WELCOME TO AROUND THE GROUNDS TERM 1 2026 As we head into Round 4 it is exciting to see so many MLC GSV teams in action each week.

Many teams are making their way to the top half of the ladders already and its looking like we will again be well represented in the finals.

It is worth making note NOW that finals will be: INTERS - Wednesday 25th March JUNIORS - Thursday 26th March SENIORS - Monday 30th March Remember these are normally at least a half day event, not just P6, so plan ahead for any class/work clashes.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS: Communication with your Coaches - It is essential to inform your coach if you are unable to attend training or matches due to illness or injury. A quick message via Teams will let them know you won't be there, which is particularly crucial on match days. Students who fail to communicate their absence can cause delays for the entire group and leave the team shorthanded. Just last week, we had to forfeit matches because some expected players did not show up. Additionally, there are students who could fill in for absent players if they had been informed of the situation.

Weekly Match Details - We strive to share all match details as accurately and promptly as possible. Two platforms will be used for communication, so please check these weekly. A fixture summary will be included in this newsletter every week, detailing the opponent, venue, departure time from MLC, and an estimated time for pickup back at MLC (both match duration and traffic may affect this estimation). Additionally, your coach will provide more specific information, including selected teams, emergencies, and meeting times in the teams chat, as this varies for each sport and team.

Training Drop off safety (Second reminder) When arriving at 7am for training sessions please note the following: MLC - Volleyball- Ensure all road safety rules are being followed, only stop and exit vehicles in safe, designated stopping areas. Consider a slightly further drop off point and walking an extra block where possible.

XAVIER COLLEGE - Tennis and Softball - When dropping your child off for morning sport training, please DO NOT STOP in the driveway entering from Barker's road, or in the driveway into the Chapel Oval Carpark. Please drive all the way down the drop off zone, or park in either carpark please. This will reduce congestion at peak times and the backlog of cars extending to Barkers Road. (Note this also applies on MLC Run Club mornings with Coach Kate)

MLC GSV NEWS Recently we had 4 students represent MLC at the GSV Golf event.

Congratulations to: Charmaine H Amara G Georgia T Masie K All played fantastically well and had a great day out at The Metropolitan Golf Club.

A special mention to year 10 Charmaine who was Runner Up in her section.
