EXECUTIVE Q&A
Sparking creativity, leading trends
By Michael Burns
It’s the final day of build-up on the eve of ISE 2026, and Mike Blackman, managing director of Integrated Systems Events, is full of enthusiasm for the week ahead.
“Every year, when I come into ISE and I see what the exhibitors are doing, the effort they make, it just wows me every time. That’s just so motivating,” he says.
Blackman reveals a 12% increase in preregistrations compared to the same day last year. “We’re definitely going for a record,” he adds. “We know there’s going to be content here that’s going to really satisfy the attendees.”
The show has grown in size yet again. Lighting and staging is one area in particular seeing a surge. “We’ve slowly seen growth there, but suddenly last year was a big kick. A lot of the major names made a decision that this is the show they wanted to be at,” says Blackman.
Broadcast AV is also on the rise, prompting comparisons with IBC in Amsterdam. “We’re not going after IBC’s market. Our market is going after their customers,” he observes. “Their customers are changing what they’re using, and it’s more related to pro AV now."
One big change for 2026 is Spark, a fourday event focused on the creative industry, debuting this year.
“Spark is something a bit different from what we normally do, a bit more interactive, with more activations. It’s something really creative that I hope gives people food for thought about what they can do. We see a lot of growth potential there.”
The growth is such that Spark will move out of the Fira next year. “We’re running out of space here at the moment, so for 2027 we have a challenge,” Blackman explains. “Spark will move to Fira Montjuïc, which is just ten minutes
THE SHOW EXPERIENCE
Take a breath
Barcelona-based multimedia design studio
Instronic has transformed the walkway to Hall 8.1, turning it into an immersive spatial experience.
Entitled 'Breathe', the installation is inspired by the rhythm of breathing and the way the body moves through space. Light, sound and digital visuals rise and fall in a steady flow, echoing inhale and exhale, gently recalibrating attention as visitors move through. According to Instronic, the space does not ask people to stop or look, but to pass through differently, turning movement into the experience.
down the road, and we’re going to grow there. Here at Fira Gran Via, Hall 8 will grow; with more lighting and staging coming in, we’ll create some extra space for them.”
Also new for 2026 are Megatrends sessions covering AI, Cybersecurity, Robotics, Smart Spaces, Sustainability and TradeScape.
Of the latter, Blackman says: “People are asking how tariffs and issues around global trade are going to affect us? Increasingly we, as ISE, are being asked to give our opinions on it. So we’re bringing in people who can provide those opinions and bring this very strong discussion to ISE.”
Cybersecurity is also in the spotlight. “It affects us all,” he adds. “We’re increasingly seeing that AV installations are becoming a gateway for cyber criminals. We’re trying to arm integrators, manufacturers and others to be able to tell their customers they’re aware of the risks, and show what they’re doing to mitigate those risks.”
AI is another key trend. “AI is becoming even more significant, not just as a software accessory, but it is being built into hardware now in many situations. End users want to understand, is it a danger? How can I implement AI in my business? What is hype and what is real? So, we’ve chosen a real star for this year’s keynote in Sol Rashidi, one of the creators of IBM Watson. There’s no-one better to answer those questions.”
When asked to consider what a successful ISE 2026 looks like, Blackman says: “The first thing is the number of product launches and new things we’ll see coming to the industry. That and seeing the happy faces walking out. For most of our attendees, their most valuable asset is time. We want to make sure when they walk out, they’ll think this was worthwhile. We also want to make sure that the right people came, so our exhibitors go away and say, ‘we did valuable business at ISE. This was worth the investment’.”
Blackman: 'We know there's going to be content here that's going to really satisfy the attendees'
EXECUTIVE Q&A
Creating a community spirit
By Anne Morris
This year’s ISE will be the last for David Labuskes in his role as CEO of AVIXA as he recently announced his retirement at the end of 2026. For him, ISE has always been the “official start to the year”, and he also welcomes this year’s theme of ‘Push Beyond’ for its forward-looking approach to what might be next for the AV industry.
For its part, AVIXA is supporting two key events that Labuskes is “really excited about”, both of which are organised by volunteers. One is the inaugural Women in AV Collective at 14;30 on Thursday in CC4.1 with the theme ‘Leading Beyond Limits. Empowering Through Connection’ and presented by the AVIXA Women’s Council.
“It is focused on ensuring the power of diversity and advancing that gender diversity in the AV industry,” Labuskes says.
The second event takes place today at 12:15 on the Xchange LIVE stand, when the AVIXA Sustainability Task Force is hosting a session with the aim of breaking down
sustainability into simple, actionable steps.
“Again, it is all volunteers, but they have spent years at this point putting together best practices, recommendations and suggestions on how to deliver a more sustainable solution within the AV industry. And that’s another issue that is timeless,” Labuskes says.
Overall, Labuskes likes to promote the community spirit that underpins AV shows such as ISE and its co-owners AVIXA and CEDIA. If he had to pick one theme driving the industry right now, he cites immersive experiences and how they are becoming increasingly personalised to increase their value to users.
“I think enmeshed through all of the exhibits you see here this week, you’re going to see this layering in on immersive experiences, personalisation, leveraging of AI to deliver on that,” he says.
Labuskes concedes that the AV industry is not immune to the current geopolitical and economic turbulence, but emphasises that the industry’s strength also lies in the ubiquity of AV technology.
Labuskes: ‘We work hard at defining AV as connecting people to people with technology’
“We work hard at defining AV as connecting people to people with technology. Part of why I’m so happy with leaning into that is that if your business is connecting people to people, you have a 100-year business,” he says.
“There’s no dinosaur moment ahead for us."

