Students in CareerTech programs have the opportunity to join student organizations to develop career and leadership skills. These 7 organizations include: BPA, DECA, FCCLA, FFA, HOSA, Skills USA & TSA

1. If a CareerTech program sounds like an ideal fit for your student, it is important to first schedule a tour. Many times tech centers award application points to student who attend tech center events.
2. When a student shows interest in a CareerTech program, the best time to start researching tech centers would be mid October through November. Tech center application periods vary, be sure to pay attention to the deadlines!
3. Most tech center applications can be found on the tech center’s website. Some tech centers require a counselor’s signature. If so, complete the student application in its entirety and send it to the Epic CareerTech Specialist to complete and send to the tech center. Additional documents such as attendance records and transcripts will also be sent in by the CareerTech Specialist.
4. After students apply and applications close, tech centers will reach out directly to the student or to the CareerTech Specialist for interview information. Make sure to list a NON-EPIC EMAIL on the application as the tech centers are not able to contact students through their Epic email.
5. Tech centers will begin to notify students of their application status by mid-April via mail, email or phone call. It is important that all student contact information is correct and up-to-date!
6. Tech centers will send the CareerTech Specialist a list of accepted students between May and August to begin scheduling for the following school year.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Must have reliable transportation to and from their teach center daily
• Student apply the year before they wish to attend (some applications open as early as September)
• Most programs are open to students in grades 11 and 12
• Some tech centers offer academy programs which are open to 10th grade students
