Aloha Mai Kākou,

It is with a very grateful heart that I welcome you to our Hōʻike as we celebrate 28 years’ of Hālau Hula Lani Ola. As I reflect on these past 28 years, I am reminded that a hālau does not grow and flourish because of one person. It takes an entire community of people who give their time, their talents, their support, and most importantly, their aloha. I am incredibly grateful for the many hands and hearts that continue to support our Hālau and make evenings like tonight possible. Through all the years of growth and change, we have remained committed to honoring the hula lineage passed down to me by my mother, Master Kumu Hula Puanani Alama, and my aunt, Master Kumu Hula Leilani Alama. Their teachings are the foundation of Hālau Hula Lani Ola, and it is both my responsibility and my greatest privilege to continue their legacy and pass those teachings on to the generations that follow.

Kukui o`alama i ola a mau loa. May the torch of protection live evermore.

To my haumāna and our hula ʻohana, thank you for your dedication, your trust, and the pride you take in representing our Hālau. To our families, friends, and everyone who continues to stand behind us, please know how deeply your support is appreciated. Our community could not exist without you. Twenty-eight years later, I remain humbled by what Hālau Hula Lani Ola has become, and I am deeply grateful for every person who has been a part of its journey. It is with great pride and aloha that I share our hula with you tonight. Mahalo nui loa for your continued love and support. Me Ka Pōmaikaʻi,