An explosion of AI is coming in smart homes
By Anne Morris
Artificial intelligence “will explode” at ISE this year, according to Daryl Friedman, global president and CEO of CEDIA, with more examples of how it is being integrated in smart home technology to benefit integrators and homeowners.
“We’ve been talking about AI for three or four years, and it’s been primarily in the context of how our integrators can use AI in their businesses to make them more efficient. But the shift you’re seeing today is how AI is actually going to be part of the technologies that are in people’s homes, how homeowners can best utilise that,” Friedman says.
He adds that integrators “can be that bridge between the technology and the homeowner to make sure that the technology is used properly”.
Overall, Friedman expects ISE 2026 to be CEDIA’s biggest event to date, not least owing to the increase in residential exhibitors on the ground.
“The residential sector has been smaller at ISE compared to
the commercial sector. That’s now growing and, of course, there are a lot of integrators who do both, so there’s a lot of overlap, but you’ll see more residential exhibitors at this show,” he says.
The association is also expanding its education offering, with around 50 courses at the show. Friedman describes it as “probably the most robust education conference for residential integrators that we’ve ever seen at ISE. We’re really
happy with the trajectory of how residential is growing.”
In terms of AV technology developments, he highlights how lighting is becoming a major topic in the home integration segment.
“The next iteration of lighting and shading will be a big part of this show,” he says, with a particular focus on human-centric lighting that supports wellness. He notes that the aim here is not to make homes high-tech for the sake of it, but to “really improve quality of life”.
“This is what we call integration for good,” Friedman adds. “It is something that's really important to the industry, and you will see more of that at ISE.”
Furthermore, CEDIA is expanding its research division this year to gain “more robust information and insights for the industry”.
“Last year, we started that by doing our first European research on the size and scope of the market. So now integrators in Europe can understand where they fit with their competitors. You’ll see more of that as we unveil this new department of research,” he says.

