Admissions Policy
Introduction
Little Habs Nursery welcomes applications from families both within and beyond the Haberdashers’ community. Little Habs Nursery provides a high -quality early years environment that supports children’s development and prepares them for the next stage of their education.
At Little Habs we care for children between the ages of 6 months old, up to the age of 4 years old.
The numbers and ages of children admitted to the nursery comply with the legal space requirements set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). When considering admissions, we are mindful of staff: child ratios and the facilities available at the nursery.
Admission to Little Habs Nursery is subject to availability and the completion of Little Habs Nursery application process.
Attendance at Little Habs Nursery does not guarantee admission to Reception or any other part of the School.
Allocation of Places
Where the number of applications exceeds the number of places available, places will be allocated according to the following oversubscription criteria, listed in order of priority:
• Children of current members of staff employed by Haberdashers’ Elstree Schools.
• Children with a sibling currently attending Little Habs at the time of admission.
• Children with a sibling currently attending Habs Girls or Habs Boys at the time of admission
• Children of Haberdashers’ Elstree Schools Alumni
• Other applicants
Within each category, preference will normally be given to:
• full-time all-year -round places
• full -time, term time only places
• part -time places
If there are more applicants than places available within a particular priority group, Little Habs will allocate places according to:
• The date the completed application was received
• The availability of the requested sessions
Little Habs Nursery reserves the right to manage allocations in a way that supports the effective operation of the setting and the balance of groups within the nursery.
Little Habs Nursery reserves the right to review and amend this admissions policy from time to time.
Discretion Clause
Little Habs Nursery reserves the right to offer places outside these criteria where this is considered to be in the best interests of Little Habs Nursery or Haberdashers’ Elstree Schools.
Accepting a place
We will email confirmation of your child’s place, or waitlist place on 11 May 2026
If you do not accept the place by 4pm on 14 May 2026, we reserve the right to offer the place to the next family on our waiting list.
To accept a place offer at LittleHabs , you will be required to:
• sign our the parent agreement contract
• pay a non -refundable registration fee
• pay your place acceptance deposit.
A £200 non -refundable fee is required upon registration (this does not secure your child’s place). A £2,500 deposit is required to secure and confirm your child’s place (if you receive an offer and would like to accept .
Cancelling a confirmed place
A full term’s notice is required in writing for the withdrawal of a child, otherwise a term’s fees in lieu of notice will be payable.
