Round 4, done! Round 5 is upon us! This takes us to half way through the season already.
Each week the teams are building on the week before and it is fantastic to see! We have had some great feedback from our GSV coaches as to how much some players and teams have developed already!
Turning up and putting in each week at both training and your GSV matches is helping you to increase your sports skills, body awareness and teamwork skills All of which are important skills for being healthy and active for life!
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
GSV THURSDAY 5 - All JSS Matches are ON! - As it is only MLC who have a scheduled day without classes, all GSV matches fixtured for Thursday 5 March are still on. All JSS students are expected to come to school and play. You will either be travelling by bus to an away venue or playing matches at MLC as normal. Please ensure that you check the fixture summary closely to note what time you are required to arrive at MLC for your specific sport/team. Carefully check your teams messages for further directions from your coach or please ask if you are unsure. th th
Venue Pick up procedure - If students are being picked up from away venues, it is important that the communication comes from the parent/guardian and also that the parent/guardian is sighted by the coach prior to the student departing All coaches have a duty of care and are not permitted to just let students leave unsupervised.
Communication with your Coaches/ Attendance tracking - It is essential to inform your coach if you are unable to attend training or matches due to illness or injury. A quick message via Teams will let them know you won't be there, so that any absences can me marked as explained. If you arrive late at all, please check with your coach to get your name marked off. There have been a few instances recently where an automated absence email has been sent home when a student was indeed at training but missed being attendance tracked.
Weekly Match Details - We strive to share all match details as accurately and promptly as possible. Two platforms will be used for communication, so please check these weekly. A fixture summary will be included in this newsletter every week, detailing the opponent, venue, departure time from MLC, and an estimated time for pickup back at MLC (both match duration and traffic may affect this estimation). Additionally, your coach will provide more specific information, including selected teams, emergencies, and meeting times in the teams chat, as this varies for each sport and team.
MLC GSV NEWS
Last Sunday morning we had close to 50 students compete in the GSV Triathlon at Altona Beach.
All students representing MLC gave their best and had a great time!
Our students competed with great sportsmanship and supported one another, both in the individual and team events, embodying the team spirit MLC is known for.
Thank you to all the coaches, especially Head Athletics & Cross Country Coach Kate Richardson, and also to the parents who made this event possible.