MUXWAVE | STAND: 5P300
Invisible Screen makes an appearance
The Holographic Invisible Screen from Muxwave is a transparent LED self-service terminal with a three-sided frameless design that can slot together to create larger displays. The new screen is ideal for creating floating visuals and can deliver high-impact naked-eye AR experiences.
It can easily adapt to various commercial and exhibition spaces, without blocking light or sightlines, and blends naturally into the environment, being largely invisible when off – with transparency of 95%.
The base of each modular, mobile all-in-one unit clicks together using a proprietary three-point quick-lock system. This can quickly allow it to be built into a much larger screen, where its frameless design on the sides makes it look like a seamless bezel-free display. Each module can also be used as a stand-alone kiosk unit.
Brightness is about 1700 nits, with a pixel pitch of 3.91mm and profile dimensions of 1000x2288x550mm.

WHAT’S ON Bringing the hidden into view
British artist and the founder and principal artist of United Visual Artists (UVA), Matt Clark, will be delivering ISE's Creative Keynote this afternoon, in a session entitled ‘Behind the Façade: Building a performance-led mapping at Casa Batlló, from concept to implementation’.
Here, he will tell the story of UVA’s Casa Batlló commission, 'Hidden Order', a new façade mapping for Gaudí’s iconic masterpiece. The time-based audiovisual work treats the building as both subject and instrument. Starting from Gaudí’s relationship to geometry and nature, it breaks the façade into structural building blocks and recomposes them through light, motion and sound. Choreography is integral to the work, using human movement as a compositional driver. The piece moves between figuration and abstraction, and between the human and the architectural, with real-world constraints shaping both the visual language and the technical design. It sits
alongside 'Behind the Façade', an indoor exhibition that expands the process into standalone works.
Clark will cover the end-to-end process of creating the piece, from creative concept and visual language, to the challenges of working within an unusual context and the technical implementation. He will also outline how UVA translates architectural logic into a controllable visual system, and how technical artisans and specialists carry the work from studio tests to implementation on the building.
Matt Clark’s Creative Keynote, ‘Behind the Façade: Building a performance-led mapping at Casa Batlló, from concept to implementation’, takes place today from 15:30-16:15 in Room CC4.1. It is free to attend.

Setting a new standard for performance data in the smart home industry
WHAT IS RP1?
For over a decade, there has been a fundamental gap in how performance information is shared in the smart home industry. This is why the CEDIA Standards Committee has worked on a new recommended practice called RP1.
WHERE DID RP1 COME FROM?
About 10 years ago, Anthony Grimani – a recent CEDIA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient –began championing a crucial idea: the need for genuine, transparent engineering data in the market sector.
While spec sheets are common, their real-world meaning for professionals has often been questionable. A specification might claim ‘100W per channel’ or ‘50Hz to 20kHz’ frequency response, but without context and detail, these numbers do little to inform integrators on the best product for their project.
Things look very different in the commercial audio world. Visit any pro-audio manufacturer at industry shows such as ISE, and you’re likely to be handed a comprehensive document containing raw engineering specifications. This is a business-to-business environment where technical facilities managers and audio professionals demand rigorous data.
The residential world, by contrast, grew out of the hi-fi and consumer electronics marketplace, where such transparency wasn’t prioritised and consumers often lacked the background to dive into detailed engineering facts.
The inspiration behind RP1, colloquially referred to as “performance facts” is akin to the nutritional information panels found on food packaging. The idea is to highlight key attributes – those crucial pieces of data that allow for quick, informed decisionmaking – while still providing the ability to dig deeper into more granular details for those who need them.
amplifiers, AV processors, projectors, screens – are already being worked on).
WHY DO WE NEED RP1?
If the smart home industry aspires to enhance consumer trust and deliver predictable engineered experiences, then robust, standardised performance data is non-negotiable.
In the Integrator of 2027 white paper, we discussed the key
recommended practice, the industry will be able to deliver quantifiable, objective information to clients and partners, elevating the professionalism and accountability of CEDIA members globally.
Training and resources, including the recently announced Reference Audio Levels and SPL Capabilities white paper, will ensure that the knowledge and impact of RP1 extend long after the initial launch at CEDIA Expo.
The recommended practice asks manufacturers to provide clear, consistent engineering facts about the performance of their products, laid out in an accessible, standardised format. The goal isn’t to judge, rank, or review products, but to provide integrators with reliable facts so that they can make the best possible choices for their clients.
RP1 has been in the making for approximately six years, and the Standards Committee launched the first iteration at CEDIA Expo 2025, which is the industry review version of the RP1-1 loudspeakers recommended practice (the forthcoming documents –
processes that integrators need to complete – discovery, design and engineering. It’s at that stage that performance facts are going to be the most disruptive of all the recommended practices because the data from RP1 will allow integrators to professionally engineer systems. This then justifies integrators charging for their professional services, which let’s face it, in an era where margins are declining, is getting increasingly important.
RP1 is about empowering our industry to become technical authorities and transform the way we communicate and evaluate technology. With this
RP1 is the first step towards a broader transformation in the smart home industry – one that values transparency, technical expertise and professionalism. With this recommended practice, CEDIA aims to elevate the industry and lay the groundwork for future documents that will both further empower integrators and build trust with their clients.
CEDIA is running a number of training sessions at ISE to discuss RP1 in more detail. To view these courses, visit www.iseurope.org/contentprogramme/smart-hometechnology-conference.

