International Workshop

Hello I’m Arisara Thammawongsa, and I’m an architecture graduate from Chulalongkorn University. I am interested in exploring how people, places, and the environment relate to one another. I see each design project as an opportunity to learn, starting with understanding the context of a place and developing spaces that respond to its users' needs.

Vision

As Thailand’s forests continue to decline, this project examines the role of bees in pollination and in sustainable ecosystem restoration. Ban Nai Nang Community in Krabi is the first in Thailand to integrate beekeeping with forest conservation while generating local income. Despite Krabi’s thriving tourism economy, much of the revenue benefits hotels and coastal accommodations, leaving local community enterprises with limited economic opportunities.

Exploring architectural design that strengthens community participation alongside conservation, focusing on sustainable coexistence among people, animals, and the environment, under the concept of The Phenomenon of Symbiosis.

Perspective l Ban Nai Nang Apiculture Learning Center

The architectural approach interprets the lifestyles of bees and the local community through a hexagonal modular bamboo structure, inspired by beehive geometry and combined with local materials in a contemporary form. The modular system provides structural flexibility and allows spaces to respond to changing uses.

Sustainable Rubber Agroforestry

01 02 03 04 05

The beekeeping forest has been developed into a sustainable rubber agroforestry system, with rubber trees spaced at 3 × 12 m intervals. This spacing creates wider planting rows for integrating crops and for systematically placing beehives, while improving maintenance and harvesting efficiency.

Hivebox Design Development The project adopts the 3x Fold Hive concept, a modular, foldable hive with glass viewing panels for hive inspections. This reduces disturbance and improves safety, while its hexagonal form enhances heat dissipation and ventilation, providing a more suitable environment for bees.

FRIENDSHIP HEALING

Autodesk AutoCAD/Sketchup D5 render/Photoshop/Illustrator

As Thailand enters an aging society, older adults have varying levels of independence and care needs. Yet all share the desire for a longer, healthier life. This project explores how a healthy community, safe, clean, supportive, and socially connected, can promote well-being for both older adults and the wider community through agefriendly living environments.
