Introduction
Welcome to Spark Tank—where big ideas take flight! In this hands-on project, students will step into the role of entrepreneur and inventor, turning their creative sparks into real-world solutions. Whether you imagine a groundbreaking invention, a helpful new product, or a business that could make a difference, Spark Tank is your stage to dream, design, and share.
Your mission: come up with an original idea, sketch out your plan, and explain why your solution matters. Bring your concept to life on a presentation board and show off how it works. Then, pitch your idea to others and see your creativity inspire the whole Epic community. Spark Tank is about problem-solving, innovation, and learning how to turn imagination into action!
What is an Entrepreneur?
An entrepreneur is a person who thinks of new ideas, creates something helpful, or starts a business to share their idea with others. Entrepreneurs are problem solvers and dreamers who make their ideas come to life!

SPARK TANK
INSTRUCTIONS: GRADES 1-3
Your Spark Tank Challenge:
Invent something brand new, or come up with a creative product or business idea. You’ll show your invention on a presentation board and share it during Innovators Day.
Here’s how to get started:
1. Imagine & Brainstorm
• Think about a problem people face.
• How could you help fix it?
• Can you invent something totally new, or make something better?
Example: Problem: Drinks spill in the car. Idea: A cup that can’t tip over!
2. Name Your Idea
Come up with a fun, catchy name for your invention, product, or business.
3. Design & Draw
Draw your idea! Label the important parts to show how it works.
4. Plan the Details
Answer these questions in your own words:
• Who would use it?
• Why is it helpful?
• How much do you think it would cost?
• Where could people buy it?
PRESENTATION BOARD REQUIREMENTS
Your board should include:
• Big, bold title (the name of your idea)
• Problem & Solution (what problem it solves and how it helps)
• Drawing or design of your invention
• Details (your answers to “who, why, how much, where”)
• Fun extras! Add a logo, slogan, or decorations to make your board stand out.
Optional:
• Build a model of your invention! You can use paper, Legos, cardboard, or anything else you like. This part is extra, but it’s exciting to show off what you’ve made.
PRESENTATION TIPS
• Practice telling about your idea in 1–2 minutes.
• Speak clearly and confidently.
• Smile because your idea is amazing!
Remember: There are no wrong ideas. Be creative, be bold, and have fun with Spark Tank!