SUMMIT CHAIR PROFILE
The meeting point for innovation in education
By Monica Heck
Barcelona has become the epicentre of all things education. For the first time, ISE 2026, the Edtech Congress 2026 and Fira de Barcelona are joining forces to become the meeting point for innovation not only within AV, but for the wider industry.
EdTech Congress Barcelona 2026, co-hosted by ISE, is running alongside the show on 4-5 February at the Palau de Congressos, Barcelona. Ticket holders for EdTech Congress Barcelona can visit the ISE show floor, with shuttle buses connecting both events. In addition, the Education Technology Summit has moved forward by a day, taking place today, to make it possible for EdTech Congress Barcelona visitors to join. In return the congress is delivering 40% of its content in English.
“Barcelona is a platform for innovation and it’s exciting to be collaborating with such an amazing group of innovators,” says Dr Gill Ferrell, executive director at 1EdTech Europe and chair of the Education Technology Summit at ISE. “It’s a natural fit, we all have the same connections and philosophy, and we expect this relation to deepen and take us in new directions in years to come.”
“The education technology world at ISE is a small part of a wider AV industry, mainly focusing on the unified communications, AR/VR, projectors, screens, interactive boards and other types of kit people use in classrooms,” she adds. “But there’s a huge market of other non-AV platforms and tools that can be described as learning management and pedagogically focused learning tools, that have been outside the main frame of reference of ISE
‘ISE allows you to meet a global group of people you would never otherwise meet, they bring so much experience to the table that we must grab the opportunity to engage with them, share and learn from everyone’s experience’
until now. It’s a huge industry with global giants, thriving European SMEs and start-ups serving particular niches. These very different technology providers can co-exist in a thriving ecosystem because they use 1EdTech open standards such as Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) to connect to other tools.”
Those attending this year’s Education Technology Summit can expect sessions that go beyond the hype of AI. “There are all sorts of angles from which to explore the intersection of AI and AV and, to that end,
we are bringing together an archaeologist, a philosopher and a time traveller to drive the summit this year,” quips Ferrell, herself a scholar of archaeology. “We’re now much more grounded when it comes to AI. We see the risks, the opportunities and the demands of the education world when it comes to children, young people and lifelong learners. Can we use it safely, securely, ethically? Does it make learning better?”
Ferrell encourages as many people as possible to attend the Education Technology Summit’s opening keynote,
‘Don’t Mention the VAR’, by Dutch technophilosopher Rens van der Vorst, who is known for his energetic on-stage presence.
“This session promises to make attendees rethink their relationship with technology and explore how it changes us,” she adds.
A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME
Academic and digital learning innovator Gilly Salmon will close the summit by transporting the audience through time in an interactive keynote and workshop. “We have been through many cycles of learning tool innovation before, and this session will address what 35 years of education technology has actually taught us,” says Ferrell. “We will reflect on what we need to take forward, what is going to help us use new tools like immersive learning and AI in ways that are productive and for the good of the learners.”
The interactivity aspect of this session is key, she notes. “It’s what we do as educators, ISE allows you to meet a global group of people you would never otherwise meet, they bring so much experience to the table that we must grab the opportunity to engage with them, share and learn from everyone’s experience.”
Ferrell is proud of how far the Education Technology Summit at ISE has come in the past eight years. “We have grown from 30 people in a room to becoming one of the mainstream conference verticals at the show,” she concludes. “The growth of our community has led ISE into new partnerships, so really, this is just the start of something exciting.”
Education Technology Summit runs today from 14:00-18:00 in Room CC5.1.

