EN STANDARDS AND EXPLANATIONS OF SYMBOLS

EN ISO 20471:2013

HIGH VISIBILITY CLOTHING.

• Clothing visibility protection class, classes 1–3 (highest class 3) according to the areas of fluorescent background material and reflectors: see Table.

EN ISO 11611:2015

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING FOR USE IN WELDING AND ALLIED PROCESSES.

Protection classes 1-2

• Class 1: Protects when using less dangerous welding methods and in situations involving fewer welding sparks and less radiant heat. Protection against small spatters of molten metal

• (welding sparks) is at least 15 droplets. Protection against radiant heat RHTI (24°C) ≥ 7 seconds.

• Protective clothing certified according to EN ISO 20471:2013 is designed and manufactured to improve the visibility of the wearer in daylight and when illuminated by an external light source in dark conditions.

• The clothing is intended to protect the wearer from the risks that would arise if the wearer were not clearly visible from all angles when working, such as in traffic and on construction sites.

EN 1150:1999

VISIBILITY CLOTHING FOR NON-PROFESSIONAL USE.

• Protective clothing certified to EN 1150:1999 is designed and manufactured to improve the visibility of the wearer in all daylight conditions and when illuminated by vehicle lights or search lights on dark and illuminated streets.

• The clothing is intended to protect the wearer from the risks that would arise if the wearer’s presence were not clearly visible from all directions, such as in traffic and during leisure activities.

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. ENHANCED VISIBILITY

EQUIPMENT FOR MEDIUM RISK SITUATIONS.

• Type A (sun symbol): visibility in daylight (fluorescent material only)

• Type B (moon symbol): visibility in dark (retroreflective material only)

B1 free hanging retroreflective devices

B2 retroreflective devices (reflectors and garments) on limbs only

B3 retroreflective material placed on torso or torso and limbs

• Type AB (sun and moon symbol): AB2 and AB3 visibility in daylight and dark conditions

EN 343:2003 + A1:2007

PROTECTION AGAINST RAIN.

• Upper figure: water penetration resistance, classes 1–3 (highest class 3): tells you how well the garment holds rain.

• Water column 13,000 mm means that the fabric can withstand the pressure of a water column 13,000 mm high, i.e. a pressure of about 13,000 Pascal, without permeating water (minimum requirement for waterproofing class 3).

• Lower figure: water vapour resistance, classes 1–3 (highest class 3): indicates how well moisture is transferred from the inside of the jacket to the outside, i.e. how breathable the garment is.

PROTECTION AGAINST RAIN.

• A Flame spread, A1 or A2 or A1+A2 (A1= surface ignition, A2= edge ignition, A1+A2 = both)

• B Exposure to flame, levels B1–B3 (highest lvl 3)

• C Exposure to radiant heat, levels C1–C4 (highest lvl 4)

• D Resistance to molten aluminium splash, levels D1–D3 (highest lvl 3)

• E Resistance to molten iron splash, levels E1–E3 (highest lvl 3)

• F Contact heat resistance, levels F1–F3 (highest lvl 3)

• The garment must always meet Code A1 and at least one of the Codes B to F.

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AGAINST THE THERMAL HAZARDS OF AN ELECTRIC ARC.

Protection classes

• Class 1, APC = 1: Tested with an arc of 4kA (168kJ)

• Class 2, APC = 2: Tested with an arc of 7kA (320kJ)

• In the arc test, the afterflame time of the material must not exceed 2 seconds, the material must not melt onto the skin or have holes larger than 5 mm. Do not wear clothes, such as shirts, underwear or undergarments, made of polyamide, polyester or acrylic fibres as they will melt onto the skin under the effect of the arc. The protective clothing does not protect from electric shock. The protective clothing protects against the thermal hazards of an electric arc.

EN 1149-5:2018

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. ELECTROSTATIC PROPERTIES.

Part 5: Material performance and design requirements

• Electrostatic dissipative protective clothing.

• The person wearing the protective clothing must be properly earthed.

• The resistance between a person and the earth should be less than 10 Ω, e.g. when wearing suitable footwear.

• Electrostatic dissipative protective clothing is used in flammable or explosive atmospheres to prevent uncontrolled discharges, such as those caused by static electricity, which could cause sparks and ignition hazards.

• Wear and tear, washing and dirt affect the conductivity properties of electrostatic dissipative protective clothing.

ALWAYS FOLLOW THE WASHING INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED BY THE MANUFACTURER.

• Sort your laundry by care instructions, dirtiness and colour

• Always wash EN-marked protective clothing separately from other laundry

• Wash clothes inside out, with zippers and Velcros closed

• Avoid soaking

• Products containing wool require a special washing programme

• Wool products also clean well by airing

• Do not use a fabric conditioner

• For tumble-dried clothes, avoid over-drying, it causes shrinkage

HEAT TRANSFER PRINTING

A heat transfer printed image on a piece of clothing is photographic, with even the smallest details coming out sharply. The printed image is highly resistant to normal washing, and the printing films are available in a variety of colours, including reflective and flame retardant.

EMBROIDERY

Embroidering is made by machine stitching. The embroidery is unaffected by heavy use and retains its colour and design when machine washed. A wide range of yarn colours to choose from.

PREPARATION OF SOURCE MATERIALS

To ensure a good print and embroidery result, the logo material should be submitted electronically as a printable .pdf file. We do not charge a start-up fee if you provide the logo pre-vectorised as an .eps or .ai file.
