perum Perhutani, the Indonesian state-owned corporation responsible for managing forests across Java.

The species is jati, known botanically as Tectona grandis, or teak, planted in managed rotations on government-controlled land. Nothing here is wild-cut. Every tree standing in these plantations was planted with a felling date already in mind, decades away.

It is a slow form of agriculture: a forest planted for a generation that has not yet been born to build with it.

Selection & Legality Fifty years of growth is only worth something if it can be proven. Every log that leaves Randublatung carries its record with it.

C H A I N O F C U S TO DY

Marked, Tagged, Verified At the TPK, Perhutani's log yard, each felled trunk is measured, numbered, and marked in paint before it moves an inch further.

A yellow SVLK tag, issued by Indonesia's Ministry of Forestry, is fixed to every log.

Its QR code and serial number trace the wood back to its stand of origin, proof of legal harvest under the country's timber legality verification system.

Only logs carrying this record are cleared for purchase. It is how we know, and how we can show, exactly where our wood came from.

Craft Only once a log is verified does the work of building begin. It is measured, milled, and joined by hand.

From Log to Joint Verified logs are milled into boards, measured and marked by hand before a single cut is made. The grain is read and worked with, not against.

Each frame is joined and shaped by our craftsmen, turning fifty years of growth into a piece meant to outlast the people who made it.
