HAWAI‘I OPERA PLAZA IS ONE OF HAWAI‘I OPERA THEATRE’S MOST VALUABLE ASSETS, AND THE HEART OF OUR ORGANIZATION. Located at 848 S. Beretania Street, the building became part of Hawai‘i Opera Theatre’s legacy through the generosity of Adelaide M. Andrade, who included the property in her estate plans. Since acquiring the title in 1984, HOT has transformed the nearly 60,000-square-foot building into far more than an office. It is where productions are imagined, costumes are created, artists rehearse, students learn and our mission comes to life every day. The building also plays a vital role in HOT’s long-term financial sustainability, generating rental income that helps support our artistic and educational programs. But after more than 50 years, Hawai‘i Opera Plaza is showing its age. Aging infrastructure, outdated common areas and worn public spaces no longer reflect the excellence of the organization they serve. The building’s condition also limits our ability to attract and retain quality tenants, reducing an important source of revenue for our future. Now, we have an opportunity to invest in the place that has invested in us for generations.