Compact switching without the compromises
Live production isn’t just for broadcast trucks anymore. Corporate events, education spaces and permanent installs increasingly need multi-camera switching that’s reliable, quick to set up and doesn’t overcomplicate the signal chain. That’s where Blackmagic Design’s ATEM Mini Extreme ISO G2 is designed to help.
The switcher is able to handle small to mid-size multi-camera setups comfortably with its eight HDMI inputs, whether that’s a panel discussion, training session or streamed presentation. It records ISO feeds from every input as well as the program output, meaning teams aren’t locked into live decisions and can refine content afterwards without rebuilding a show from scratch.
The hardware control surface keeps operation straightforward. Buttons are clearly laid out, multiview monitoring in-built, and common actions can be automated using macros – useful for repeatable formats where consistency matters. With audio control being handled directly on the unit, this avoids the need for additional mixers in simpler installs.
ROSS VIDEO | STAND: 4K500
Coming together for new experiences
Vertex is Ross Video’s experiential AV platform, following its acquisition of ioversal, bringing together video, audio, lighting and control into a single, unified system.
The platform is said to allow creators to design, manage and automate immersive experiences across interactive installations, live entertainment, large-scale productions and advanced projection mapping environments.
Demonstrations on the Ross stand are showing how the system simplifies complex workflows, expands creative and operational capability and delivers consistent, high-quality live event production.
The AVIXA TV Studio (EA900) is also highlighting Ross technology in a fully operational live environment. Powered by Ross, from graphics and switching to cameras and control, the studio offers visitors a real-time look at how integrated workflows can improve production speed, reliability and creativity.

The state of pro AV – Navigating a healthy but fragmented market
By Helen Matthews, senior market analyst, Futuresource Consulting
The pro-AV industry is at a pivotal moment. The shift from traditional AV to AV-over-IP (AVoIP) workflows is no longer a question of if, but when. Futuresource Consulting’s analysis reveals a powerful paradox: end-user sentiment towards AVoIP is overwhelmingly positive, yet the market experienced a 15% dip in 2024. While many are eager to invest, a combination of macroeconomic pressures, security concerns, and – most significantly –market fragmentation is slowing the pace of adoption. This is a story of promise tempered by pragmatism, where the future is undeniably IP-based, but the path to get there is still being paved.
The economic headwinds of 2024, including post-pandemic debt, high interest rates and geopolitical tensions, have forced many organisations to adopt a ‘fix and mend’ policy.
Capital expenditure on large-scale overhauls has been deferred in favour of short-term survival. At the same time, budget cuts have led to leaner IT teams, who often lack the bandwidth and expertise to manage the complexities of a new IP network. Manufacturers have made great strides towards simplicity, but a true plug-and-play solution for networks beyond 2.5G remains elusive.
THE STANDARDS STANDOFF
The most critical barrier to AVoIP uptake, however, is a lack of universally adopted standards. The market is a crowded landscape of proprietary, vendor-locked ecosystems and open, but still emerging, protocols. While this
'This is a story of promise tempered by pragmatism, where the future is undeniably IP-based, but the path to get there is still being paved'
competition drives innovation, it also creates a wait and see mentality among cautious buyers who fear investing in technology that could become obsolete or strand them in a single vendor’s ecosystem.
The introduction of IPMX, an open
standard based on SMPTE ST 2110, offers a potential solution to this fragmentation. Its versatility and promise of interoperability are encouraging, with 30-35% of interviewed endusers already considering adoption. However, overcoming the dominance of established proprietary solutions such as NDI|HX, which is already integrated into 56% of IP-enabled pro PTZs shipped in 2024, will be a significant challenge.
THE WAY FORWARD
Despite these hurdles, the long-term outlook for AVoIP is robust. Futuresource forecasts AVoIP encoder and decoder shipments will achieve a five-year CAGR of 4.3%. The market’s gradual recovery is being driven by minor upgrades and a rising demand for high-quality 10G+ encoders and decoders, particularly in high-budget sectors such as finance. The pandemic, which normalised video-first communication, has created a more video-literate user base that is now demanding broadcast-grade quality.
For manufacturers, the path forward involves a dual strategy: serving experienced users on a gradual migration path while also catering to new buyers who prefer the simplicity of plug-and-play products.
The rise of hybrid solutions that bridge legacy and IP technologies will be critical in this transition. Ultimately, the market’s evolution will be shaped by end-users. As their demand for open, interoperable and futureready solutions grows, manufacturers will be compelled to respond. The future of the pro-AV market is being decided not in the boardrooms of vendors, but by the end-users who are increasingly steering the conversation.

