Recently,theFortPiercePoliceDepartmenttrainedalongsideourregionalpartners, includingtheSt.LucieCountySheriff’sOffice,duringFDLE’sAdvancedCounter AmbushandActiveShooterResponsetraining.

This hands-on training, led by FDLE’s Sworn Training Unit (STU), brought agencies together to sharpen critical skills, strengthen coordination, and prepare for high-stress, real-world scenarios. From shooting on the move to responding to vehicle ambushes, the focus remained on readiness, communication, and teamwork when it matters most. These partnerships continue to help build a stronger and safer community.

The 2026 Street Resurfacing Program has identified the streets scheduled for resurfacing. Staff has provided the contractor with the list of roadways and a bid tabulation for submission of the work proposal:

· 16th Court from Avenue I to Avenue M

· 15th Street from South End to Avenue O

· Avenue L from 14th Street to 13th Street

· Avenue O from 13th Street to US 1

· Boston Avenue from 29th Street to 33rd Street

· Nebraska Avenue from 33rd Street to 31st Street

· 26th Street from Virginia Avenue to Rhode Island

· Quincy Avenue from Sunrise Blvd to the east end

Theroadwayimprovementprojectwillincludedrainageenhancementsthroughout theSurfsideParkneighborhood.Streetsidentifiedforimprovementsunderthis projectincludeMelaleucaDrive,PloverAvenue,PelicanDrive,WalnutCourt, EucalyptusAvenue,CypressAvenue,andSunsetIsleRoad.Plannedimprovements consistofconstructingvalleyguttersonbothsidesoftheroadway,eliminatingthe remainingroadsideswalesthroughregrading,replacingdrivewayaprons,and completingmillingandresurfacingoperations.Inaddition,FortPierceUtilities Authority(FPUA)willupgradewatermainsandsanitarysewerlinesalongthreeofthe projectroadways.

Todate,valleyguttershavebeeninstalled,drivewayapronsrestored,andthefirstlift ofasphaltcompletedonMelaleucaDrive,PelicanDrive,SunsetIsleRoad,anda portionofPloverAvenueeastofPelicanDrive.TheremainingsectionofPlover AvenuewestofPelicanDriverequiredadditionaldrainageimprovementsafterfailed areaswerediscoveredduringsewerlateralreplacementactivities.

Thecontractoriscurrentlyperformingdrainageinstallationworkalongthe remainingportionsofPloverAvenue,WalnutCourt,andEucalyptusDrive.

The City has received fully executed agreements for this work. Final coordination efforts are currently underway prior to advertising the project for construction.

ThisprojectincludesthefullroadwayandbridgereconstructionofIndianRiver DrivebetweenSeawayDriveandAvenueA.Corridorimprovementsincludethe additionofon-streetparking;acurb-and-gutterroadwaysectioncomplete withsidewalks;decorativestreetlighting;water,sewer,andelectricutility upgrades;reconstructionofthebridgeoverMoore’sCreek;anupgraded stormwatercollectionsystem;landscapingenhancements;andADA improvements,includingbrickpavercrosswalks. Currentconstructionactivitiesincludestormdrainageinstallation,bridge construction,andutilityrelocationwork.Projectcompletioniscurrently anticipatedinSpring2027.

Therearefourhomesunderconstructionat710–704N.24thStreet. Theyhaverecentlycompleteddrywallandarepreparingforstucco androofing.Thiswillbefollowedbypaintingandthetrim-outphase forplumbing,electrical,andHVACsystems.

We’vehadastrongstarttothefiscalyear.ThroughMay,wewere approximately700roundsaheadoflastyearand$40,000ahead ingreenfeerevenueoverthesameperiod.Whilethereisstill plentyofworkaheadofus,theimprovedcourseconditionshave playedasignificantroleinthisyear’searlysuccess.

Beginninginmid-May,welaunchedouraggressivesummercourse maintenanceprogram.Thefirstgreensaerationwascompletedon Tuesday,May12th,andWednesday,May13th,andthegreenshave respondedextremelywell.Weedshavebeentreated,arebeginningto yellow,andarebeingsteadilysuppressedbynewturfgrowth. Wewillalsobespikingselectteesandfairwaystorelievecompaction followingthebusywinterseason.Asecondlarge-scalegreens maintenanceeffortisplannedforearlySeptember,followingasimilar approach.

BeginninginearlyJune,Hole#6willtemporarilyplayasapar3for theremainderofthesummer.Duringthistime,wewillbe performing“inter-sprigging,”whichincorporatesnew,healthyturf sprigstopromoteastrongerandhealthierplayingsurface.Hole#6 hasbeenourweakestfairway,andthisimprovementinitiativeis intendedtosignificantlyenhancetheconditionoftheprimary landingareabetween150and75yardsfromthegreen.
