Dear BlackHorse Members,
April… can anyone else believe we are talking about April already. March was fun but hello Masters, Easter, and more fun at the Club!
The Stable party to wrap up March was a great success We hosted a fun night betting on the ponies at Sam Houston Race Park, the new home of The Stable party A huge thank you again to all that referred a Member in 2025 Growing Membership through your friends well there is just no better way to do it They are instantly plugged in and connected to the best Members in town Congrats to the Gutierrez Family on winning complimentary dues for a year. If you want to win in 2027, refer someone this year and become a part of The Stable.
April is the month we will begin playing out of new bunkers - how exciting is that!? Thank you for the patience during this project It is going to make us better for sure The exciting part is the vision does not end there Our main focus and biggest goal is to make the golf course as good as we can get it Each decision and effort made is going to have that in mind This bunker project has exceeded our expectations and from conversations with you, most of yours!
In conversations with Tyler, the focus remains to clean up the turf areas with chemical applications to target weeds and then utilizing an aggressive fertilizer program to push growth in the fairways. We have already begun pushing short grass and high traffic rough areas. The efforts are noticeable but still in progress. While normal maintenance occurs, we will also target more localized projects on the course to keep making playability, growing conditions and aesthetics better and better.

Well, March has come and gone, and we ’ re on to April.
Our March Madness brackets are wrapping up, and it’s been an exciting ride. I had Duke going all the way, and their one-point loss to UConn was a tough one to swallow. As it stands, Levi Cook looks poised to take home the BlackHorse March Madness CA$H However, if Michigan wins the National Championship, David Proud could still come out on top overall
In March, we also hosted our 2nd Annual Stable Party For those unfamiliar, this event celebrates our members and the friends they’ve invited to the Club over the past year Last year, we held it at the Pavilion here at BH, but this year we decided to change things up with an off-site trip to Sam Houston Race Park Not to pat ourselves on the back too much - but it turned out to be a fantastic decision. We had a suite overlooking the finish line, the weather was perfect, sliding doors open with a cool breeze in the air, the food was great, and the drinks were cold. And personally, I managed to recover more than all my NCAA bracket losses - so I call that a winwin-win.
The Stable Party is all about friends inviting friends When our membership grows through the incredible people already part of BlackHorse, it only makes our community stronger As a way to show our appreciation - and our commitment to that belief - we celebrate those who refer their friends each year with special prizes, including the chance to win a year of free dues This year ’ s lucky winners were Victor, Angie, and Lucas Gutierrez
Next up in April, the best golf tournament of the year - The Masters I’ll be putting together a little Masters pool to add some extra excitement, so stay tuned for details for that.
Thank you all for your continued support. I look forward to seeing you around the Club soon.
Kind Regards,
Neil Sherrod Membership Director

Dear Members,
I would like to provide a brief update on recent course improvements and ongoing agronomic practices.
Bunker Project Update
We are pleased to report that all bunkers have now been completed This marks a significant milestone in the project, and we appreciate your patience throughout the process The bunkers are currently undergoing final settling and preparation, and we anticipate reopening them for play in approximately two weeks
Fertilizer Applications
The Agronomy team has recently completed a calcium nitrate application on both courses to promote healthy turf growth and recovery. In addition, we have begun our foliar application program, which includes the use of plant growth regulators. These applications are already producing excellent results, improving turf density, consistency, and overall playability.
South Course Update
On the South Course, we have begun mowing newly sodded areas as they establish and mature This is an important step in integrating these areas into regular play conditions Additionally, we have been clearing and cleaning the area behind the 9th green to enhance air movement and improve overall aesthetics in this location
We appreciate your continued support and look forward to providing further updates as conditions continue to improve.
Sincerely,
Tyler Dunbar Director of Agronomy

March has come and gone, and with it we had a lot of successes, and we are looking forward to continuing that into April. One big change that you may have noticed is our Course Status Icon on the BlackHorse Website. This will be updated every morning and will provide you with pertinent information for your round. Any questions you have regarding hole locations or cart path status can be found in this one area.
I would also like to take this time to thank everyone who participated in our March Member Event. The Modified Stableford was a fantastic event, and I hope everyone who participated had a fantastic time. This month we are very excited to be hosting our next Member Event, the Modified Alternate Shot. If you haven’t registered yet, please visit the club calendar to reserve your spot today. Also, if you don’t have a partner and are interested in playing, please sign up and we will help pair you with another individual. These monthly Member Event’s are not just fun, they are also a great way to meet other fellow members.
This month is also exciting as we have recently rolled out many new programs for our membership. These programs are the new monthly skins game, the bi-weekly MGA, and our Triple Crown match play. We hope to see many of you participating in these events and enjoying this great game of golf. If you have any questions regarding these events, or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to someone on our Professional Staff.
As we continue moving through the season, I want to thank everyone for your flexibility and support out on the course. Conditions are improving daily, and we ’ re excited about where things are headed as we get into the heart of spring.
To help keep everyone informed, we ’ ve added a new Course Status feature on both the app and the website. This will be updated daily with important information including pin locations, any cart path only holes, and special notes for the day. It’s a quick and easy way to stay in the loop before you head out to play, and I encourage everyone to take advantage of it.
We appreciate your continued support and look forward to seeing you out at the club.

March brought a few fun (and delicious) moments out at the Club! We hope you all had a chance to enjoy Chef Leslie’s Lent features throughout the month - she did a fantastic job putting together some thoughtful and flavorful options
For St Patrick’s Day, we kept the festive spirit going by passing out Irish chocolate chip cookies, adding a little extra luck (and sugar) to everyone ’ s day
And for our monthly member event, we took things on the road! We cruised the course handing out Uncrustablesyes, you read that right! It was a special request from one of our members, and safe to say it was a crowd favorite
This month we are excited for Easter Brunch! Chef Leslie has put together a very thoughtful menu, and we look forward to celebrating with you and your families Please visit the club calendar of events to register or send me an email
We’re always looking for fun ways to surprise and delight, so keep the ideas coming - we love bringing them to life!