A significant shift: How in-room compute is transforming collaboration spaces
By Simon Forrest, principal analyst, core technology, Futuresource Consulting
THE ARCHITECTURAL SHIFT
As AI accelerates across the collaboration ecosystem, the previously plain corporate meeting room is undergoing its most significant architectural shift in more than a decade. What began as simple AI tools – virtual backgrounds, noise suppression, meeting transcription –has now begun to migrate into the meeting room itself. At ISE 2026, the conversation is no longer about if edge AI will matter in such environments, but how it will reshape meeting room technology and the very definition of a ‘smart meeting space’.
WHY IS AI MIGRATING FROM THE CLOUD TO THE ROOM?
Over the past couple of years, AI features have penetrated conferencing platforms. Initially, the cloud was the only place with sufficient compute to deliver these experiences at scale. But in 2026, several trends are pushing capabilities closer to the edge:
Lower latency and real-time responsiveness. Camera tracking, voice direction detection, and spatial audio rendering function best when processed instantly. In-room AI eliminates the network hop to the cloud, reducing delays that sometimes degrade user experience. Data privacy and regulatory pressures. Many global organisations prefer that sensitive AV data never leaves the room. Edge AI enables advanced features to be applied locally, or at
corporate network level, without routing raw data offsite, further avoiding the requirement to encrypt and decrypt streams. Cost and bandwidth efficiency. AI processing in the cloud scales with usage and increases overall service provisioning costs. At large enterprise volumes, it is far more efficient to perform video enhancement, noise suppression and encoding on a dedicated room appliance. Heterogeneous platform support. Rooms now support multiple UC platforms, guest users and BYOD scenarios. Edge-based intelligence can help ensure consistent capabilities regardless of which collaboration platform is active.
HOW MUCH AI COMPUTE IS SUFFICIENT?
Collaboration technology installed in meeting rooms must have a lifespan of several years in order to be cost-effective, yet UC platforms

