Greetings from WestCare Nevada, Welcome to the June edition of The Loop.

This month, we are proud to celebrate the arrival of baby boy Legend in our Staff Spotlight and congratulate his mother, Krystal, a valued member of our team who serves as a Billing Specialist. We also highlight a special Father’s Day celebration at Harris Springs Ranch, hosted by program staff in partnership with our Connections Fatherhood Program, honoring fathers and the important role they play in building healthy families.

As we recognize Juneteenth and Men’s Mental Health Month, we are reminded of the importance of equity, healing, open conversations, and ensuring that every individual has access to the support and resources needed to thrive.

We hope you enjoy this month’s stories and join us in celebrating the people and partnerships that continue to move the WestCare mission forward.

Our June issue also recognizes the generosity of the Las Vegas Rotary Club, whose members collected gently used suits and other professional clothing to support WestCare clients as they prepare for employment and new opportunities. In addition, we celebrate our ongoing partnership with the Spiritual Alumni Fellowship and the PACT Coalition, working together to promote connection, recovery, wellness, and community engagement.

The WestCare Nevada family is celebrating a wonderful new arrival! We are thrilled to congratulate our Billing team member, Krystal, on the birth of her son, Legend.

Harris Springs Ranch would like to sincerely thank the Connections Fatherhood program for taking the time to visit and host a meaningful Father's Day event for our clients. Their generosity and dedication created a welcoming environment where participants could come together, enjoy sober fun, and strengthen connections with one another.

Legend arrived weighing 6 pounds, 13 ounces, and measuring 20 inches long. We are happy to share that both mom and baby are doing well as they begin this exciting new chapter together. We hope they are enjoying this special time filled with love, joy, and unforgettable first moments.

Please join us in sending our warmest congratulations and best wishes to Krystal and her family. We are so excited to celebrate this milestone with her and look forward to meeting our newest honorary member of the WestCare family.

Welcome to the world, Legend!

Throughout the event, clients enjoyed singing karaoke, reading poetry centered on recovery and fatherhood, and sharing their personal experiences in a supportive setting. Everyone also enjoyed nachos, sodas, and the opportunity to spend time together in the fresh mountain air. The event encouraged fellowship, positive self-expression, and mutual encouragement, helping to build a stronger sense of community among those on their recovery journey.

While many clients were unable to spend Father's Day with their children, the day served as a meaningful reminder of what they are working toward.

They remain committed to making the positive changes necessary to be present, involved, and supportive fathers in their children's lives moving forward.

Experiences like these reinforce the importance of connection, hope, and community in the recovery process. Harris Springs Ranch is grateful to the Connections Fatherhood program for investing in our clients and for their ongoing commitment to supporting individuals and families through recovery.

For the third consecutive year, the Las Vegas Rotary Club and WestCare Nevada came together for the annual Rotary Suit Drive. Over three consecutive Thursday luncheon meetings at Lawry's, Rotarians donated suits, dresses, jackets, shoes, ties, and other professional attire. Piece by piece, hanger by hanger, the collection grew into something much greater than clothing.

The WestCare Spiritual Aftercare Fellowship continues to equip participants with opportunities to grow as leaders through its Spiritual AF Training luncheons, offered in partnership with PACT Coalition.

These donations will benefit residents at Harris Springs Ranch and the Women and Children's Campus, where every individual is working toward a new beginning.

These clothes will be worn to a job interview that could change the direction of a life. Others will wear them to a court appearance, an important meeting, or a long-awaited visit with family. More than clothing, these donations represent confidence, dignity, and opportunity. Sometimes, a fresh start begins with something as simple as putting on a suit. When people feel good about themselves, they stand a little taller, walk into a room with renewed confidence, and begin to believe that tomorrow can be different than yesterday.

This tradition would not be possible without the leadership and generosity of Toni Kern, Rosalee Hedrick, Past President Janice Lencke, Shawn Norda, and every Rotarian who contributed to this year's drive. Their continued partnership reflects the belief that recovery and healing happen when communities come together around a shared purpose. More than donating clothing, they are investing in people and reminding our clients that they are not defined by where they have been, but by where they are going.

Most recently, participants attended Group Facilitator Trainings focused on navigating The Life Recovery Bible and Workbook and the We Are Spiritual: Spirit 1st Recovery Support Group. The training provided practical guidance on facilitating meaningful discussions and supporting participants in a faith-centered recovery environment.

Those who completed the training received a twohour training certificate and gained the opportunity to serve as group facilitators within WestCare's Spiritual Care Chaplain Programs. These trained facilitators help lead Tier 2 residential treatment, spiritual and faith-based community groups and services, supporting individuals on their recovery journey while strengthening WestCare's peer-led recovery community. The Spiritual Aftercare Fellowship continues to provide meaningful opportunities for participants to strengthen their leadership skills while giving back to others in recovery.

Juneteenth

By Kaitlyn Hawkins, Marketing Specialist Each year on June 19, communities across the United States observe Juneteenth, a federal holiday commemorating the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

Juneteenth is a time to reflect on our nation's history while recognizing the importance of freedom, resilience, and opportunity.

Across the country, the day is observed through community gatherings, educational events, cultural celebrations, and opportunities to learn more about the people and moments that have shaped our shared history.

At WestCare Nevada, we remain committed to fostering a culture of respect, compassion, and service for the individuals, families, and communities we serve. We recognize Juneteenth as an opportunity to reflect on the values that bring people together and to continue supporting those on their journey toward hope, healing, and brighter futures.

Men’s Mental Health Month

June is Men’s Mental Health Month, a time to raise awareness about the importance of emotional well-being for men to reduce the stigma that often prevents them from seeking help.

Many men face pressure to appear strong or self-reliant, which can make it harder to talk about stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma.

When these challenges go unaddressed, they can grow over time and impact relationships, work, and overall health.

We continue to support men across the state through trauma-informed, compassionate care that meets people where they are. Services in behavioral health, substance use treatment, and community support are designed to create safe spaces for healing and recovery.

This month is a reminder that asking for help is a sign of strength. Open conversations, early support, and connection to care can make a real difference.

Let’s continue working together to support the men in our communities, not just in June, but all year long.
