A pond buzzes with life, both above and below the water’s surface. Birds peek out from towering trees, lily pads float on the water, and turtles leap in for a swim. How do these plants and animals survive? Observe living plants and animals. Discover how animals use their claws, fins, and feet. Investigate roots, stems, and leaves. Put on a performance with your classmates to act out how animal parents protect their babies. Then use your new knowledge to figure out how another animal survives in its environment.