GigaCore makes advanced AV networking accessible
The GigaCore S30-I Ethernet switch is the first in Luminex’s new Sigma Series for AV integration, installation and touring, which it hopes will “make advanced AV networking accessible to a far broader range of projects”.
Combined with Araneo software, GigaCore S30-I enables integrators to deploy an entire AV network with a single click. Each GigaCore can be managed through a built-in AV Web UI, while Araneo provides network-wide monitoring, planning and management.
The switch automatically handles key AV networking requirements, from predefined QoS/DiffServ settings to optimised IGMP per group, and includes the advanced redundancy protocol RLinkX, ensuring fast and reliable failover for redundant links and ring topologies.
Connectivity includes six independent SFP ports and 24 copper
are continuously innovating and improving. So, equipment manufacturers are now building products containing larger neural processing units (NPUs), anticipating a steady migration to edge compute as AI features in those UC platforms evolve and are progressively optimised. This means the compute requirements must be overspecified to cope with an AI future not yet fully defined; and that adds cost to the hardware.
Concurrently, the other consideration is that there are several products serving each room. Many of these will individually include NPUs, multiplying the AI compute capacity overall within the room.
TOPS (trillions of operations per second) is one of the key metrics for NPU performance; this provides a useful, although somewhat inexact, measure of AI compute within the hardware. With multiple PTZ cameras, a smart whiteboard, AI PC, plus a collaboration bar, it’s not inconceivable that meeting rooms will have several hundred TOPS of AI compute capability, but again with expectation of this distributed capacity being underutilised.
Microsoft has specified that 40 TOPS of NPU performance is now the baseline requirement for an AI Copilot PC. Yet the same hasn’t been declared for collaboration technology. Indeed, it’s unclear whether the UC platform vendors will coalesce around a minimum TOPS figure for each component, or for in-room compute overall. This would certainly assist those vendors serving the sector in defining appropriate yet futureproofed product specifications.

Cut energy waste with easy power control
The Easy Power System (EPS) is designed to address two of the LED industry’s most common challenges: high inrush currents and the inability to fully power off LED displays.
With its new controlled ramp-up technology, EPS is claimed to eliminate inrush current entirely, allowing even large LED installations to power on smoothly without overloading circuit breakers or requiring expensive electrical infrastructure.
EPS also introduces integrated remote control for LED displays. Operators can switch screens fully on or completely off through the built-in interface, cutting unnecessary energy consumption and enabling centralised, intelligent power management across any installation.
The system provides a simple three-phase low-cost power input with constant monitoring of voltage and current, to ensure stable operation. If irregularities such as overvoltage or power failure occur, EPS automatically shuts down to protect the screens and the electrical installation.

ePaper goes off grid
Cholesteric LCD (Ch-LCD) displays can slash energy costs by 90% while enhancing outdoor visibility. The bistable Ch-LCD technology is used by ePaint for its ePaper displays to maintain images ‘indefinitely’ without energy input: once content is displayed, it remains visible, even if disconnected from power, making battery and solar operation practical in large-format signage.
The company says it is seeing strong adoption in transportation and smart city applications where 24/7 reliability and low operational costs are critical. A typical 32in LCD display consumes 1,300kWh annually, whereas ePaint’s equivalent display uses less than 50kWh – a 96% reduction.
The company’s ePolar flagship series can operate across a -30°C to +80°C temperature range, suitable for Arctic conditions or desert heat. Reflective display technology turns sunlight from a liability into an asset, with visibility improving in bright conditions rather than washing out.
ePaint recently launched an Ultra-Thin Edition, reducing display weight by 40%. New options include front light modules for night-time visibility and integrated solar panels for off-grid operation. — david fox www.epaint.global

New Core+ mini mics on parade
The expanded line of 4000 Series Core+ miniature microphones with MicroLock Compact microphone connectors is on show from DPA in Hall 7.
Included among these are directional and omnidirectional headsets and lavaliers, as well as the brand’s 4099 Core+ instrument microphone. Core+ by DPA eliminates the non-linearities typically generated by the membrane and electronic components, effectively neutralising distortion across the entire dynamic range. As a result, non-linear artefacts become imperceptible and unmeasurable for a pristine, transparent sound in even the most complex environments.
The roll-out of Core+ technology began with DPA’s headsets and lavaliers, which have also been outfitted with the company’s new MicroLock connector. This features a newly engineered locking mechanism and compact form factor that is compatible with a variety of wireless systems. Created in response to market demand and recent advances in technology, MicroLock is fully backwards compatible with existing DPA MicroDot solutions; the company will update its active connectors, cables and related accessories to align with this new standard. — david davies www.dpamicrophones.com

