Introduction
Welcome to Spark Tank—where big ideas take flight! In this hands-on project, students will step into the role of entrepreneur and inventor, turning their creative sparks into real-world solutions. Whether you imagine a groundbreaking invention, a helpful new product, or a business that could make a difference, Spark Tank is your stage to dream, design, and share.
Your mission: come up with an original idea, sketch out your plan, and explain why your solution matters. Bring your concept to life on a presentation board and show off how it works. Then, pitch your idea to others and see your creativity inspire the whole Epic community. Spark Tank is about problem-solving, innovation, and learning how to turn imagination into action!
What is an Entrepreneur?
An entrepreneur is a person who thinks of new ideas, creates something helpful, or starts a business to share their idea with others. Entrepreneurs are problem solvers and dreamers who make their ideas come to life!

SPARK TANK

Your Spark Tank Challenge:
Come up with a new product, service, or business idea that solves a real problem or makes life better in some way. You’ll create a presentation board to show off your idea and explain your thinking.
Here’s how to get started:
1. Identify a problem
Look for challenges in everyday life, at school, in your community, or even around the world. What annoys or frustrates people? What could be improved? Who would benefit if you solved this problem?
Do some research: Find 1–2 facts about your problem from a book, article, or trusted website. Write down your source to include on your board.
2. Develop Your Solution
Design an invention, product, or service to tackle the problem. Be creative, but also think about how your idea would really work. How does your solution help people?
3. Name & Brand Your Idea
Pick a memorable name for your business, product, or service.
Optional: Create a logo or slogan to show off your brand.
4. Design & Draw
Make sketches, diagrams, or even a model of your idea. Label the important parts or features to help others understand how it works.
5. Design & Draw
Answer these questions in clear sentences or bullet points:
• Who is your target customer?
• Why will people want or need your idea?
• What would it cost to make?
• How much would you sell it for?
• Where would people buy it (online, in stores, at school, etc.)?
• Who else already sells something similar (your competitors)?
Research: Find at least one fact about a competitor or similar product, and explain how your idea is different or better.
6. Optional) Build a Model
If you’d like, create a simple prototype or 3D design using materials you have at home, craft supplies, Legos, or digital design tools.

PRESENTATION BOARD REQUIREMENTS
Your board should include:
• Big, bold title (name of your idea)
• Problem Statement (what problem you’re solving — include 1–2 research facts and your sources)
• Solution/Invention Description (how it works and why it helps)
• Drawing/Design (labeled picture, diagram, or model photo
• Business Plan Details (who your customers are, cost, price, where to sell, and competitors)
• Research Section (facts and sources written in your own words)
• Fun Extras (logo, slogan, or decorations to make your board stand out)
PRESENTATION TIPS
• Prepare to talk for 2–4 minutes about your project.
• Practice explaining your problem, your idea, and how it works.
• Be confident, professional, and enthusiastic!
Remember: The best entrepreneurs are curious, creative, and courageous. Don’t be afraid to think big and bold with your Spark Tank idea!
