Greetings from WestCare Nevada, The July edition of The Loop newsletter highlights meaningful transitions, new partnerships, and the continued dedication of our staff, alumni, and community partners to WestCare Nevada’s mission.

We recognize Dr. George Kaiser, our longtime Medical Director, as he enters semi-retirement after more than 20 years of extraordinary service. His clinical leadership, compassion, and commitment have made a lasting impact on WestCare Nevada.

We are also proud to announce our new partnership with Campus for Hope, where WestCare Nevada will serve as the primary substance use treatment provider. This collaboration expands opportunities to provide comprehensive, coordinated, and compassionate services for individuals and families throughout our community.

WestCare also continues to strengthen community connections through potential partnerships with the City of Las Vegas Strong Start GO! Mobile Pre-K Academy Program and participation in

the Called to Care Conference, where Chaplain Ryan Creelman highlighted the role of spiritual care alongside evidence-based treatment.

Additionally, our WestCare Alumni Group and WestCare Aftercare Fellowship raised funds through fireworks booth fundraisers to support activities and special events within our treatment settings.

As we reflect on these accomplishments, we are reminded of our WestCare Shared Principle: Prioritize Success for Those We Serve. Through partnerships, treatment, and community support, our purpose remains the same: helping people lead healthier, more hopeful, and fulfilling lives.

IN LAS VEGAS COMMUNITY Campus for Hope

A great Medical Director brings more than medical expertise. They build trust, offer compassion, and help create positive experiences for every patient. Dr. George Kaiser has done exactly that throughout his 45-year medical career, including decades specializing in addiction medicine.

WestCare Nevada is honored to announce its selection as the primary provider of substance use treatment and an on-campus service partner for Campus for Hope.

I first met Dr. Kaiser in 2008 when he shared his vision for a WestCare outpatient Suboxone clinic that would provide affordable, accessible care. What started as a one-day-a-week clinic quickly grew as more individuals sought treatment. Over the years, patients came to trust Dr. Kaiser not only for his knowledge but for the genuine care he showed each person. Together, we witnessed many milestones in their recovery journeys and lives.

In nearly two decades, Dr. Kaiser and I cared for approximately 470 clients through more than 5,295 office visits. Along the way, I learned so much about addiction medicine, compassion, and the power of meeting people where they are. His dedication has made a lasting difference in the lives of countless individuals and in all of us who have had the privilege of working alongside him.

Campus for Hope is a transformational housing campus that brings together housing and comprehensive supportive services through coordinated community partnerships to help individuals and families experiencing homelessness achieve long-term stability and self-sufficiency.

As the primary provider of substance use treatment, WestCare Nevada will deliver compassionate, trauma-informed, evidence-based care that supports individuals on their path to recovery. Through this partnership, individuals will have access to coordinated treatment services that help strengthen personal well-being, promote long-term stability, and support lasting recovery.

This collaboration reflects WestCare Nevada's commitment to working alongside community partners to expand access to quality behavioral health services and meet the needs of individuals and families across Southern Nevada. By combining housing with comprehensive supportive services, Campus for Hope creates a collaborative model that helps participants build the skills and stability needed for long-term success.

WestCare Nevada is proud to join Campus for Hope and its network of partners in helping strengthen our community through coordinated care, recovery support, and opportunities for a healthier future.

WestCare Nevada recently welcomed representatives from the City of Las Vegas, including Dr. Malik and Angela Rose, for a tour focused on strengthening services for children and families across Southern Nevada.

The visit provided an opportunity to share ideas, explore innovative approaches, and discuss how partnerships can create meaningful opportunities for families in our community.

Faith, fellowship, and recovery go hand in hand.

Those themes were at the heart of the "Communities of Hope: Faith-Led Recovery in Practice" session at the Called to Care conference, where faith and community leaders from across the country came together to discuss the important role faith communities play in supporting individuals on their recovery journey.

A highlight of the visit was a discussion about the innovative Strong Start GO! Mobile Pre-K Academy, a mobile classroom designed to bring highquality early childhood education directly into neighborhoods. By removing barriers to learning and meeting families where they are, the academy helps ensure children have access to a strong educational foundation during their earliest years.

The visit sparked thoughtful conversations about how creative partnerships like this can complement WestCare's mission of building healthier communities and providing comprehensive, accessible services. As the Women and Children's Village continues to grow, collaborations that expand educational opportunities and strengthen support for children and families have never been more important.

We are grateful to Dr. Malik, Angela Rose, and the City of Las Vegas for taking the time to visit our campus and share their vision for the future. We look forward to continuing these conversations, exploring new opportunities for collaboration, and working together to create lasting, positive impact for children and families throughout Southern Nevada.

Representing WestCare on the panel, Chaplain Ryan Creelman, Spiritual Director for the WestCare Foundation, shared how spiritual care can complement evidence-based treatment by fostering hope, meaningful connection, and a sense of purpose throughout recovery. The conversation also highlighted the value of community partnerships in creating lasting pathways to healing and long-term success.

WestCare is grateful to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for convening this important discussion and bringing together organizations committed to strengthening recovery through collaboration, compassion, and shared purpose.

Alumni Fireworks Booth

By Leo Magrdichian, Vice President For approximately 20 years, the WestCare Nevada Alumni Group has carried on a tradition that represents the heart of recovery: giving back. This Fourth of July, the Alumni Group once again held a successful fireworks fundraiser at their longtime booth at Rainbow Boulevard and Flamingo Road, with funds raised helping create meaningful experiences for individuals currently receiving services within WestCare Nevada’s treatment settings.

Each year, the Alumni Group hosts three signature events: Spring Fling, Beast Feast, and Music on the Mountain, bringing current clients together for food, games, fellowship, and the connection and community that are so important to long-term recovery. What makes these events especially meaningful is the alumni who make them possible. Having walked their own recovery journeys, they volunteer their time to support those now walking a similar path, demonstrating that recovery can become an opportunity to reach back, encourage others, and strengthen the recovery community.

For two decades, the Rainbow and Flamingo booth has represented more than a Fourth of July fundraiser. It represents service, fellowship, recovery, and the continuing commitment of WestCare Nevada alumni to give back. Congratulations and thank you to the WestCare Nevada Alumni Group for another successful year and for continuing to show what recovery in action looks like.

In celebration of America's 250th birthday, the Spiritual Care Chaplain Program and the Spiritual Aftercare Fellowship hosted their fifth annual fireworks fundraiser, continuing a tradition of supporting individuals in residential treatment and early recovery at WestCare Nevada.

Located at the corner of Lake Mead Boulevard and Tenaya Way, the booth welcomed community members throughout the holiday season to purchase Phantom Fireworks while giving back to a meaningful cause.

Proceeds from the fundraiser help support the Spiritual Care Chaplain Program's mission of providing hope, healing, encouragement, and spiritual care to those on their recovery journey.

Now in its fifth year, the annual fundraiser has become more than a holiday tradition. It brings together community members, supporters, and volunteers in support of recovery, with funds helping expand opportunities for individuals as they work toward healing and long-term wellness. WestCare Nevada is grateful to everyone who helped make this year's fundraiser another success.