The LED Studio is showcasing its Osiris and Gemini displays.
The 0.9mm Osiris supports true 3D visualisation with a 240Hz refresh rate and multi-point-of-view capabilities, making it suitable for immersive training, automotive testing and advanced simulation.
It is claimed to be “the first flexible chip-on-board LED module designed with a true, precision-engineered curve”. Unlike rubber modules curved post-installation, each Osiris module is CNC-manufactured with a built-in curve, for greater uniformity and structural integrity.
Osiris is being demonstrated in an immersive driving simulator, showing its high latency handling, 5G data capability and reliable architecture with full power and data redundancy and magnetic front servicing.
APG is presenting two new loudspeaker series, the eX series and tS series, on the Arbane Group stand. Both are targeted towards fixed installations, with the tS series also suitable for small to mid-sized events.
With the four-model compact (5-15in) eX series, APG says it has a comprehensive solution for fixed installations in all venues where the sound environment plays an essential role. At the heart of the eX series lies coaxial technology, which guarantees wide, uniform coverage without phase accidents or alteration of the response curve, regardless of listening distance.
Launching the tS series, the tS121 is based on the UM121 subwoofer – part of the Uniline Max, APG’s newest line array – and maintains its high-quality acoustic performance with hardware specifically optimised for smaller systems, making it well-suited to mobile set-ups where both power and a compact design are needed.

BROMPTON TECHNOLOGY | STAND: 3E110 8K LED processor delivers max power
The Gen 3 LED processing platform from Brompton Technology is built on Altera’s Agilex 7 FPGA technology and designed to support the latest video standards with greater power, efficiency and reliability.
The first processor in the Gen 3 range is the Tessera SQ200, which is claimed to be “the world’s most powerful 8K LED processor” and can power canvases up to 64K pixels wide or tall. Brompton is showing a large Leyard LED wall driven by the SQ200, which offers full backwards compatibility with previous Brompton-supported panels.
It offers colour accuracy (providing precise colour correction with a 33x33x33 3D LUT), increased processing headroom, high reliability and a robust implementation of SMPTE ST 2110 and IPMX protocols.
Assistive listening is in the loop
The new Auri neck loop is designed to increase accessibility and optimise audio quality for users with telecoil-equipped hearing aids or cochlear implants. It is the latest addition to Ampetronic and Listen Technologies’ Auracast-based assistive listening range, which was launched last year.
The LA-470 Auri ear phone/neck loop lanyard connects to the Auri receiver and transmits the broadcast audio directly to listeners’ telecoil devices. It automatically adapts when connected to an Auri RX-1 receiver, allowing users to switch between telecoil mode and earphone mode depending on their accessory choice. Without the neck loop, telecoil users can wear over-the-ear headphones connected to the Auri receiver to listen to broadcast audio. The neck loop gives them another choice for receiving venue audio.
Brompton claims it is the only 8K processor offering ST 2022-7 network redundancy, thanks to dual 100G Ethernet inputs. Video input options include ST 2110, IPMX, DisplayPort, HDMI or SDI, and it can receive single streams up to 8K at 60fps or use 4x4K workflows.

The new labCore hardware extension, together with software extensions for Unicast, Auracast and IMP, provides a consistent, controlled Bluetooth LE audio connection for reliable acoustic measurements using the LC3 codec.
The module is connected to the labCore platform via USB, eliminating the need for complex hardware integrations and offers time savings and cost reduction. The modular architecture allows customers to purchase just the features they need and expand them as required, including optional packet impairment testing and comprehensive manual connection control for targeted, reproducible testing.
Head Acoustics already covered the entire test range for classic Bluetooth audio applications and now fully integrates both LE audio technologies into labCore, which serves as a reference implementation for both Unicast testing (gateway and terminal) as well as for Auracast transmitters and receivers. The system enables automated, precise and practical evaluation of all Bluetooth LE audio scenarios, claims the company. — david fox www.head-acoustics.com
